Obama, Hillary Pressure On China Fails

From a dismayed Agence France-Pressee:

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (R) looks at China’s President Hu Jintao during the opening ceremony of the China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue in Beijing May 24, 2010.

Pressure on China to censure N.Korea fails

by Jun Kwanwoo Jun Kwanwoo Sun May 30, 2010

SEOGWIPO, South Korea (AFP) – China resisted pressure Sunday from South Korea and Japan to censure North Korea publicly for the sinking of a warship, calling only for regional tensions over the incident to be defused.

Host President Lee Myung-Bak and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama teamed up at the two-day summit to nudge China’s Premier Wen Jiabao to declare Pyongyang responsible for the March sinking of the South Korean corvette.

But Wen gave no sign that China is ready to back United Nations Security Council action against its ally over the sinking, which cost 46 lives.

"The urgent task now is to defuse the impact of the Cheonan incident, change the tense situation and avoid clashes," Wen told a joint press conference on the southern resort island of Jeju.

"China will actively communicate with relevant parties and lead the situation to help promote peace and stability in the region, which fits our common and long-term interests best."

In Pyongyang on Sunday, some 100,000 North Koreans held a rally accusing Seoul of heightening cross-border tensions over the sinking, according to the North’s state broadcasting network monitored by Yonhap news agency.

The rally was led by slogans denouncing President Lee as a traitor, it said.

Wen, whose country is the North’s economic lifeline, has been cautious since arriving in South Korea Friday.

At a meeting with Lee that day he said Beijing would, before determining its position, review the results of the international investigation into the Cheonan’s sinking but would not protect whoever was responsible…

Paik Haksoon, of the Sejong Institute think-tank, said Wen’s comments "indicate that China is still questioning the authenticity and authority of the investigation."

The North says Seoul faked evidence to incite tensions and boost its support before local elections this week

How is it possible that Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton have failed in every single one of their foreign policy initiatives? Are they not the smartest man in the world and the smartest woman in the world, respectively?

Don’t foreign countries have any respect for affirmative action and high self-esteem?

Of course there are those here at home who will ignore any negative news like this. Such as the buffoons at the Daily Beast, where a current headline boasts: ‘Hillary’s Quiet China Victory.’

It really is to laugh.

The joke is on Hillary Clinton and the biggest joke of them all is playing golf today in Chicago with the rest of the thugs! America………………we are in deep sh……….ah……..trouble!

  2. Mithrandir says:

Had this been a Republican administration:

    ~cramming legislation down our throats
~letting natural disasters go on and on without much notice —while admin. members fund-raise, go on vacations
~No end to overseas military missions
~Bowing and apologizing to our traditional enemies
~Letting Russia & China walk all over us
~Not bring home the Olympics for 2016
    ~Driving a horrific economy
    ~Running up the deficit
    ~Disastrous foreign policy

There would be non-stop rioting in the streets and endless media coverage of the ongoing disaster.

There is change afoot, but the outrage is below the surface and boiling just as hot.

Absolutely. The privilege of select ignoring is reserved only for what the government and press deem PC crowds, violent as they most often are. (e.g. protesters of the AZ law)

I think we all know the real reason behind these meetings, to make sure China doesn’t call in our loans and to promise them we are going to tax the be-jesus out of the so-called rich. In other words anyone earning a paycheck is going to be paying through the nose. We are there to promise them we aren’t going to cause any trouble with North Korea as well but, I have to say this whole butt-kissing episode is rather embarrasing. We have become the lap-dogs of the world and I think it’s safe to say the laughing stock of all rogue nations.

  4. Liberals Demise says:

At least we can say without a doubt that DingleBarrys’ foreign policies are staying the course…………
    Zero for Zero!

It’s gonna be a long, hot, oily summer folks.

  5. Right of the People says:

But, But, We Won! We’ve got the smartest man and women in the world working on this.

Didn’t anybody tell the Chinese that?

I just hope this November isn’t too late to stop the madness before the country and economy implodes.
