Obama Shows Total Ignorance About Business

Here is another excerpt from the Obama’s interview with Charlie yesterday, from Mike Allen, via Politico’s Playbook:

CHARLIE ROSE: “Do you believe [Romney’s] presidency would be a disaster? Because this is a man who’s been a successful businessperson. Does that disqualify him … ?”

OBAMA: “Well, I do not think at all it disqualifies him. But I also think it’s important if that’s his main calling card, if his basic premise is that ‘I’m Mr. Fix-It on the economy, because I made a lot of money.’”

ROSE: “But that’s not what he’s saying.”

OBAMA: “Well, no, that is to some degree. What he says is he understands the economy and the private sector … I think it is entirely appropriate to look at that record and see whether, in fact, … his focus was creating jobs and he successfully did that. And when you look at the record, there are questions there that have to be asked. …

So, once again, Obama shows that he thinks the "focus" of the private sector should be to provide jobs.

“[W]hen some people question why I would challenge his Bain record, the point I’ve made there in the past is if you’re a head of a large private equity firm or hedge fund, your job is to make money. It’s not to create jobs.

Can Obama, or indeed anyone, cite a single business whose job it is to create jobs? Not even companies that find people employment see their mission as creating jobs. They are out to make money.

Obama does not understand even the most basic premises of capitalism. Such as the ‘invisible hand.’

It’s not even to create a successful business.

What nonsense. Romney was trying to make Bain Capital a successful business. And he was wildly successful, in a very difficult and highly competitive field.

Besides, under Romney, Bain Capital created and save more than 150 other businesses. Which is exactly 150 more businesses than Obama has ever created or saved. All Obama has ever done is destroy businesses.

It’s to make sure that you’re maximizing returns for your investor. Now that’s appropriate. That’s part of the American way. That’s part of the system.

You have to admit that Obama maximizes returns for his investors — the Democrat Party. His various stimulus packages, his general policies, have all been geared to maximizing profits for the Democrat Party. To buy votes by bailing out the unions and expanding the dependency class.

But that doesn’t necessarily make you qualified to think about the economy as a whole, because as president, my job is to think about the workers. My job is to think about communities, where jobs have been outsourced.”

So why is he destroying the American economy with higher taxes and higher energy costs and more regulations? Why is he pushing ‘green energy’ loans to companies that outsource jobs and billions of dollars overseas?

What community has not been devastated by Obama’s economic policies?

    It’s all street theatre.

    Nothing is about facts.

  2. Petronius says:

I’ll make it so simple that even Nerobama and Charlie Rose can understand it. I’ll reduce it to two points :

    (A) conservative = capitalist = free markets = prosperous = free

    (B) Liberal = collectivist = central planning = poor = slave

Employment results from economic growth and a stable population. Growth results from capital investment. Capital investment results from the opportunity to make profits at acceptable risks. A stable population results from limits on immigration, not from open borders.

The threat of taxation and confiscation drives money underground. It must be lured out again. Capital could only be tempted by a good investment and stable, mild, predictable laws, taxes, and regulations administered by a fair and neutral government. Suitable conditions for investment no longer prevail in America, and have not been present during the entire length of Nerobama’s regime.

Accumulation of capital, investment, and growth are very difficult in the current political environment, wherein larger and larger chunks of the country’s private wealth must be siphoned away and allocated to support wasteful government spending and to finance interest on the public debt.

And willingness to take risks is stifled in Nerobama’s new America, where redistribution is the official policy of government, so that innocent persons and businesses are treated as if they were criminals by those who work for the State, where predation on the innocent is not just legalized but is institutionalized across society as the new standard of behavior by a governing class that can impose its edicts based on whim, without regard to the Constitution or rule of law.

Continued government clamp-downs on industries are a disincentive to investment, economic growth, and job creation. We currently see instances of such government interference across the economic landscape––medical and healthcare, oil, coal, and gas, utilities, banking and other financials, housing, defense and aerospace, aviation, transport, mining, food, autos, etc.

Liberals, Democrats, and RINOs are strongly committed by their ideology to path B above and to more government controls. And conservative Republicans are almost (but not quite) equally committed to path A and the free market economy. The two paths are irreconcilable and incompatible.

The time has come that we must choose one path or the other. That is why this election is so important.

  3. Rusty Shackleford says:

“The two paths are irreconcilable and incompatible.”

Indeed they are, yet somehow, probably due to 40+ years of indoctrination in the education “system”, there are many who believe that path B is the correct path.

Yet, it’s so very odd that highly paid talking heads, who are paid more money than I can imagine, still believe that capitalism is bad, that corporations are evil and that the rich are keeping people down.

Let’s ax Charlie Rose dis: How much did you make last year? Do you own more than one home? Where do you vacation? When you go out to dinner, do you go to Denny’s or to Maison Française? What kind of car do you drive? Do you have a limo?

And of course, when cornered by such questions, I’m sure he would never think of himself as an evil rich guy. That’s a label reserved for the Koch Brothers or Rush Limbaugh.

    Why? Because he CARES more.

However, I believe Charlie Rose knows more about bidniss than D’oh-bama ever will but Barry the magnificent knows how to destroy it.

  4. I think our robust economy, thriving investments, and prodigious work force provide ample evidence to support Pres. Obama’s claim that he’s focused like a laser on jobs, and his policies are a resounding success.

Opposition is simply due to racism.

    More kool aid, dear?
