Obama May Pull All Troops From Afghanistan

From Reuters:

U.S. says may pull out all troops as Afghan leader holds up deal

By Jessica Donati and Mark Felsenthal | November 26, 2013

KABUL/WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai has refused to sign a security deal with the United States, the White House said, opening up the prospect of a complete withdrawal of U.S. troops from the strife-torn nation next year.

Karzai told U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice in Kabul on Monday that the United States must put an immediate end to military raids on Afghan homes and demonstrate its commitment to peace talks before he would sign a bilateral security pact, Karzai’s spokesman said.

And we have to stop putting anti-Mohammed videos on YouTube.

The White House said Karzai had outlined new conditions in the meeting with Rice and "indicated he is not prepared to sign the promptly".

Thank Allah our side of the negotiations are being handled by such a formidable person as Ms. Rice.

"Without a prompt signature, the U.S. would have no choice but to initiate planning for a post-2014 future in which there would be no U.S. or NATO troop presence in Afghanistan," a White House statement quoted Rice as saying. The complete withdrawal, called the "zero option", would be similar to the pull-out of U.S. troops from Iraq two years ago…

Which Obama also intentionally screwed up. While pretending to be trying his best to let the troops remain.

On Sunday, an assembly of Afghan elders, known as the Loya Jirga, endorsed the security pact, but Karzai suggested he might not sign it until after national elections next spring.

The impasse strengthens questions about whether any U.S. and NATO troops will remain after the end of next year in Afghanistan, which faces a still-potent insurgency waged by Taliban militants and is still training its own military…

What nonsense! Obama defeated Al Qaeda and the Taliban are our friends.

Still, look at all the good our efforts at bringing civilization to Afghanistan have done.

Afghanistan considers reviving Taliban’s punishment of stoning for adulterers, 12 years after toppling the religious regime

By Matt Blake | 25 November 2013

Death by stoning for convicted adulterers could be rewritten into Afghan law, 12 years after the barbaric execution method was banished along with the Taliban regime, a senior government official has said.

Rohullah Qarizada, who is part of the sharia Islamic law committee working on the draft, said the sentence could only be passed if the act of adultery was witnessed by four people or more.

The sentence for married adulterers, along with flogging for unmarried offenders, appears in a draft revision of the country’s penal code being managed by the ministry of justice.

Talk about a ‘marriage penalty.’

‘We are working on the draft of a sharia penal code where the punishment for adultery, if there are four eyewitnesses, is stoning,’ said Qarizada, who is also head of the Afghan Independent Bar Association. It is the latest sign that human rights won at great cost since the Taliban were ousted in 2001 are rolling back as foreign troops withdraw.

‘Men and women who commit adultery shall be punished based on the circumstances to one of the following punishments: lashing, stoning [to death],’ article 21 states.

It’s almost as if they don’t want to leave the stone age.
