Obama to CNBC: ‘I Have Bent Over Backwards’ For GOP and ‘Kept My Rhetoric Down’

By Noah Rothman | October 2nd, 2013

In an exclusive interview broadcast on CNBC, President Barack Obama told NBC News reporter John Harwood that he believes he is not the impediment toward creating a consensus in Congress to reopen the government. Obama said he believes that he has “bent over backwards” and kept his “rhetoric down” in order to make sure that he was not central to the debate over the government shutdown.

Harwood asked Obama about his “tone” over the course of the debate leading to a government shutdown. Harwood asked if it was Obama’s intention to create the impression that he thinks his Republican opponents are “either craven, or stupid, or nuts.”

Was that a rhetorical question? That has been the message of both of Obama’s campaigns, and his message for the upcoming midterm elections.

“John, I think it’s fair to say that, during the course of my presidency, I’ve bent over backwards to work with the Republican Party,” Obama said.

Can anybody cite a single significant thing ‘I won’ has ever really compromised on? Even the sequester was his idea. By the way, this is the same Obama told NPR in an interview a couple of days ago that he ‘shouldn’t have to offer the Republicans anything.’

“And have purposely kept my rhetoric down.”

Gee, in just the last few days Obama and his lickspittle minions have called the House Republicans anarchists, suicide-bombers, hostage-takers, arsonists, political terrorists, fanatics, blackmailers, and ideological crusaders.

Imagine what they would call them if Obama hadn’t kept the rhetoric down?

“I’m pretty well known for being a calm guy,” the president continued. “Am I exasperated? Absolutely I’m exasperated. Because this is entirely unnecessary.”

That’s correct. He could tell Harry Reid to sign one of the House’s continuing resolution. And he should then sign it himself. Why is he holding the country hostage?

Obama said that Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) could reopen the government tomorrow by putting the bill to fund the government passed by the Senate up for a vote in the House. He said that Boehner is beholden “to a faction of the Republican Party that are willing to burn the house down because of an obsession over my health care initiative.”

So almost immediately after claiming he’s dialed back the rhetoric he calls the House Republicans arsonists again. Does he have Tourettes Syndrome?

“I am exasperated with the idea that, unless I say to 20 million people, ‘You can’t have health insurance,’ these folks will not reopen the government,” Obama added. “That is irresponsible.”

Which, of course is a blatant and hateful lie. Maybe he has Munchausen Syndrome, too.

Uh…I thought it was 48 million uninsured. That’s what he kept telling us while he was campaigning for this satanically inspired desire to rule over all aspects of everyones life his signature legislative accomplishment.
