Obama Keeps Cap On Despite Nearby Seep

Oil cap kept shut despite seep near ruptured well

NEW ORLEANS – The federal government Monday allowed BP to keep the cap shut tight on its busted Gulf of Mexico oil well for another day despite a seep in the sea floor after the company promised to watch closely for signs of new leaks underground.

How kind of the federal government. Especially, since BP is solely responsible for the additional costs of cleaning up the additional oil that would be released.

The Obama administration’s point man for the spill, retired Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, said early Monday that government scientists had gotten the answers they wanted about how BP is monitoring the seabed around the mile-deep well, which has stopped gushing oil into the water since the experimental cap was closed Thursday.

Well, as long as the Nobel laureate Stephen Chu is happy.

Late Sunday, Allen said a seep was detected near the ruptured oil well and demanded in a sharply worded letter that BP step up monitoring of the ocean floor. Allen didn’t say what was coming from the seep. White House energy adviser Carol Browner told the CBS "Early Show" the seep was found less than two miles from the well site…

"When seeps are detected, you are directed to marshal resources, quickly investigate, and report findings to the government in no more than four hours. I direct you to provide me a written procedure for opening the choke valve as quickly as possible without damaging the well should hydrocarbon seepage near the well head be confirmed," Allen said in a letter to BP Managing Director Bob Dudley

Mr. Allen’s instant expertise on the care and safety of deepwater oil wells is quite impressive. But is he really the person to be calling the shots? Is he even a Harvard Law School graduate? Where was Mr. Obama?

Early Monday, Allen issued a statement saying there had been an overnight conference call between the federal science team and BP.

"During the conversation, the federal science team got the answers they were seeking and the commitment from BP to meet their monitoring and notification obligations," Allen said.

Whew. That was close. Too close.

Of course, we aren’t oil drilling experts like Admiral Allen, but it seems to us that one way to keep the pressure down would be for BP to resume pumping oil from the well. That would also help BP pay for the clean up.

But, needless to say, we can’t have that.

I don’t know anything about oil well seepage, but I can still tell what is the right thing to do.

Whatever the criminals in government say, do the opposite.

the depths the mainstream media (and especially the associated press) will go to create space between the obama admin. and b p is staggering.

b p did nothing with this well from the beginning that the obama mms didn’t know about or approve. and they did so because they were in b p’s back pocket going all the way back to the chu video where he proclaimed they and b p would “save the world”.

now at every opportunity the msm trys to create this image that obama somehow has b p at arm’s length with his boot on their throat when nothing could be further from the truth. think about how fast obama came running when carville (who is no friend of obama) went on his now infamous tirade. “you’ve got to get down hea…”. what he didn’t say:

“or else”. (or else i’ll start talking)

read the rolling stone piece on the chain of events leading to and after the explosion.

it is a sad day (and may be one of the seven biblical, apocalyptic seals being opened) when you have to read the rolling stone for objective journalism on ANY topic.

obama and b p were attached at the waist then and are now. feinberg’s begging people NOT TO SUE. the holder justice dept. is monitoring legal actions around this case looking for tort that might bankrupt b p. nothing’s changed.

obama protects b p as he protects himself. (with the a p as their wingman)

Keepin’ the cap on prevents dingleBarry from dawning a snorkel and fins and further polluting the gulf.

    Damn the seepage, man!!

Suck that sucker dry! Its the only way to be sure.
