Pro...You are so right. We have had it so good for so long in this country that people are so used to being able to trust the system, even with the libs and feel like the sun will rise tomorrow in the east just as it always has.

We are all so apathetic now. I have always been a bit of a political junkie, but this Obalmy thing has me going a bit off the wall. I have so much trouble understanding how people continue to plod along not understanding what is at stake...and in the next year or two.

I agree with you on the MSM. But it still drives me a bit nutty. I just want to shake these folks.

I said this same thing to my pastor today...he's a good solid conservative...but I detected a blank look in his eyes as well. I can overlook him though. He and his wife have been dealing with a bout of cancer with his wife. But the others...Arrrgghh!

Mark Steyn, interestingly, denied this today hosting Rush's show.

His position is that lifespans are about the same no matter the health care system. With the provision that the country has addressed childhood mortality and practices cleanliness in the hospitals. He stated that the average lifespan in the US is just 6 months less than in Europe, which he called a rounding error, and only a fraction above Albania, which hardly has health care at all.

I love Steyn, and i'm sure his statistics are correct, but I think he is ignoring some obvous things about US longevity, in order to make his point. His key them is that the big downside of Universal Health Scare is a loss of freedom, not a difference in care.

1. The data is cooked. The US measures infant deaths more rigorously and that has a big impact on the stats.
2. The US has many more deaths from accidents, drugs, violence, and warfare. Those factors skew tha US statistics low.
3. US statistics are also skewed low because of our large population that was born and raised in other countries that don't have the same health practices that natural born citizens have (i.e., immigrants).
4. Obesity causes a lot of early deaths in this country vs Europe, where the people walk more than here. That also skews the US's longevity low. (I guess you could argue this shouldn't be included, but I think it's relevant to the question of how US longevity compares to other countries).

So I think the longevity of natural born Americans is greater than other countries by a statistically significant margin, if the data was controlled for those factors..

For now.

I am certain that millions of seniors will lose years of their lives when the government starts rationing health care, and it won't be offset by the small fraction of people who don't have health insurance today. The reward will be minimal and won't come close to making up for the losses.

And of course, the population affected by health care rationing is almost exactly the demographis of the people who read this website.

Another reason they need to ram this through quickly is Odumbo's approval numbers are dropping faster than excrement in a well.

"I found they had no concept of what was taking place in Washington"

it's the power of the msm.

Most people are busy working, looking for work, involved with their families, taking care of the yard, normal things.

Even today, the vast majority still get most of their "news" from nbccbsabc and their daily newspaper.

If all you ever hear is how wonderful Obamy and Thunderbutt are, then you don't know there is a problem.

You know, I went to a tea party on the 4th. And you know what I saw that really disturbed me? Barring that it was the 4th and the young people were at the beach etc, all I saw were older adults in the stands at our tea party.

After trying to talk about it to others who call them selves repubs, I found that over half didn't even know what a tea party was.

After trying to talk issues with them...I found they had no concept of what was taking place in Washington!!! These were middle aged adults as well. People who declare themselves to be on the conservative side. People who for the most part didn't vote for Obalmy.

I think we all need to start to make it our business to find one of these people and inform them....Especially the YOUNGER adults. This will be their world in the coming years and they have no idea what is coming.

Perhaps between voting and writing our reps we can...one at a time...make it our business to 'smarten up" a few of the younger crowd.
We can make more of a dent that way than just writing letters to reps who ignore us and send us form letters happily telling us why we are going to be so well served by them when they jam what we DON'T want down our throats.

We need to politically multiply!

"I would have never thought that barry was this underhanded."

I am convinced that one of the reasons his handlers picked and trained him is because he seems non-threatening. He writes about that trick in his self-serving-ayers-written-"auto"biography, you know.

The truth is he has no morals whatsoever. His policies will slaughter millions (minimum. Worldwide, if he is allowed to continue, perhaps hundreds of millions), he knows it, and he doesn't care a whit about it. Correction: he WANTS it.

pro, I would have never thought that barry was this underhanded. Barry really does want to be king of the States.
We Americans won't stand for the socialist shake down of the radio waves. This is where the rubber will hit the tarmac and the revolution will begin!
I kid you not .......... this will make what's happening in China look like a football skirmish!

It has to be slowed by 2010 and stopped in 2012, or it will be too late.

But take a look at Dick Morris' Video of the Day to get a real scare: http://www.dickmorris.com/blog/

I wonder if, when the pendulum has swung the other way....the history books will refer to this time as "THE GREAT DECEPTION".

Truly, I think we are in the middle of one of the most stupid periods in this nation's history. I have, for many weeks now, taken in a LOT of reading from this and other blogs as well as some liberal blogs, (which, suffice to say, are rife with hatred, deeply disturbing illogical premises, emotionally-ridden leaps of fantasy and academic-intellectual diatribes of emptiness) and I've come away with the summation that we are in for a very rough several decades.

The dumbing down of education, the collaboration of pseudo-intellectualism, as defined by its poster-child in the oval office, the rampant emotionalism in "climate-change" and overall, the mass-gaggle of ignorant, yet ridiculously prideful people of the USA...has all resulted in a coup of monumental proportions.

Behold, we will be the NEW USA...

A non-productive, totally dependent state.

And the founding fathers will weep.
