Obama Sues Arpaio In ‘Civil Rights’ Probe

From a joyous Associated Press:

Feds sue Arizona sheriff in civil rights probe

By Jacques Billeaud, Associated Press Writer
September 2, 2010

PHOENIX – The U.S. Justice Department sued Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Thursday, saying the Arizona lawman refused for more than a year to turn over records in an investigation into allegations his department discriminates against Hispanics.

The lawsuit calls Arpaio and his office’s defiance "unprecedented," and said the federal government has been trying since March 2009 to get officials to comply with its probe of alleged discrimination, unconstitutional searches and seizures, and jail policies that discriminate against people with limited English skills

The use of the word “unprecedented” is a tip-off that this came straight from Mr. Obama.

Arpaio called the Justice Department actions harrassment [sic] at a news conference Thursday morning in downtown Phoenix. His office has said it won’t hand over additional documents because federal authorities haven’t said exactly what they were investigating.

"They have hundreds of thousands of reports, hundreds of thousands," Arpaio said. "They’re so broad, we’re trying to narrow it down. We’re trying to work with them."

Lest we forget, this is the same Justice Department that claims they cannot enforce our nations immigration laws due to a lack of manpower.

So they are going to do their level best to tie up Mr. Arpaio and his men, to make damn sure they don’t enforce our laws, either.

That is just what you want from your Department Of Justice.

Sheriff Joe is just doing his job (Which is more than can be said for anyone in the current regime), The fact that the federales under “Holdup” Holder continue to try (unsuccessfully) to pin civil rights violations on him is a badge of honor. Joe should hold up that badge of honor and (refering to the picture above) show them the other finger. We love you Joe!!!

Having lived in Arizona most of my life, leaving in 1998, I can attest that Sheriff Joe, the REAL Sheriff Joe, not that twit with the hair plugs in DC, is very popular. He corrected a lot of waste and abuse in the prison system, and even prisoners are on record saying he is fair. Maricopa County is huge. 9226 square miles. Phoenix is also in there. Outside city limits, but still “Phoenix” is handled by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department. You may have seen them sometimes on COPS, the TV show.

Joe has been a huge and beneficial resource for law enforcement to the county. He is sometimes disliked but still respected for the job he’s doing.

He is very popular, not the least amoungst his deputies. They are very loyal to him and it would be interesting to see what will happen if they have to choose between Joe and the Justice dept.

    It’s interesting.

The thugs aren’t backing off at all. They are escalating. Recently, turning Arizona into the United Nations, Obamy slurring Beck’s rally, damning Dubya with faint praise while he re-anounced our surrender in the Middle East, the vacations-in-your-face tour, now this outrage.

It’s pretty clear the thugs don’t give a damn about the 2010 elections, isn’t it?

Maybe they think they will be able to play Republicans for fall guys in 2012.

Or maybe they don’t plan on having elections in 2012.

    • BannedbytheTaliban says:

There will be elections, the desPOTUS needs a voter mandate. I suspect they will be like the ‘elections’ in all communist nations.

Pro, I remember when I first came to S&L. One of the things you said has
stuck in my mind – democrats always over-reach. I believe this is yet again an
      over-reach. With everything this POTUS/administration is doing…well, let’s
just say they are pissing off all the right people (no pun intended). It will truly
      be NOvember.

    Pro,
Once again we have similar thoughts on the overall perception of many recent events. The total lack of concern for voter backlash has, lets face it, gotten all of the conservative pundits to grasp at straws with a myriad of explanations, none of which fully answers the question. This frightens me more than anything of all.

Pro and AcornsRNuts – do you remember back a month or so on one of Limbaugh’s programs, he gave his reasons why Bambam isn’t interested in 2012 – he’s more interested in 2016? It went something like this: he’s doing all the damage now because he knows the damage cannot be fixed by any Republican president. The four years he’d be in office would do such significant damage that no-one would be able to turn it around…

…but he would be in the background laughing because he’d ride to the rescue in 2016.

    Just plain devious.

    • proreason says:

I didnt catch that. It’s an interesting theory. And devious enough to satisfy even me.

But I also think the Moron’s credibility has been destroyed with the American voter. Even 4 years of struggle won’t make people think he’s fit for office. And I can’t see him changing his stripes enough to even pretend to be competant. He’s a rigid idealogue, right down the line.

Another interesting theory is that the UN Secty General term expires in Dec 2011. That would fit the Moron’s self-image too a tee, as well as his golfing schedule. He would easily be able to convince himself that with HIM in the role, the powerless laughingstock position would become uber-powerful. That theory strikes a chord with me….it fits perfectly with a one-term Manchurian who fires all his poison arrows in 2 years and then flees to riches knowing the patient is destined to die.

But I also still think they have absolute confidence that they can figure out a way to trick the rubes in 2012. After all, they still own the media, and the media won for them in 2008. Since there is no lie or ploy too outrageous for the marxists to attempt, they probably think they can pull a rabbit out of the hat. They probably have a dozen or more researchers spending full time even now digging into the life history of the top 50 Republican presedential contendors, as just one thread. Don’t forget that they willingly destroyed the economy in September 2008. They will be will to start a hot war in 2012 if they view retaining the presidency as critical, or even nuking some country. They won’t stop at anything, including attempting to cancel the elections.

    • hushpuppy says:

Pro – that’s a logical hypothesis. It wouldn’t be overly surprised if that were to happen, not with Soros in the background pulling strings, buying people off, threats of exposure and whatever else it is he might do to get his intended result. After all the Obmanination did win a Nobel Peace prize after only 8 days in office.

That caught me right off guard!

I still see that jug-eared clodhopper as the proverbial turtle on a fence post: it knows it doesn’t belong there, doesn’t know what to do there, and needed help to get there…

We certainly live in hazardous times: (Is 5:20)
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

  6. hushpuppy says:

Interesting that Nerobama is going the route of language as a theoretical discriminative factor. I guess someone was able to get through his thick skull that using ‘racism’ wasn’t going to be successful.

This guy is so warped and just plain evil I’m having serious trouble keeping up with his rationales in any given subject.

Have your read or listened to Michelle Malkin’s superb book ‘Culture of Corruption’?

While I wouldn’t piss on Arpaio if he was on fire, he’s not my sheriff and surely not as bad as my president. Personally I’d like to see him force all federal officials to seek permission to enter the county or be arrested at the “border”. What are the odds? When that happens I’ll take an active interest.

First sheriff to arrest a fed gets my support. And only that sheriff.
