Obama ‘Misspoke’ About Polish Death Camp

From Reuters:

Poland seeks U.S. apology for Obama Holocaust comments

May 30, 2012

WARSAW (Reuters) – Poland demanded an apology from the White House after President Barack Obama spoke of a "Polish death camp" while anouncing [sic] an award to a Polish resistance fighter for alerting the world to the Nazi Holocaust, largely perpetrated on Polish soil.

The matter is a delicate one in Poland, which suffered Nazi occupation during World War Two and has long campaigned against suggestions it bore any responsibility for the slaughter of some 6 million European Jews.

"The White House will apologies for the outrageous mistake," Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski wrote on his twitter account on Tuesday night. "It’s a pity that ignorance and incompetence overshadowed such a momentous ceremony."

In his first early comments on Wednesday, Sikorski added he was not suspecting Obama of ill will and blamed the "grave mistake" on the White House’s speech writers and press service

This is what happens when their are no adults around to ‘fact check’ Obama’s speeches.

Still, medals seem to confuse Obama. Almost a year ago, while speaking to the 10th Mountain Division Obama said, "I had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honor to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously.”

In fact, Mr. Monti was killed in Afghanistan on June 21, 2006. Obama awarded him the Medal of Honor posthumously.

Meanwhile, we have this report from the Agence France-Press:

Obama ‘misspoke’ over Nazi death camp says WHouse

May 30, 2012

The White House tried to head off a diplomatic spat with Poland after President Barack Obama mistakenly called a Nazi facility used to process Jews for execution as a "Polish death camp."

The linguistic faux pas overshadowed Obama’s posthumous award of America’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, to Jan Karski, a former Polish underground officer who provided early eyewitness accounts of the Nazi purge against Jews.

"Before one trip across enemy lines, resistance fighters told him that Jews were being murdered on a massive scale, and smuggled him into the Warsaw Ghetto and a Polish death camp to see for himself," Obama said.

The Polish government keenly watches the global media for descriptions of former concentration camps as "Polish" because it says the term — even if used simply as a geographical indicator — can give the impression that Poland bore responsibility for Nazi Germany’s World War II genocide.

Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for Obama’s National Security Council, said that the president "misspoke." "He was referring to Nazi death camps in Poland.

"We regret this misstatement, which should not detract from the clear intention to honor Mr Karski and those brave citizens who stood on the side of human dignity in the face of tyranny."

Of course, it’s clear that Obama was referring to a German Death Camp in Poland. Just as it was clear what Gerald Ford was saying about Poland in 1976, when he gave an answer in a debate that actually articulated the official US policy. That is, we refused to officially recognize the Soviet dominion over Poland.

But the news media tried to make Ford’s remarks into a monumental gaffe, just as they will go out of their way to downplay Obama’s.

Still, don’t Obama and others in his administration seem to do a lot of ‘misspeaking’? Even though they all read their speeches off of teleprompters. We thought George Bush was supposed to be the inarticulate buffoon. But it seems like at least once a week Obama or somebody in his administration has to apologize for some idiotic comment.

By the way, was George Soros was invited to this White House ceremony? Soros, lest we forget, told ’60 Minutes’ that he feels no regrets about having helped the Nazis confiscate property from the Jews in his native Hungary.

You must know something to be able to misspeak. Obama never knew. Moreover, he never knew he never knew.

We are always told federal government employees are highly paid because they are attracting the best and brightest. Here is another case in point. If there is anyone who should understand the President is a teleprompter reading dunce – it is the overpaid underlings in the regime. I guess they are really no smarter than their boss.

Nerobama has succeeded in insulting both the Poles and the Germans with his remarks about the Holocaust –– first Merkel and the Germans with his Buchenwald speech, etc., and now the Poles.

One picture is worth a thousand words :

    http://blogs.reuters.com/talesfromthetrail/2009/06/05/german-us-ties-strong-never-you-mind-the-wild-speculation/

We may also recall Nerobama’s claim that his uncle was among the first troops to liberate Auschwitz :

Guess his uncle served in the Soviet Army.

Nerobama has continually shown amazing ignorance –– bordering on callous disregard –– toward Europe and Europeans.

    Thus :

The Austrians speak Austrian. (Yes, and the Canadians speak Canadian, you dummy.)

The English have embassies. (No, the United Kingdom has embassies, dummy.)

“the Brits believe in British exceptionalism.” (No, their attachment is to England, Wales, or Scotland, as the case may be, you dummy.)

France is our strongest friend and ally. (Thereby insulting both the French and the Brits in one stroke.)

One suspects that the only European country he has ever been comfortable with is the former Soviet Union.

I urge you all to join me in writing Editors of Krakow newspapers and apologizing to Poland on behalf of America. Crowd-Source a letter writing campaign and let’s see how the WH spins that

    Shame the man
Apologize to Poland for our buffoon

  5. Astravogel says:

An apology from TCP shouldn’t be difficult,
after all, he IS the ‘sorry’ President.

Insulting the country that broke the ENIGMA machine
and its codes, and shortened the Second Planetary War,
showcases the ineptitude of these clowns.

  6. canary says:

In Obama’s book he details taking his white girlfriend to an anti-white play. He tells his aunt about how he pushed her away because she confronted about his hatred towards whites and was crying that she would become black if she could, but she couldn’t.
His girlfriend pointed out the holocaust as being worse and this really ticked anti-Jewish raised Obama off.
