Obama Is Courageous, Tough For Asking Approval

From Business Insider:

REPORTER TO STATE DEPARTMENT: Did Everyone At The White House Have A ‘Spine-Removal Procedure’ This Weekend?

By Brett LoGiurato | September 5, 2013

Associated Press reporter Matt Lee grilled State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki on Thursday, repeatedly asking her how Secretary of State John Kerry found it "courageous" for President Barack Obama to seek Congressional authorization of military force in Syria.

Lee’s argument came from this premise: How is it "courageous" for Obama to ask for Congress to approve something that he believes he has the right to do, anyway?

"I don’t understand why he is so full-throatedly in favor of this," Lee said. "He over the weekend said the president was acting courageously by taking this to Congress, and I don’t understand what is courageous about asking permission for something that you say you don’t need and to do what you believe to be the right thing not just morally but in general.

"Can you explain why this is a courageous move, and why the secretary would call it a courageous move?"

Psaki’s response followed the White House’s standard line — that Kerry believes limited, targeted strikes, and Congressional approval for those strikes, are the "right step."

Cutting off her answer, Lee asked, "Was there some kind of, like, group spine-removal procedure at the White House over the weekend? I don’t understand. How is this courageous?"

Psaki replied that though both Obama and Kerry believe that Obama has the authority to carry out military action, their case strengthens with the backing of Congress.

Has anyone checked to see if Mr. Lee is still employed by the AP this morning?

But clearly the memo went out. Nancy Pelosi has been using the same preposterous talking point.

From Time Magazine:

Q&A: Nancy Pelosi Talks About Syria With TIME

By Michael Scherer and Alex Altman | September 05, 2013

[Time:] What was your reaction to the decision to bring this to Congress?

[Ms. Pelosi:] I was encouraging consultation. I did not believe that the President needs to get authorization from congress. I think that it is great that he asked for it. I think that it strengthens his hand, and our country’s hand, and our moral standing to Bashar Assad to have Congress support it. But it’s a challenge for the reasons you mentioned. It’s a challenge because the country is weary of war. This is a president who has taken us out of two wars. He has unwound the Iraq War and now the Afghanistan War. He knows, as Commander-in-chief, better than anybody how weary of war our country is.

[Time:] What does it tell us about Obama?

[Ms. Pelosi:] I can’t say that it isn’t something that I didn’t know before, but I certainly do think that it’s a sign of strength… I would say he’s a tough hombre.

Yes, nothing says courage or toughness like trying to rope Congress into getting the blame if anything goes wrong. It’s another gutsy call.

Who knows how many hands of Spades went into it?

  1. It’s disgusting what politics really is isn’t it?

They can’t or won’t face reality about what’s going on, even when it’s right in front of them. Are these people robots or representatives to our country?

Think: six-year-old caught playing with matches…and trying to explain why the garage burning down wasn’t his fault. And the aunt who adores her only nephew who can only see an angelic little boy and excuses him even when he drowns kittens and takes a magnifying glass to ants.

In other words, our government officials have no more scruples than that. They may not be malicious but the end result is the same. I happen to think they are malicious and cruel and have no real sense of decency.

Bush’s wars vs. Obama’s wars. Compare and contrast. Should be a required question in 12th grade civics class, but they’re too busy tweeting/texting and facebooking to care.

Pelosi description of Obama “I would say he’s a tough hombre”

Is Pelosi trying to fool Latinos that Obama has Spanish blood in him?
Is Pelosi stepping on femininity in describing the president as such?
What an over aged two bit ho she is. The botox isn’t cutting it.
