Obama: No Evidence Obama-Care Is Hurting Jobs

First we have this from Fox News:

Obama claims ‘no widespread evidence’ health law hurts jobs, amid cutbacks

September 26, 2013

President Obama, in a heavily partisan speech defending his signature health care law, claimed Thursday "there’s no widespread evidence" it is hurting jobs — despite widespread reports that businesses are cutting back worker hours in order to avoid extra costs tied to the law…

"Most of the stories you’ll hear about how ObamaCare just can’t work, they’re just not based on fact," Obama said.

He continued: "They said this would be a disaster in terms of jobs. There’s no widespread evidence that the Affordable Care Act is hurting jobs…. Reforming health care’s going to help the economy over the long-term."

Just like it is going to bend the ‘cost curve’ down.

The claim flies in the face of what union leaders have been telling the White House and Democratic lawmakers for months. In a widely noted letter to Democratic leaders over the summer, the heads of the Teamsters and other unions argued that "perverse incentives" were hurting jobs.

Unless the law is changed, they wrote, "the ACA will shatter not only our hard-earned health benefits, but destroy the foundation of the 40-hour workweek that is the backbone of the American middle-class." …

"Numerous employers have begun to cut workers’ hours to avoid this obligation, and many of them are doing so openly," the union leaders wrote…

Investor’s Business Daily has compiled a list of more than 300 employers that have cut worker hours or staffing levels, many as recently as this month. Among them was SeaWorld, in Florida, cutting back part-time hours from 32 to 28 per week.

The Washington Free Beacon reported Wednesday on a South Carolina cleaning business claiming it will hire only part-time workers in order to stay under the 50-worker threshold…

Oh, come on. There’s no evidence to suggest that any of these people who lost their full time jobs actually exist.

And speaking of the Washington Free Beacon:

Carney: Reports of Employers Dropping Health Care Coverage Just ‘Anecdotes’

‘There’s a difference between anecdotes and data’

September 26, 2013

Fox News White House correspondent Ed Henry pressed White House Press Secretary Jay Carney on reports of employers dropping low cost health insurance plans Thursday in the White House press conference.

Henry cited a Wall Street Journal report which stated more than 1,200 firms will have to drop their low cost health insurance plans starting January 1st under Obamacare.

The nation’s largest provider of security guards, Securitas, is among those firms dropping coverage for 55,000 of their employees, according to the report.

Carney dismissed Henry’s question and the Wall Street Journal’s statistics as “anecdotes” which do not conform to what the White House press secretary termed the “overwhelming facts” that employers are by and large not eliminating health insurance:

Those must be the same “overwhelming facts” that prove man-made climate change is real.

ED HENRY: So maybe Ted Cruz should acknowledge the good things there, but why won’t you acknowledge, for example, the one I asked before, 55,000 employees who had health care through their employer –
HENRY: Did you not say a couple of times that — (inaudible) –
CARNEY: Come on, Ed. Really, I feel like we’re doing this sideshow thing.

What an odd thing for someone named Carney to object to.

HENRY: I’m sorry — no, no, no — (inaudible) — you get to keep your health care?
CARNEY: Absolutely, if you have –
HENRY: OK, what about those 55,000 people?
CARNEY: If you have — again, you can come up with anecdotes and — but the –
HENRY: That’s what — (inaudible) –
CARNEY: — but the overwhelming facts dispute this — that this — that employers are shedding employees from insurance plans because of the Affordable Care Act or that they’re moving into — moving them into part-time status because of this. Again, you can — you can ignore the data and come — and present competing anecdotes. And again, I’m not diminishing –
HENRY: (Off mic) — The Wall Street Journal yesterday, 55,000 people are moving — that’s the data.
CARNEY: Ed, please. We can — no, that’s an anecdote.
HENRY: (Off mic) — data and — (inaudible) –
CARNEY: There’s a difference between anecdotes and data.

Let’s hope all those ‘anecdotes’ who have lost their fulltime jobs or their health insurance remember to vote in 2014 and 2016.

I want Carney and his liar of a boss to just keep spewing the lies, because even the dumbest of low information types will notice they are being lied to. Especially when, if they work and some still do, they start paying twice what they were paying for healthcare and then they’ll notice the high deductables, higher prescription drug costs and the 29 hour work week.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Apparently you and I have had the same revelation; That the lies are getting exposed with more and greater frequency these days. I made my original posting a bit earlier on another subject but before I read your far more eloquent and direct index here.

But you’re right…and it is becoming more noticeable.

    • Noyzmakr says:

I’ve been called a lot of things, but eloquent was never one of them….lol.

The lies are getting so thick now that even the most obtuse individual couldn’t help but notice. I mean, how many time do they have to set your house on fire before you realize they aren’t trying to get warm?

    • GetBackJack says:

Horsefeathers. They’re so dumb now .. well, just watch the internets. There’s no going back. They will never catch on ..

When Fox’s Ed Henry asked Carney if he was willing to enroll in the program, Carney responded with, “Absolutely…If I did not have employer-provided health insurance.”

What a slimey little prick this punk is. I hope I get to meet him face to face someday. I’d make darn sure he got to use his cadillac health plan.

hey go easy on the The Official Eunuch Of The WH .
you think its easy being a quisling?

It’s sad you had to tell what a Quisling is. Anybody who had modern history should know that. But then again, when I went to school we still actually learned the truth, not the fabrications of the left of how Cripis Attucks led the American Revolution and the old white guys didn’t do anything.

55,000 anecdotes don’t add up to data? Look at how many times Obama has anecdotally focused on job creation. Any instance of stated evidence of job creation is anecdotal as well.

Obama’s entire presidency has been anecdotal. There is no “DATA” to back up anything that’s ever been said about this regime. Laser focus on jobs. Laser focus on economic recovery. Any “evidence” of Obama being a successful president is anecdotal at best, and a treasonous lie at worst. The only thing that matters to Obama is the optics, and optics are by definition anecdotal.

  4. Petronius says:

The Left simply does not understand business. They take businesses for granted. They don’t understand that businesses are dynamic, living organisms –– people! –– and that, in order to survive, businesses must continually change their operations in response to economic conditions –– including government edicts that generate economic risks and disincentives.

The Left does not understand business because they don’t understand wealth and wealth creation (capitalism). To them, wealth is something that simply exists, something static, like a forest or a field of cabbages. It is there for the taking. It is something that can be harvested, taxed, regulated, manipulated, punished, confiscated and stolen by the government at its whim, indefinitely, and in unlimited quantities, to support the latest Liberal pipe dreams.

But in reality wealth can’t be taken for granted. Wealth doesn’t just exist. Wealth is created; it must be earned. Wealth is also perishable, and so it must be cared for, cultivated, husbanded, and protected. And finally, all wealth is portable (or, in the case of real estate, can be sold and turned into something portable such as cash, securities, or gold).

So when they punish the wealthy, what are the wealthy going to do? They’re going to invest their capital abroad, they’re not going to work as hard, they’re not going to pay as much in taxes, they’re not going to employ as many people, and they’re going to reduce hours, pay, and benefits.

And if they’re punished enough, they’re going to close up shop and leave the country altogether, once and for all.

    • Noyzmakr says:

The left has an answer for that. It’s called the New Worl Order or world government and it’s coming faster than you think. Hell, maybe nerobama can get the job as world dictator as president of the US of A is beneath him. He can be the antichrist. He certainly fits the bill as the son of the father of lies. Like father, like son.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

      Latest glaring proof? Hollywood.

With its scale wages and homosexual agenda, producers of the “not-of-the-cool-kids” variety are seeking to make film elsewhere. Canada has been very accommodating.

Most recently, a billionaire wants to build a state-of-the-art movie studio in China. Odd how the influx of US dollars has made China want to be oh-so-like the US…but, let me ask you. Will the Chinese government allow movies with homosexual premises to be made there? Fat chance, I say.

Which, on the face of it, is good. But had the necromancers in hollyweird been able to recognize what people really want to see in films, instead of drumming their own social-justice agendas, then maybe they wouldn’t suddenly find themselves in the curious position of having to ask why their junk doesn’t sell. (See: “summer blockbusters that failed, 2013”)

Plus, the employees in the flim-flam-film industry making scale will either have to learn Mandarin and move or….go panhandle on the street. I think the latter is more likely. Then will come the woe-is-me tales of how the industry let them down and how they’re all victims.

But we get everything from China now from our underwear to our iPhones and it is no great surprise that we’ll get our movies from there as well. To say nothing of the propaganda value where the Chinese pulled a slick chess move by using the statists and social-justice mongers in the US against themselves.

Hollywood should IMMEDIATELY re-evaluate and stop producing crap. But since they are “artists” with “superior intellects” and will deride the consuming public for being “just too stupid” to recognize the issues, they will destroy themselves.

And such is the direction of everything statist and socialist.

    • Noyzmakr says:

“Will the Chinese government allow movies with homosexual premises to be made there?”

Sure they will. They just won’t allow it to be shown there. Not even a pirated copy.
