Obama’s Vacation by the Numbers

Monday, 19 August 2013

(WASHINGTON) — After a week of R&R, President Obama and the first family are on their way back to Washington.  So, how did the Leader of the Free World unwind?  Here’s a look at how the president spent his time in Martha’s Vineyard:

Obama played six rounds of golf with 12 different partners, spending 27.5 hours on three different courses.
He made five outings to local restaurants, including two dinners with friends, one intimate night out with the first lady, one family dinner and one run for fried-food pick-up.
He made four different visits to friends’ homes nearby.
He made one on-camera statement to the press on the crisis in Egypt and his administration’s response.
And he played one game of basketball with friends, went for one family bike ride, and soaked up some sun during one family trip to a local beach.

To be fair, Mr. Obama also managed to continue his ‘endless campaign.’

Obama makes time for politics during Martha’s Vineyard vacation

By Billy Kenber | August 17, 2013

President Obama worked on his golf game, had quiet dinners with his wife and went cycling with his kids. But amid the tourist delights of ice cream parlors and fried clam shacks dotted around Martha’s Vineyard, the hard business of politics was never too far away.

Obama also used his eight-day vacation, which ends Sunday, as an opportunity to spend time with Democratic donors and influential business figures, dropping in on two private social events at the homes of political supporters and inviting important allies to hit the links with him.

On Monday evening, the president and first lady spent the better part of two hours at a cocktail party at the West Tisbury home of Broderick Johnson, a lawyer, Clinton administration official and former lobbyist who served as a senior adviser on Obama’s 2012 campaign, and his wife, Michelle Norris Johnson, an NPR host [sic].

And on Thursday, the first couple attended a soiree at the waterfront home of Brian Roberts, the Comcast chief executive, who has given tens of thousands of dollars to Democratic candidates and party committees.

On the golf course, the president’s partners included Washington power broker Vernon Jordan, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, and Robert Wolf, an Obama donor and a key Wall Street ally

And here is an update on one of his golf partners, via the Wall Street Journal:

Donor With Bain Ties Invited on Obama Golf Outing

By Carol E. Lee | August 18,. 2013

EDGARTOWN, Mass.–President Barack Obama hit the golf course Sunday with a campaign donor who has represented the venture-capital firm he repeatedly attacked in the 2012 election.

Mr. Obama is spending some of the last hours of his eight-day vacation on Martha’s Vineyard with Eunu Chun, a lawyer who has represented Bain Capital.

Mr. Chun, along with some other supporters with Bain Capital ties, raised funds for Mr. Obama’s re-election bid last year…

And, naturally, Obama also found the time to schmooze with some ‘celebrities.’

From the New York Post:

Power-packed Vineyard party for Obama

August 16, 2013

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts’ cocktail party for President Barack Obama and wife Michelle in Martha’s Vineyard last night was attended by a host of notables close to the administration.

Guests included newly nominated ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy, Obama’s senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, National Security Adviser Susan Rice, Attorney General Eric Holder, former “car czar” Steve Rattner, 32 Advisors’ and member of the president’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board Robert Wolf, lawyer and leading civil rights activist Vernon Jordan.

Also there were movie mogul and Obama booster Harvey Weinstein and his wife, Marchesa co-founder Georgina Chapman, Larry David, Carly Simon, Peter Chernin and California Attorney General Kamala Harris

Lest we forget, Mr. Obama memorably called Ms. Harris "by far, the best looking attorney general" during remarks at a fundraiser in California earlier this year. He later called Harris to apologize.

But, gosh, what a star-studded event.

  1. “…lawyer and leading civil rights activist Vernon Jordan.”

Vernon Jordan is a lot of things, but civil rights activist isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. Bilderberger meetings and world government is his main agenga. Let’s not forget that he’s a great freind to the Clinton’s. A very dangerous man.

The rest of that list are just fugly.

  2. Liberals Demise

Big deal …… Nero fiddled while Rome burned, too.
