Obama Outlines His Ambitious War On US Energy

Which paper do you read?

First we have this from the New York Times:

Obama Outlines Ambitious Plan to Cut Greenhouse Gases

By MARK LANDLER and JOHN M. BRODER | June 25, 2013

WASHINGTON — President Obama, declaring that “Americans across the country are already paying the price of inaction,” announced sweeping measures on Tuesday to reduce greenhouse gas pollution and prepare the nation for a future of rising temperatures.

Embracing wholeheartedly an issue that could define his legacy but is sure to ignite new political battles with Republicans, Mr. Obama said he would use his executive powers to require reductions in the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by the nation’s power plants.

Bear in mind Obama claims to be a constitutional scholar. Where does the constitution give him the power to do anything like this? In fact, if he has the power to require businesses to reduce their carbon dioxide, why not us, since we also emit the deadly toxic stuff?

The carbon cuts at power plants are the centerpiece of a three-pronged climate-change plan that will also involve new federal funds to advance renewable energy technology, as well as spending to fortify cities and states against the ravages of storms and droughts aggravated by a changing climate.

The spending, of course, is the one and only ‘prong.’ After all, ‘climate change’ is just another Democrat money laundering scheme. Wherein Obama and the Democrats give billions of taxpayer dollars to their ‘green cronies.’ Who, in turn, kick back millions to Democrat candidates and Democrat causes. -

It’s a kind of recycling, if you will. And it’s all to make sure that the Democrat Party is ‘sustainable.’

Mr. Obama waded more deeply than he has before into the dispute over the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry heavy crude oil from Alberta to depots and refineries in the Midwest and on the Gulf Coast. He said he would not approve the 1,700-mile pipeline if it was shown that it would “significantly” worsen climate change…

Which it will be shown to do once the Democrats have gotten all of the money they can get from those backing the pipeline. Anyway, once Obama is done destroying the coal industry, he will turn his attentions to the oil shale people.

It was by far Mr. Obama’s boldest attempt to grapple with one of the seminal challenges of the time.

What a laugh. This ‘challenge’ is not in any sane person’s top ten list. Or top 50 list.

But it also starts a clock ticking, with the president aiming to draft and put into place a complicated set of rules in just two years, to meet his pledge of reducing the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020…

What’s the rush, again? Even the New York Times has had to admit that there has been no global warming for 17 years, man-made or otherwise.

Meanwhile, we also have this from the Washington Post:

On climate change, Obama bypasses Congress with ambitious plan

By Juliet Eilperin, Published: June 25, 2013

President Obama delivered his most forceful push for action on global warming on Tuesday, declaring that his administration would impose tighter pollution controls on coal- and gas-fired utilities and establish strict conditions for approval of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline.

Obama also announced that the government would take climate change into consideration in its everyday operations. The shift could affect decisions on a range of issues, including bridge heights, flood insurance rates and how the military gets electricity overseas.

So it will be used as an excuse to affect every aspect of our lives. How wonderful.

The actions make clear that the president will bypass Congress in seeking to reshape the federal government and the nation’s electricity sector…

And never mind that when Obama bypasses Congress he is acting outside the law.

Speaking to college students and environmental activists at Georgetown University, the president mocked those who disclaim any connection between human activity and climate change and suggested that curbing carbon emissions amounted to a moral obligation owed to future Americans.

“I refuse to condemn your generation and future generations to a planet that’s beyond fixing,” he told the crowd, adding later, “We don’t have time for a meeting of the Flat Earth Society.” …

And yet, as usual, Obama is afraid to discuss this issue with anyone other than uninformed college students and "activists."

Still, isn’t it a pity Mr. Obama didn’t give this speech before November. How many border states, which are mostly coal states, would he have won then?

Luckily for the Democrats, the coal state voters won’t ever connect the loss of their jobs to Obama and the DNC. At least, not if our news media can help it.

Meanwhile, the Politico is complaining that Obama is not going far enough:

Obama’s scaled-down climate-change agenda

By REID J. EPSTEIN and JENNIFER EPSTEIN | June 25, 2013

Barack Obama finally gave his big climate speech Tuesday — the one environmentalists have been waiting for since he first took office.

But even his biggest proposals fall short of what environmentalists had been hoping for, and what he came into the White House promising to achieve.

Obama once pushed for an ambitious cap-and-trade bill, and pledged to eliminate the generous tax loopholes for oil and gas companies. Now, he’s offering new rules for power plants and energy efficiency — steps environmentalists praise, though hardly the sweeping agenda they’d once envisioned…

Apparently, the Politico still worries that the US energy industry might still survive Obama’s attempt to kill off our energy industry, once and for all.

I would rather fall into the hands of a murderer than into the clutches of a Liberal in heat.

    What shall we call this?

    The last straw?

Or another triumph for the Liberal Death Wish?

When confronted with madness on this magnitude, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

If one believes –– and I do –– that the American end has to be epidemic insanity, this certainly measures up.

For this exceeds the wildest dreams of Caligula, Nero, and Commodus.

Of course it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Because Liberals will never be happy until we are all freezing to death in the dark.

Coal-fired plants account for 45% of America’s electric generation and 41% of global electricity. Our entire economy –– our civilization –– is based on it.

And the tyrant Nerobama is about to outlaw 45% of the electric power plants in the country because they burn “clean coal” –– coal-fired power that is the cleanest-in-the-word-but-not-clean-enough-to-suit-him.

Vast industrial resources are being slated for demolition on a nationwide basis, with resulting power outages, loss of refrigeration capacity for food, loss of thousands and perhaps millions of jobs, waste of tens of billions of dollars, and whopping hikes in customers’ electric bills.

And it is to be crammed-down by presidential fiat on an accelerated schedule that will maximize the losses.

And we see all this destruction about to unfold during a period of economic hardship.

Atlas Shrugged in the American heartland: Where production is punished, production will cease. Where investment is confiscated, investors will flee. Where employment is undesirable, no employment will be offered. And where science, technology, and industrial development are deemed evil, civilization will wither and die.

It is national suicide, the death by a thousand cuts. All done without any significant, tangible, or measurable benefit to the environment.

And by the way, what about those 45 million new immigrants that Rubio and the Democrats want to import? That’s a lot of carbon-emitters. Isn’t anybody going to prepare an environmental impact statement for them? Shouldn’t we require each of those immigrants to bring his or her own windmill with them?

And shouldn’t somebody tell Georgetown University just to pack away all their Christian crosses and symbols? It’s becoming such a nuisance to take them down every time Nerobama gives a speech.

      when madness wears a crown.

“I’m wearing my crown of madness
Don’t ask me to be serious
      It’s serious enough
Don’t try to make me understand
      Reality and stuff
Don’t push me to the limit
Don’t stretch your luck too far
      I know who I am
Do you know who you are? ”

Petronius, The up-side is, we all get to live worse than pigs, AND, we can wipe our collective back-sides with our
D.N.R. approved poison oak, ivy, and nettles. All of which leave a mark. And a bad choice, when in the wood’s.To truly turn this country loose, create jobs and pay down our government’s debauchery. Just turn us loose.
From food to fuel to small business, turn U.S. loose. (R) or (D) or (I), black, white, red, brown or yellow.
Just turn us loose. The market will take care of the rest.
