Obama May Let People Keep Policies Past 2016

From an unfazed Associated Press:

Administration said to ponder insurance extension

By TOM MURPHY | February 6, 2014

The Obama administration is considering an extension of the president’s decision to let people keep their individual insurance policies even if they are not compliant with the health care overhaul, industry and government officials said Thursday.

Keep those substandard plans that are killing us? Plans that are keeping people from getting free sex change operations and free birth control pills?

Avalere Health CEO Dan Mendelson said Thursday that the administration may let policyholders keep that coverage for as long as an additional three years, stressing that no decision has been made.

And additional "three years"? That would be until 2017. So both the 2014 midterms and the 2016 Presidential elections would be behind us. What a coincidence? But apparently, the sacred laws of politics trump the sacred law of the land.

Clearly this is an admission of failure for Obama-Care on every level. But, more important than that, think now how much of our day to day lives now depends on the whim of one man, Barack Obama. Even something as important as our health insurance. — This is now what the America the framers envisioned. This is not the America we grew up in.

Policymakers are waiting to see what rate hikes health insurers plan for the insurance exchanges that are key to the overhaul’s coverage expansions. "The administration is entertaining a range of options to ensure that this individual market has stability to it, and that would be one thing that they could do," he said…

Mendelson said… he has had informal discussions with administration officials about the extension, but he didn’t identify them.

Health and Human Services spokesman Joanne Peters confirmed that the issue is under discussion, saying: "We are continuing to examine all sorts of ways to provide consumers with more choices and to smooth the transition as we implement the law. No decisions have been made."

Aetna Inc. Chairman and CEO Mark Bertolini also told analysts during a conference call Thursday to discuss quarterly earnings that he had heard the plans may be extended…

[T]he administration is considering adding more time to the extension to avoid another wave of problems if rates on the exchanges climb too high and people are left without affordable coverage…

How can rates possibly go up? The whole reason for Obama-Care was to drive rates down.

Steve said: “This is not the America the framers envisioned.(sic) This is not the America we grew up in.”

Ignoring for a minute this regime’s agenda, the fact that the Constitution has been so heavily trampled these past five years is groundbreaking work by the socialists and socialist-lite (republican) party.

Thus why we don’t hear any discussion of it from the party of opposition. THEY WANT IT THAT WAY.

After all, when they get elected into office, they can now, too rule by executive order, leaving the other two branches of government to simply back them up on their whimsical form and method of government.

The clue was this: Boehner saying, “We’re only one small part, we can’t change anything that’s going on.” Boehner, like Obama, simply believes that a sitting president does and should have all the power so that they can manipulate the law as they see fit, even if nobody likes it.

Has to do with how they have seen the world as they grew older (I won’t say as they “grew up” because the current attitude in DC is that of arrogance based largely in a special insular kind of childish preening that sickens me).

They like it when they are seen getting in/out of their limos and being worshipped by the person who’s serving their meal at their favorite $250 a plate restaurants. “We’re true power brokers, we’re the real sombodies so you’d better pay attention.”

Perhaps it’s brought on in coincidence with the advent of television, where fantasy started trumping reality and in their minds they have invented a little fantasy world. Some say that people can seldom envision a world larger than their own immediate surroundings. And even harder if they are aware of a larger world, to assess it correctly and see how little effect they actually have on it. (Think John, “swiftboat” Kerry and how he actually believes he can single-handedly get the middle east to see(and agree to) his own view of world affairs.)

The absolute arrogance of these people is staggering. It’s one thing to be blatantly ignorant of world history, customs, differences in nations, etc., but it’s quite another to go abroad acting as if they have it right and their hosts are all as stupid as they are.

But back to the original concept, that being that Obama’s brought about a transformation of the nation to something no one recognizes. For many, this is desirable, the same way the dissatisfied employee finds being unemployed more desirable than working in a place they hate. It’s odd but it’s true. Many people would rather their situation be worse than to go do something they didn’t like.

It’s that same petulant attitude of the eight-year-old telling the teacher, “I’ll show you; I’ll just fail this test and then you’ll be sorry!” That kind of logic is what we have had running the government for at least the last five years and probably a bit longer.

The flat ignoring of Constitutional law has been on display now at least as long and it’s very discouraging and disheartening. By doing so, they set the precedent for a republican administration doing the very same thus resulting in a downward spiral into a more and deeper Romanesque form of government with the Praetorian Guard and a senate that simply agrees to everything the president wants. Hence, a dictatorship and.like the old Soviet Union of the 1970’s, telling everyone, “See? We’re a democratic republic; We vote.”

It has been sliding off the glacier now for many generations where the power has been shifted to a top-down form of government and the PEOPLE are partly to blame for that by turning to the wheels of government to solve all their problems. This is because, like running to teacher, it’s the quickest, most expedient method of getting what they want. Government has failed by not telling the people, “You need to work that out another way, peacefully, because you are clogging up the system with this garbage; There are other vehicles at your disposal to do this; Simply ignoring them because you find them too slow is no excuse for having the government step in. It should be done as a last resort, not the first.”

So here we are, a nation of fools with the government starting to run our daily lives and about half the population letting them do it. Interestingly, I think I read a statistic somewhere that that same proportion of people, out of the whole nation’s population, live in cities vs. the other half that lives in rural areas and who are still independent thinkers who don’t want stop lights and sidewalks and street crime.

So that’s my bit for today. I’m as disgusted as ever but I also still contend that it’s a generational problem, where the “child wonders” of the 1960’s have to matriculate through the bell-curve of the population until it dies off.

On a positive note, one that gives me hope is that I deal with a lot of people in their 30’s, the “millenials” and “Gen X’ers” who think Obama is an a**hole and who feel the same as I do about the whole current edition of government. So….maybe it’s just possible that the pendulum WILL swing the other way because a lot of these people also are married, have families and want the same kind of lives their parents had, where they didn’t get divorced and their dads didn’t abandon them, etc.

So I remain hopeful though I will be dead and gone before I will ever get to see if there’s anything to my theory.
