Obama Plans To Cut US Iraq Troops To 3000

From a joyous New York Times:

Plan Would Keep Small Force in Iraq Past Deadline

September 6, 2011

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta is supporting a plan that would keep 3,000 to 4,000 American troops in Iraq after a deadline for their withdrawal at year’s end, but only to continue training security forces there, a senior military official said on Tuesday.

The recommendation would break a longstanding pledge by President Obama to withdraw all American forces from Iraq by the deadline.

What a laugh. Which "longstanding pledge" are we talking about? Mr. Obama pledged to get all American forces out a long, long time ago when he was campaigning. He has changed that "pledge" many times since.

But it would still involve significantly fewer forces than proposals presented at the Pentagon in recent weeks by the senior American commander in Iraq, Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III, to keep as many as 14,000 to 18,000 troops there.

How many times do we have to explain this? Mr. Obama personally designed and developed the mission that killed Osama Bin Laden. He doesn’t need any senior American commanders telling him how to lose run a war.

The proposal for a smaller force — if approved by the White House and the Iraqi government, which is not yet certain — reflected the shifting political realities in both countries.

And by "shifting political realities" The Times means poll numbers. Mr. Obama has to do something to placate his base after all of his compromises with the Republicans. (This is sarcasm.)

It also reflected the tension between Mr. Obama’s promise to bring all American forces home and the widely held view among commanders that Iraq is not yet able to provide for its own security.

Again, who can doubt that Mr. Obama knows more about what needs to be done in Iraq than the commanders on the ground? It’s un-patriotic – and racist – to even suggest that the military in Iraq might know better.

And it reflected the mounting pressures to reduce the costs of fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, both wars that have become increasingly unpopular as the 10th anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, approaches…

Meanwhile, Mr. Obama is trying to figure out ways to spend more taxpayer dollars to stimulate the economy. And Paul Krugman is wishing we could get into World War III or be attacked by space aliens, to boost government spending.

In Iraq, a lingering American military presence is hugely contentious, even though some political leaders, especially among the Kurds and Sunnis, would like some American troops to stay as a buffer against what they fear will be Shiite political dominance, coupled in turn with the rising influence of neighboring Iran

It won’t be contentious once they leave. Iran will take over completely. Anyone who doesn’t realize this has not been paying attention.

Mr. Panetta himself, in comments to reporters as he traveled to New York for a Sept. 11 commemoration on Tuesday, said that no decisions had been made about how many American troops would remain in Iraq after the end of this year

Still, what better way to commemorate the ten year anniversary of the 9/11 attack, than to announce leak our complete surrender in Iraq.

Why not just take the remaining troops and paint targets on their backs? That wouldn’t be any less patriotic than using them for his political gain, and it would be 4000 less returning warriors seeking jobs upon their return.

Obama is one of the most disgusting creatures to walk the face of the earth. Everything, EVERYTHING he does is all about him.

Been waiting for the plan to secure the defeat in Iraq. Now we have it.

Iran will own Iraq within 90 days of a pullout.

Hats off to Herman Cain told FOX Greta, Obama has knowingly intentionally endangered our troops by announcing this tip off to our enemy, the terrorists.

Hats off to Herman Cain because neither Republican or Democrat leaders will tell Obama to stop his ongoing shout-outs of time lines. Recall Obama’s speech to West Point cadets, in which after wards people came to his rescue that he didn’t mean it, and he turned around and told the media he meant it and has continued these announcements.

Meanwhile Obama has unfroze all assets and sending cold hard cash as in rail road car loads to Libya.

And if that’s not enough he’s promised more financial aid to help Libya, Egypt (who doesn’t want our money as it would offend allah) and Syria who are busy trying to attack Israel.

What happened to making the bad guys believe they are outnumbered by men and weapons?
