Obama Is Pushing Harder For Homosexuals
One under-reported aspect of the Democrat primary campaign has been the candidates’ relentless wooing of the homosexual vote.
According to reports in pro-homosexual media outlets, Mr. Obama has recently ratcheted up his efforts, with aggressive ad buys and press releases.
He is now placing this “generic” LGBT ad in homosexual newspapers in Ohio and Texas:
The following is Mr. Obama’s latest missive to the homosexual community. (Weirdly it does not seem to be available anywhere on his campaign website, but several homosexual outlets have it in pdf format):
Open Letter From Barack Obama To The LGBT Community
I’m running for President to build an America that lives up to our founding promise of equality for all – a promise that extends to our gay brothers and sisters. It’s wrong to have millions of Americans living as second-class citizens in this nation. And I ask for your support in this election so that together we can bring about real change for all LGBT Americans.
Equality is a moral imperative. That’s why throughout my career, I have fought to eliminate discrimination against LGBT Americans. In Illinois, I cosponsored a fully inclusive bill that prohibited discrimination on the basis of both sexual orientation and gender identity, extending protection to the workplace, housing, and places of public accommodation. In the U.S. Senate, I have cosponsored bills that would equalize tax treatment for same-sex couples and provide benefits to domestic partners of federal employees. And as president, I will place the weight of my administration behind the enactment of the Matthew Shepard Act to outlaw hate crimes and a fully inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act to outlaw workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
As your President, I will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws. I personally believe that civil unions represent the best way to secure that equal treatment. But I also believe that the federal government should not stand in the way of states that want to decide on their own how best to pursue equality for gay and lesbian couples whether that means a domestic partnership, a civil union, or a civil marriage.
Unlike Senator Clinton, I support the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act DOMA a position I have held since before arriving in the U.S. Senate. While some say we should repeal only part of the law, I believe we should get rid of that statute altogether. Federal law should not discriminate in any way against gay and lesbian couples, which is precisely what DOMA does.
I have also called for us to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and I have worked to improve the Uniting American Families Act so we can accord same-sex couples the same rights and obligations as married couples in our immigration system.
The next president must also address the HIV/AIDS epidemic. When it comes to prevention, we do not have to choose between values and science. While abstinence education should be part of any strategy, we also need to use common sense. We should have age-appropriate sex education that includes information about contraception. We should pass the JUSTICE Act to combat infection within our prison population. And we should lift the federal ban on needle exchange, which could dramatically reduce rates of infection among drug users. In addition, local governments can protect public health by distributing contraceptives.
We also need a president who’s willing to confront the stigma too often tied to homophobia that continues to surround HIV/AIDS. I confronted this stigma directly in a speech to evangelicals at Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church, and will continue to speak out as president. That is where I stand on the major issues of the day. But having the right positions on the issues is only half the battle. The other half is to win broad support for those positions. And winning broad support will require stepping outside our comfort zone.
If we want to repeal DOMA, repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and implement fully inclusive laws outlawing hate crimes and discrimination in the workplace, we need to bring the message of LGBT equality to skeptical audiences as well as friendly ones and that’s what I’ve done throughout my career. I brought this message of inclusiveness to all of America in my keynote address at the 2004 Democratic convention. I talked about the need to fight homophobia when I announced my candidacy for President, and I have been talking about LGBT equality to a number of groups during this campaign from local LGBT activists to rural farmers to parishioners at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, where Dr. Martin Luther King once preached.
Just as important, I have been listening to what all Americans have to say. I will never compromise on my commitment to equal rights for all LGBT Americans. But neither will I close my ears to the voices of those who still need to be convinced. That is the work we must do to move forward together. It is difficult. It is challenging. And it is necessary.
Americans are yearning for leadership that can empower us to reach for what we know is possible. I believe that we can achieve the goal of full equality for the millions of LGBT people in this country. To do that, we need leadership that can appeal to the best parts of the human spirit. Join with me, and I will provide that leadership. Together, we will achieve real equality for all Americans, gay and straight alike.
The trouble is what Mr. Obama (and Mrs. Clinton) are calling for is not equality but special treatment.
In fact, Mr. Obama even tries to out-pander Hillary:
Unlike Senator Clinton, I support the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act DOMA a position I have held since before arriving in the U.S. Senate. While some say we should repeal only part of the law, I believe we should get rid of that statute altogether. Federal law should not discriminate in any way against gay and lesbian couples, which is precisely what DOMA does.
I have also called for us to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and I have worked to improve the Uniting American Families Act so we can accord same-sex couples the same rights and obligations as married couples in our immigration system.
Isn’t that good news? Especially the dream of allowing more homosexual illegal aliens to bring their “spouses” to this country as citizens.
But given Mr. Obama’s self-proclaimed courage on the issue, you have to wonder why he is being so stealthy about this letter and his support for homosexual rights in general.

Sheesh, I had to go look up what “LGBT” was. I always thought that whenever creating a document, you first should spell out what the acronym represents, defining it at that point parenthetically and THEN you can use it. If I hadn’t had Wikipedia handy (for instance, if I saw the flyer out and about at the mall or whatever), I would NEVER know what he was trying to say (until I got home, provided I could remember the acronym).
As a side note, “LGBT” really does NOT roll off the tongue well, they should add some vowels in there somewhere, like California Highway Patrol becomes CHiPs. (Meant to put an example here, but unfortunately all I could come up with was, “BilLGaTes”)
Sorry, back on point here… once you understand what he is saying, yes, I think it is in poor taste that he does not show this ad on his campaign website but instead apparently distributed it to only the parties that would be concerned about this.

That’s just his way of uniting us. (chuckle)

Yep - what about those of us who disagree with homosexuality? Will Mr. Obama go the way of Canukistan (with respect to the Canadian readers here) and prosecute religious persons who object to homosexuality?
Make no mistake - redefining marriage to include any and all manner of cohabitation has one purpose: to do away with marriage all together.

“our founding promise of equality for all”
I don’t think those who founded the promise of equality had gays, lesbians, and bi’s in mind and who knows what they would have done about a transgender. Our founders where Christians after all.
I strongly encourage anyone who hasn’t already investigated the sodomy lobby to do so. It is frightening stuff and a lot the legislation they want passed (and have already passed) is based on the “victims” perception. Whether you’re actually guilty of discrimination doesn’t matter, it’s whether some screaming little sissy testifies that you did or didn’t.
Guilty until proven innocent is a concept of the past (one of the first points my constitutional law professor told me) as well as freedom of association.
I wonder if Hussein would also sponsor anti-discrimination laws for straights. The LGBT community likes to use the term “breeders” with a derogatory tone when referring to the likes of me. Why, I’m offended and hurt when they do and it just makes life too difficult for me to enjoy. I just get so distraught.
If this letter got some real circulation I think McCain would actually have crack (oh, can I say crack with Hussein around) at winning. The sodomy lobby is even too perverted for many democrats, especially those with children.

How does this even get into a candidacy for the highest office of this land ? Pandering at it’s highest form . I certainly don’t condone this behavior , but this speaks loudly to what he thinks is important to him . VOTES ! LGBT means were all S.O.L. A.S.A.P. no matter how you spell it . BHO , AKA Liberal .

ban on gay marriage
ban on embryonic stem cell research
ban on needle exchange
Is anyone else besides me frustrated by how democrats and the media (sorry for being redundant) completely mischaracterize the word “ban”?
We’re not banning gay marriage. We just don’t think the government should recognize it and give homosexual couples the marriage tax credits and child tax credits that heterosexual couples receive. If some lunatic church wants to marry homosexuals, they are free to do so. They just won’t be acknowledged by the federal government. That’s all. It’s not like the FBI is going to storm a church if they marry a gay couple and arrest all parties involved.
We’re not banning stem cell research (But we are trying). Any corporation or enterprise is free to allocate money for stem cell research. This is evidenced by California’s decision to do so. This practice is barbaric and becoming more unnecessary by the day. However, the government’s refusal to contribute financially to this morally repugnant practice doesn’t mean there is a ban on others doing so. By the way, if this kind of research had the promise that democrats say it does wouldn’t the private sector be trying to make a fortune off of this? I’m sure this is just because businesses have no forsight or long term thinking. Only democrats in elected office do.
There is no ban on needle exchange. If drug users want to buy clean needles, they are free to do so. Since most of them are junkies though and can’t afford clean needles, Libs are saying there is a ban on them. They act as if these people have a right to use drugs.
This is such nonsense. When I 1st saw issues reported like this I would scream. Now I just roll my eyes and hope that most people see through such blatant misrepresentations.

retire05….great link. It wouldn’t surprise me that BO is setting himself up and blaming it on Hillary. Boy howdy, if this is true, he is going to have a field day with McCain. Since the MSM doesn’t believe in investigative journalism anymore, Obama can pretend he is a “victim” being attacked by “fear mongers” and all the while his campaign is the group feeding the info to the press? And this is how a Presidential Candidate runs for office these days? Oy vey, our Country’s in trouble.
Now that I think about it, that’s exactly what has been happening to President Bush. Have you ever noticed that he will make a statement and the next day the MSM splashes a story contradicting the President the very next day? (The Soros media machine strikes again.) Sad part is that some of the Conservative talk show hosts have been falling for the propaganda lately.

Don’t worry so much about this all the Dem’s trade this one away for something else - that’s why it’s not on Obama’s site, I looked long before this post.
