Obama Says Evil Must Be Confronted

From an approving Associated Press:

At death camp, Obama says evil must be confronted

By Mark S. Smith, Associated Press Writer

WEIMAR, Germany – President Barack Obama witnessed the Nazi ovens of the Buchenwald concentration camp Friday, its clock tower frozen at the time of liberation, and said the leaders of today must not rest against the spread of evil.

The president called the camp where an estimated 56,000 people died the "ultimate rebuke" to Holocaust deniers and skeptics. And he bluntly challenged one of them, Iranian President Ahmadinejad, to visit Buchenwald.

"These sites have not lost their horror with the passage of time," Obama said after seeing crematory ovens, barbed-wire fences, guard towers and the clock set at 3:15, marking the camp’s liberation in the afternoon of April 11, 1945. "More than half a century later, our grief and our outrage over what happened have not diminished."

Buchenwald "teaches us that we must be ever-vigilant about the spread of evil in our own time, that we must reject the false comfort that others’ suffering is not our problem, and commit ourselves to resisting those who would subjugate others to serve their own interests," Obama said.

He also said he saw, reflected in the horrors, Israel’s capacity to empathize with the suffering of others, which he said gave him hope Israel and the Palestinians can achieving a lasting peace.

Obama became the first U.S. president to visit the Buchenwald concentration camp. It was, in part, a personal visit: His great-uncle helped liberate a nearby satellite camp, Ohrdruf, in early April 1945 just days before other U.S. Army units overran Buchenwald…

"To this day, there are those who insist the Holocaust never happened," Obama said. "This place is the ultimate rebuke to such thoughts, a reminder of our duty to confront those who would tell lies about our history."

It was a pointed message to Iran’s Ahmadinejad, who has expressed doubts that 6 million Jews died at the hands of the Nazis.

"He should make his own visit" to Buchenwald, Obama told NBC earlier Friday. He added: "I have no patience for people who would deny history." …

Funny, he didn’t talk this way in Cairo.

Wow, this story just convinced me that Barry’s not so bad after all! That settles it…I’m gonna start backing Obama and his agenda.

Alright everybody, it’s been fun, but I gotta split…gonna have to start reading the Kos!

    • JohnMG says:

Easy! Easy there, electionhangovervictim!! Just lie still and try to remain calm until the doctors get here. Wait. Let me make a pillow out of my jacket. Rest your head on it. Wow! That’s some goose egg there. You’ve had quite a blow to the head. How many fingers am I holding up? One? That’s right, the middle one. That one’s for Obama. You’re smiling now–that’s a good sign. There’s still hope. Just relax. That’s relaaaaaxx. Help is on the way.

Bam seems to be really throwing himself out on a limb here politically just to (hopelessly) try to isolate Ahmadinejad and get him in line. I sniff a faux come-from-behind victory set-up typical for these international nonsense tours. Or there’s something deeper in the works, like Proreason’s theory about his secret campaign for future president of the 1WO. Or Teleprompter Precedent is just very, very desperate to keep the appearance up that Bam is some sort of moderate rationalist after that disgrace in Cairo. Notice it’s hard to call any of this “elegant” by any means anymore.

    • JohnMG says:

      THIS JUST IN!!
In an amazing display of contortions, U S President B. Hussein Obama, during his ‘World Apology Tour’, when attempting to isolate Iran’s Ahmadinejad and get him in line, while simultaneously ass-kissing the Arab world and assuring Israel that he wasn’t using them as bait, has managed to throw himself under the bus.
      FILM AT TEN!!

When commenting at the Buchenwald concentration camp Friday, Barack Hussein o-blah-blah threw his entire cadre’ of friends, family, and associates .. as well as the entire collection of bufoons who make up the Democratic Party .. under the bus when he declared, “I have no patience for people who would deny history.” (or .. rewrite it, o-blah-blah???)

I know what you’re trying to say here and everyone is afraid to get on board with these fatalist views right now. Rush won’t do it because he still thinks there’s time to reverse all this and I agree – but that relies on either Bam falling apart or the American people waking up by 2010, where who knows what will have happened to completely reshape things.

I don’t think we’ll make it to 2010 at this pace, but I’m only a naive 22 year old fatalist. But for me it comes down to this: we know what he’s doing, we know it’s ruining us. We know internationally we’re a joke, and we know – heck everyone knows – our enemies aren’t waiting to capitalize on our decline even while we’re sitting here in la-la empathy land and throwing them concessions left and right. Locations of nuke sites are accidentally getting revealed, he’s flat out saying we shouldn’t have nukes or deterrents, and a major tool for preempting terror attacks was destroyed. Forever.

It’s the twilight zone, plain and simple. In this age of technological exceptionalism, singularity theories, mass media, mass communication, multi-million dollar worthless movies and the internet – the essence of free speech and collective human thought – can this globalized world survive such a recklessly negligent man at humanity’s helm of good when a majority of people have just been too numbed to any longer dare think that there’s something greater than what he says?

It just begs the question in your mind – is this it? Is HE it? Phew, okay I’m done!

Gather ’round everybody…there’s gonna be a fight!….Obalmy is going to punch himself out!

Just heard on the radio that hardly anyone in Germany heard or understood his speech…no translators and no advance warning he was going to speak! LOL

And he was so proud of that speech too! He really thought he had’em!

I was wondering why I didn’t hear boos and cat calls from the Germans….That was an insulting speech to the Germans. Rush commented on Merkle’s stone faced anger today.

(added note: see Rush’s transcripts here. The topic is between the first two photos. http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_060509/content/01125110.guest.html )

True there were horrible things that went on for sure, and they should NEVER be forgotten…ever…but after 70 years or so of the Germans working to clean up their act you would think a Head of State would be a tad more diplomatic. At least at that level.

Oh wait…Obalmy was going to wow’em around the world wasn’t he? I don’t think even the Arabs were stupid enough to take him too seriously…of course having said that the Arabs could never be satisfied anyway.

Fox political forum was discussing the “Obama Doctrine” as laid out in Cairo. Seems like the Obama doctrine is to support democracy and the halt the spread of evil by using every nice phrase and platitude… and thats it.

    • tranquil.night says:

I think Pete Wehner summed up the Obama Doctrine pretty well back in April 2009, “The overriding goal of the Obama Doctrine is to make the person it is named after look good, rather than, and if necessary at the expense of, the nation he was elected to represent.” We can only guess what comes after that because right now its just been.. well, yeah!

  7. pdsand says:

Didn’t he mean to say we should engage in direct diplomacy with evil, and try to repair our reputation in the evil world?

  8. BatK says:

And how exactly would he be defining evil? Murdering the unborn? Equating the death of 6,000,000 innocent Jews (+ another $6,000,000 Christians/gypsies/non Aryans) with the right of a people to defend themselves against daily rocket fire, suicide bombers, and incessant propaganda? We live in a day where people call good “evil” and they call evil “good.” Considering every poster on this site is probably on the DHS “extremist” list, I’d be curious to get a fleshed definition of what exactly he’s defining “evil” as.

Obama’s Great-Uncle Says President Visiting Concentration Camp Site for ‘Political Reasons’

Asked if Obama would be traveling in his footsteps, Payne said: “I don’t buy that. … This is a trip that he chose, not because of me I’m sure, but for political reasons.”

He said Obama also might be trying to improve his “standing” with Chancellor Angela Merkel, since “she gave him a hard time during his campaign and also afterwards.”

Payne said he never spoke to Obama about that experience beforehand.

“I was quite surprised when the whole thing came up and Barack talked about my war experiences in Nazi Germany. We had never talked about that before,” Payne said. “Of course it came out immediately that he was wrong since there are enough people in America who know that Auschwitz is in the East and that the camp was liberated by the Red Army.”

He said Obama called him after the flap last year for more details about the camp’s liberation.

As for Obama’s upcoming visit, Payne said he’d nevertheless be happy to join his great-nephew.

“If he invites me on Air Force One, I’ll be there,” he said.

He said their relationship is “warm and friendly,” though he’s not part of Obama’s “inner circle.”

Great find. I remember being curious after reading the transcript of that interview with Mr. Payne of whether Bam would invite him to Buchenwald since he seemed open to wanting to go.

Seems Gibbs might’ve really messed up last Friday by saying Payne declined an invitation to go. Apparently as of Monday the two are meeting up in Normandy for the last leg of the trip now, according to the state-owned Chicago Tribune.

Couldn’t find a quote where the admin actually said the reason for the decline to come to Buchenwald was because of bad memories, although quotes by Payne are presented in the article to seem to want to support this idea. It’s likely here to me that Gibbs made the claim about the offer without realizing Payne had already expressed interest in going and now the Normandy trip is the cop-out to the mistake. Great way to treat a vet, and to treat family no less, right?

I’m calling bull-shiite on that whole passage. It sounds like something written for a screen play rather than an actual event. He had/has no real reason for the hatred he barely disguises other than the fact he learned it from the radicals he hung out with. This fraud has lived a life of privelege and will continue to do so. No, the anger is all about power, and in that respect many blacks are no different than the muslims they emulate. It’s merely a license to run amok.

    • proreason says:

Does he actually think the experiences of the Jewish Holocaust and Slavery in the US are the same thing?

If so, it explains a lot.

      – why he is so intent on redistribution, and
      – why he hates Israel. (HIS people suffered for hundreds of years before and after the Civil War until Obamy redeemed them, so why should the Jewish people enjoy the safe embrace of the US. After all, pre-civil war slavery and the holocaust were equivalent.)

    • canary says:

JohnMG/ A screen play is what I think his attentions were to be also.
That is where the entire book is b.s. He uses quotes of conversations that happened before he was even born. He tells of his lying alot. No shame. When the school made my son read some of this b.s. I at least got to point out somethings like this to him. I told my son by the questions he had to answer, that I did not expect the paper to be graded or returned as it was opinions, and the school didn’t. It’s’ just guinea pigging them.

And he was dishonest when he claimed not knowing his church of 20 years hated Jews and America caused AID’s in blacks. When he started hanging around muslims and radicals Hyde Park, Minister Farrakhan,Power period. Book first copied in 1994. pg.

pg 196-197 describes conversations he and best friend, a muslim, on how all whites hated black people which led to his friend saying
the Jews were the same as white people caring more about looking after their relatives in Israel, than some black kid in the South Side.

Obama would buy a black muslim newspaper.

pg 201 “… “Nations newspaper, The Final Call.” I would occasionally pick up the paper….because my attention was caught by the sensational, tabloid-style headlines (CAUCASIAN WOMAN ADMITS: WHITES ARE THE DEVIL). Inside the front cover, one found reprints of the minister’s speeches, as well as stories that could have been picked straight off the AP news were it not for certain editoral embellishments (“Jewish Senator Metzenbaum announced today….”). The paper also carried a health section, complete with Minitster Farrakhan’s pork-free recipes, advertisements for Minister Farrakhan’s speeches on videocassette…”

pg 203 “Younger leaders, eager to make a name for themselves, upped the ante, peddling conspiracy theories all over town — the Koreans were funding the Klan,
Jewish doctors were injecting black babies with the AIDS virus. It
was a shortcut to fame, if not always fortune; like sex or violence on TV, black rage always found a ready market..”

Obama sure made a fortune of his anger against white people. Now he’s getting revenge.

    • canary says:

ProReason, I agree. There is alot of difference. Many continue to not believe in the Holocaust, and ongoing hunting down the torturers. Obama also wrote he was angry at his grandfather for saying that racism isn’t as bad as it used to be. He is still bitter his Grandparents were upset for saying a black man was threatening toward his grandmother telling her to give him money at a bus stop. Even a black person would have been scared. This he replays in that he can’t disown his racist pastor, anymore than he can his grandmother, who
would cross the street with him, if a group of thugs were walking with them.

    • proreason says:

“He is still bitter his Grandparents were upset for saying a black man was threatening toward his grandmother telling her to give him money at a bus stop”

I think that story is the tip of the iceberg.

It seems likely to me that his grandparents were highly resentful that a half-breed child of their slut daughter was dumped on them in their waning years. They couldn’t have been proud of their daughter, who slept with many men, most from other races, who spouted communist propaganda, somehow travelled around the world, and then uncerimoniously stuck them with a colored kid.

In 1969, it just couldn’t have been very thrilling to all-of-a-sudden have a wise-ass 9-year-old from another race to take care of. There weren’t many 50 year-olds at that time who would have easily accepted that situation. And then the kid proceeds to hang out with other black communist/child molestors, and to get addicted to drugs and booze of all types.

Got a wild wild hunch that the gramps-to-Obamy relationship wasn’t like Ozzie and Harriet.

The President is one mentally sick fella . One very very angry dude.

    LOL….or not.

Our President is a man of platitudes. His statements change depending on the company. And he thinks this is a Muslim country, but not a Christian one. Forgive me for wanting to hurl my coffee at the television whenever his voice comes on.

It would be nice if someone, anyone even bothered – someone who had some clout, some power, some position.

Exclusive for S&L. The PAID-off explanation for liberalism.

    For every tenet of liberalism:

    ….Principles are bad
    ….Always fails
    ….Ignored for the leaders
    ….Designed for tyranny

    – Principles – it’s ok to kill babies.
    – Fails – out-of-wedlock births are now over 30%. Women are no happier than before
    – Ignored – is there a single political leader whose immediate family EVER had an abortion?
    – Designed for tyranny – discourages families which makes the State more important

    Spread the Wealth
    – Principles – people don’t work hard when they can’t retain the benefit of their own labor.
    – Fails – Russia, China, N Korea, Cuba, FDR, etc., etc, etc.
    – Ignored – name the leaders of the Dem party who are middle class. Which Russion commissars were poor?
    – Designed for tyranny – Russia, China, Korea, Cuba, Venezuala, etc., etc., etc.

This works for everything liberalism espouses.

The greatest irony is point 4 (Designed for Tyranny). Everything they do is designed to take power from YOU and concentrate it in the hands of a tiny group of commissars, which just happens to include the people telling you how great the policy is.

  15. SanFranciscan says:

proreason: you have lost any credibility you had with the “half-breed” comment about Obama. I haven’t heard that term in decades…thought that kind of language was dead and buried. But, hey, thanks for proving me wrong. And I could possibly see your point about the parents not being proud of their daughter sleeping around, but why does it make any difference what color of men she was sleeping with?

Oh, and I love the fact that no one else on here mentioned that your comments were completely inappropriate.

    • proreason says:

So putting it in the context of 1969 doesn’t help you SanFran?

Maybe you should read a little more closely.

But here….I’ll explain it more clearly.

Few 50 year olds in 1969 would have been thrilled to raise a child of mixed race. And if it wasn’t bad enough that the child was conceived out-of-wedlock, and abandoned by the father within weeks of birth, their daughter was loose and had by then been married (at least) twice to men of other races. It is highly likely that their relationship with Obamy was, shall we say, “challenging”. And that is highly likely to have affected his world-view. Deny it if you want, it’s almost certainly true.

Today, 40 years later, with a 30% out-of-wedlock birthrate, a money mill being operated by unwed mothers, and mixed race unions probably counting for 1/4 of all births, it’s a different context, isn’t it?

You can look at it though a 2009 lens if you want to, but like most liberals, you seem to prefer to see things as you wish they were, rather than as they are.

      The comment stands.

And by the way, elsewhere recently I posted about my nephew-in-law from El Savador. He’s a fine young man.

But then, he doesn’t hate the country, and he isn’t trying to destroy it.
