Obama ‘Promised’ Palestine State Last Year

This is a bit of news from earlier this month that suddenly seems relevant again, via al-Reuters:

Palestinians deploy Obama speech in U.N. campaign

RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) — President Barack Obama is an unlikely participant in a Palestinian campaign to drum up support for a bid to win U.N. recognition of their statehood — a diplomatic move opposed by both his administration and Israel.

And especially now after the results from the special election for the ‘Weiner seat,’ in New York City’s Congressional District Nine.

But as part of an official media campaign begun this week, Palestinians have pulled from the archive some words spoken by Obama during the 2010 U.N. General Assembly, in which he alluded to the prospect of a Palestinian state joining the world body.

"When we come back here next year, we can have an agreement that can lead to a new member of the United Nations, an independent, sovereign state of Palestine living in peace with Israel," Obama says in his 2010 speech.

We dimly recall someone lecturing us about how ‘words have meaning.’ Who was that? His name is right on the tip of our tongue.

Still, the Palestinians have a lot of nerve to throw Mr. Obama’s words back in his face. After all, no one can still be so naïve to believe any of his so-called promises.

Besides, Mr. Obama wasn’t running for President last year. — Well, actually he was, but he wasn’t worried about losing the Jewish vote last year.

Although described by U.S. officials as no more than an expression of hope, the Obama remarks are one factor cited by Palestinians when explaining their push for U.N. membership at this year’s General Assembly, due to convene in a few weeks.

"Hope" seems to cover a multitude of sins for Mr. Obama.

"If he said it, he must have meant it," Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says during a 36-second radio spot

Good one. Who says Palestinians don’t have a sense of humor?

If he said it, he must have meant it, right?

Beautiful. Time once was extreme narcissists could tell whoppers with near impunity, counting on people’s poor memories and lack of proof. But now, thanks to the high-tech revolution, cameras and recording devices are ubiquitous. Give Democrat/Progressive/crypto-Marxists enough rope and they’ll wrap it around their own neck.

Complete mismanagement of the Israel/Palestinian conflict

Runs around the Arab world apologizing for America.

    Treats Netanyahu like yesterday’s garbage.

Calls for the return of the 1967 borders.

    Promises Palestinian statehood.

Palestinians add all of it up, and formally requested statehood recognition.

Now he plans on vetoing statehood in the security council.

*What the heck is wrong with this guy?!
