Obama Says Romney Camp Is ‘Playing Dirty’

From Bryon York at the Washington Examiner:

Obama: Team Romney coming on strong, playing dirty, time to ‘put them away’

By Byron York | Wed August 22, 2012

President Obama joined a group of former NBA stars at a fundraiser at New York’s Lincoln Center Wednesday night. With Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Walt Frazier, Bill Bradley and other basketball legends sitting nearby — “It’s very rare that I come to an event where I’m like the fifth- or sixth-most interesting person,” Obama said —

Such modesty. No wonder he is so universally adored.

Lest we forget, back in December 2011, Mr. Obama modestly told CBS’s ’60 Minutes’ that he was the fourth best President in US history.

[T]he president made a few obligatory remarks about opponent Mitt Romney’s tax and economic plans. And then he addressed the presidential horse race — or basketball game.

“I can’t resist a basketball analogy,” Obama told the crowd, according to a White House pool report. “We are in the fourth quarter. We’re up by a few points but the other side is coming on strong and they play a little dirty.”

“We’ve got a few folks on our team in foul trouble. We’ve got a couple of injuries, and I believe that they’ve got one last run in them.”

“I’d say there’s about seven minutes to go in the game. And [Michael Jordan’s] competitiveness is legendary, and nobody knows better than Michael that if you’ve got a little bit of a lead and there’s about seven minutes to go — that’s when you put them away.”

Why does Obama pretend to be such a great basketball player? We seem to recall that David Maraniss reported that Obama never even made first string on his High School basketball team.

Of course, Obama said that was because his racist coach did not like his black style of playing basketball. (Which makes us wonder where Obama ever picked up a ‘black style’ of playing basketball in the lily white private schools he attended in Hawaii.)

But for some reason this claim reminded me of the Obama’s spiritual mentor’s quote about how Bill Clinton was ‘riding dirty.’

In any case, it is certainly a shock to hear Obama accusing the Romney camp of playing dirty, after they have run a campaign that would have made Tammany Hall blush. Having accused Mitt Romney of being a tax cheat, a felon, and a man who gives people cancer.

Meanwhile, The Weekly Standard has a few more details about the other ‘heroes’ at Obama’s fundraiser:

Obama Fundraises with Maker of Pro-Drugs ‘Stop Snitchin’ Video

By DANIEL HALPER | Wed August 22, 2012

This evening in New York City, President Obama will be fundraising with "NBA heroes," according to his spokesman. Those "heroes" include Michael Jordan (who is also a failed baseball player), Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, and, perhaps most interestingly, Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony helped make the pro-drugs YouTube video called "Stop Snitchin."

"Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony is featured in an underground DVD that is circulating in his hometown of Baltimore, Md," the Denver Channel reported.

The DVD is called “Stop Snitching” and shows alleged drug dealers talking about what happens to people who cooperate with the police, and Anthony is standing next to one of them.

He is also seen on the DVD talking about his Olympic bronze medal and saying that he threw it in a lake. The man he stands next to later goes on to tell how he would take care of snitches by “putting a hole in their head.” However, Anthony does not appear to be taking part in that portion of the discussion…

So who is ethically challenged?

I’m surprised Obama knows what an analogy is. This particular anaolgy works only as long as the star of the team (Captain Ears) has been out in the parking lot signing autographs for brown-nosing braindead fans, and handing out head shots since the opening buzzer.

Obama is just ticked off that the truth keeps coming out and messing with his storytelling.

Indeed, to a socialist, the truth is playing dirty, regardless of the lying, cheating, philandering, stealing, responsibility-avoiding that the socialists do.

One thing though. Just like “kid-logic” when a socialist claims that a republican is doing something or accuses them of misdeeds, it always occurs to me that they think this way because it’s they, themselves who also act this way. They are therefore applying judgement from the only template they know.

They cannot identify the truth because it’s a combination of willful ignorance as well as the genuine article. When a conservative lays out bare the facts, ie: Paul Ryan showing the budget mess to Captain McFlappyears, the best he’s going to get is a scowl and dagger-eyes because he had the audacity to simply lay it out in a common-sensical manner.

But a couple of mechanisms are at work. 1) Daring to question the supreme-leader’s stance on …well….on anything and 2) having the unmitigated gall to also indirectly display said supreme-leader’s ignorance of even the most basic of economics.

3rd comes the fact that he is opposing the party
4th is his “arrogant” display of intelligence, which makes supreme-leader look even stupider
5th, he’s wasting the supreme-leader’s time with such trivialities. Think the scene in “Gladiator” where Commodus is spinning the sword on the floor while his senators are trying to explain detailed problems in the city.

And there’s much more but it all comes down to the Big 0 being disinterested, unqualified, but dedicated to destruction from within and you can almost smell him plotting how he wants to destroy this guy, Ryan, as soon as he can get enough dirt on him to flay him publicly. Thus, 0’s ego gets in the way of national prosperity and I’m all for his displays of narcissism. That way, more people can see him as the flim-flam man that he is.
