Obama Is Sorry Some Find Themselves Cancelled

From the Associated Press:

Obama apologizes to people losing health coverage

By JULIE PACE | November 8, 2013

WASHINGTON (AP) — Bowing to intense criticism, President Barack Obama apologized to Americans who are losing health insurance plans he repeatedly said they could keep and pledged to find fixes that might allow people to keep their coverage.

"I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me," he said in an interview Thursday with NBC News.

People aren’t "finding themselves in this situation." Obama forced them into this situation.

He added: "We’ve got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them, and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this."

Mr. Obama isn’t sorry at all. In fact, he is secretly thrilled to death. If Obama were truly sorry about these cancellations, he would do something about it.

He could easily remove the provisions in the law that are forcing insurance companies to cancel their policies.  He would support the Congressmen, both Republican and Democrats (who up for re-election) who are offering legislation to do that. But the dirty little secret is — things are actually going exactly as Obama planned.

In fact, we now know the administration knew back in 2010 that at least half all of employer plans will be cancelled, too. (Which will bring the grand total of cancellations to at least 93 million. But that is actually what Obama-Care wants and needs.

Because if people aren’t kicked off their old plans, who is going to sign up for Obama-Care or Medicaid? If people stay on their old plans, they aren’t going to become dependent on the government. And we can’t allow that to happen.

Officials said the president was referring to fixes his administration could make on its own, not legislative options proposed by congressional lawmakers…

Those "legislative options" involved removing the requirements in Obama-Care that are forcing these cancellations. So, in other words, Obama is not going to even try to fix the problem.

But, as Harry Reid might say, ‘why would he want to do that?’ He wants the cancellations. The more, the merrier.

Obama stopped short in Thursday’s interview of apologizing for telling Americans they would be able to keep their insurance plans if they liked them — a promise he has made repeatedly since the law was enacted.

And, as we noted yesterday, the White House website is still overflowing with these same ‘promises.’ They have no shame.

But he did take broader responsibility for the health care woes than in his previous comments about the flawed rollout, declaring that if the law [sic] isn’t working, "it’s my job to get it fixed."

"When you’ve got a health care rollout that is as important to the country and to me as this is and it doesn’t work like a charm, that’s my fault," he said…

So is Obama going to resign? If not, what is accomplished by him pretending to take responsibility?

In recent days, focus has intensified on the president’s promise that Americans who liked their insurance coverage would be able to keep it. He repeated the line often, both as the bill was being debated in Congress and after it was signed into law.

But the health care law itself made that promise almost impossible to keep. It mandated that insurance coverage must meet certain standards and that policies falling short of those standards would no longer be valid except through a grandfathering process, meaning some policies were always expected to disappear…

You see? Obama didn’t mean to lie. He just didn’t know that the law would make his endlessly repeated promise a lie.

The White House says under those guidelines, fewer than 5 percent of Americans will have to change their coverage. But in a nation of more than 300 million people, 5 percent is about 15 million people…

This is another blatant lie. This is a reference to the individual plans that will be cancelled. (Besides, 15 million people is a helluva lot of people, anyway. Aren’t we told, for instance, that only 1.7 percent of American adults identify as gay or lesbian?)

But as we have previously noted, the Obama administration admitted back in 2010 that at least half all of employer plans will be cancelled, too. Which will bring the total of cancellations at least 93 million.

"We weren’t as clear as we needed to be in terms of the changes that were taking place," Obama told NBC. "And I want to do everything we can to make sure that people are finding themselves in a good position, a better position than they were before this law happened." …

The law didn’t just "happen."

The president’s critics have accused him of misleading the public about changes that were coming under the law, which remains unpopular with many Americans. Obama dismissed those accusations, saying the White House was operating in "good faith."

Even though we now know that from the very start Obama and his aides knew they were lying to the public.

He acknowledged that the administration "didn’t do a good enough job in terms of how we crafted the law" but did not specify what changes his administration might make.

Don’t worry. He won’t change the ‘Law of the Land’ in any way that will hurt the Democrat Party or help Americans.

so if Watergate is todays theme…

… I have spoken to you from this office,…to discuss with you some matter that I believe affected the national interest.
I have always tried to do what was best for the Nation. Throughout the long and difficult period of Watergate, I have felt it was my duty to persevere, to make every possible effort to complete the term of office to which you elected me.
In the past few days, however, it has become evident to me that I no longer have a strong enough political base in the Congress to justify continuing that effort.
As long as there was such a base, I felt strongly that it was necessary to see the constitutional process through to its conclusion, that to do otherwise would be unfaithful to the spirit of that deliberately difficult process and a dangerously destabilizing precedent for the future.
I have concluded that because of the Watergate matter I might not have the support of the Congress that I would consider necessary to back the very difficult decisions and carry out the duties of this office in the way the interests of the Nation would require.
as President, I must put the interest of America first. America needs a full-time President and a full-time Congress, particularly at this time with problems we face at home and abroad.
Therefore, I shall resign the Presidency effective at noon tomorrow.
By taking this action, I hope that I will have hastened the start of that process of healing which is so desperately needed in America. ”
