Obama Supports Using Sports For Politics

From The Hill:

Obama backs Phoenix Suns’ protest of Arizona immigration law

By Michael O’Brien – 05/26/10

President Barack Obama lent support on Tuesday night for the Phoenix Suns’ protest of their home state’s new immigration law.

The president said it was "terrific" that the NBA’s Suns were socially engaged enough to wage a protest during a home playoff game by wearing the "Los Suns" jerseys they typically only wear for games celebrating Hispanic heritage.

"I think that just because somebody’s a sports figure or you’ve got a sports team doesn’t mean that you’re not part of the community and you’re not part of our democracy," Obama said during a halftime interview on TNT. "I think it’s terrific that the Suns, who obviously feel very strongly about their community, recognize that a big part of their community felt threatened by this new law."

Obama said that the Suns were following in the example of other sporting greats like tennis star Arthur Ashe and NBA legend Bill Russell, who spoke out about the social issues of their time.

And of course his real heroes are the US boxing team members who gave the ‘Black Power salute’ at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City.

"You wouldn’t always agree with them, but that sense that people are engaged in the big issues of the day, I think, is a positive thing," Obama said.

"I don’t think that either players or franchises need to always steer away from controversy," the president added. "I happen to personally think that the Arizona law is a bad idea — I’ve said so publicly — and I see no reason why these guys can’t make the same statement."

So Mr. Obama is now going to intercede to make sure Mr. Limbaugh can be part of the buyers for the St. Louis Rams?

Just kidding. Mr. Obama only approves of people being “engaged in the big issues” from the left.

By the way, notice that Mr. Obama is so proud of his position here he had his minions put the video of this interview up on the White House website.

As the liberal saying goes, “Everything is political.”

Stop for a moment and realize how unethical, animalistic, childish, and petty that really is.

They think liberal, buy liberal, live liberal, choices/behaviors/morals/awards/actions–their entire existence is based on the 1st, 2nd, and ONLY premise of whether something is sufficiently liberal (or political) enough for their liking or not.

When you suspect that a, oh, a Nobel Peace Prize, Daytime talk show awards, Emmy Awards, government handouts, laws, judgments or ANYTHING has an outcome favorable to the liberal political machine…..you are right.

And health care is next. . .

      Exactly right Mith.

Oh sure, everybody has the right to express their view. Except when the Arizonans actually express their concern over the border by demanding it get enforced; then the President will fly a foreign indignitary up and give him a 5 star state dinner and lazer-light show to scold and chastise them.

Everybody’s opinion is valid except ours, which of course is the truth.

And yes, everything is a political. Everything this bunch will ever do will always be precalculated to send or advance a message.

Here we live in a time when, well, as I was growing up, they showed me movies of Hitler’s speeches and described in detail how Goebbels used words and phrases to shape and paint pictures the masses could attach themselves to and they would stir up emotions to get them to act.

All with the point that doing so, is not good or appropriate when rabble-rousing the public into a frenzy.

How then, can people not see these propagandist showcases for what they are? The answer may be that people are no longer cynical like when I was a kid. Everyone is living a “positive mental attitude” which is tantamount to rose-colored glasses.

My god, the basketball court, with the net in the background…and sitting in deck chairs having a “casual” (unrehearsed?) chat? Where’s the teleprompter? It HAS to be within sight of the boy’s vision. This is a scripted, fake, plastic, put-on. But all here pretty much know that.

But for the drooling masses who voted for this clown? Well, they are largely the same people whose very lives hinge on the outcome of American Idol and any “reality-based” TV show. They CANNOT tell the difference. They do not think outside the box that the borders of the TV set has created for them. No thinking required…the TV does it for them.

    It’s preposterous.

I said it before…along with others here…Obalmy’s ONLY job is to destroy this country on every level possible. This has been the policy and game plan for him and his handlers and puppet masters from way before we even knew his name.

Obalmy is only the face to this monster machine.

Name one thing…only one…he has done that has improved this country or this country’s status in the world?

It boggles my mind that people are still so naive or stupid or “out of it” that they can’t see that. (Just under half still believe Obalmy is doing a good job!!!!!)

And now he is doing what the commies do best…politicize what should be a fun day out. Those guys standing there with those black gloved fisted stances are meant to be intimidating. That’s the only way these people know how to work.

With him knowing his political days are numbered, I’m back to feeling how I felt at the beginning of his term…watching everyday as another horror is inflicted on the country and the true Americans. Every day we find another atrocity to fight.

Probably the ONLY time in his life he told the truth was when he told the people we were on the eve of “fundamentally changing America”
This is NOT the America I know and love.

One thing for sure, we Americans are no longer asleep. We KNOW they have and will continue to undermine this what this country is, has been and should be.

Stay awake everyone….Even if we win this battle…they are not going away. American people need to stay alert and continue to fight these evil idiots. We need to take back our children and schools and teach truth to our children or they too will be taken in…yet again.

We have to stop being polyannas and know there really is someone trying to kill us and no it won’t work itself out like it always has before.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I hear complaints about Obalmy and then hear from the same people, “Oh, I don’t get involved in politics..its too depressing” ! Of then course these folks go back to their “reality tv”. There’s a reality about to hit and they won’t know what the H*** hit them.

Yes, but Rush Limbaugh is too divisive to own a football team.

Obama says big issues of today are the Suns NBA team feeling their community is “threatened” ? by Arizona who is only trying to make their communities safer?
Now we understand the Suns Basketball players live in their big houses,
and don’t want to lose their illegal pool cleaners, maids, yard workers, butt wipers, and young latino women who won’t cry rape, ….since Obama’s main goal change for basketball is cheaper tickets.

Obama’s too close friendship with Kolbe Bryant mistakenly chose a US citizen hotel worker to rape. Obama admits Kolbe Bryant is ” the fiercest” player in basketball. Kolbe the most “fierce: rapacious, barbarious, unhuman, cruel,……Websters.
Who is Obama’s great friend Charles, and to invite a reporter to play with him anytime.? I’m betting Obama practices basketball daily.
At least we know Obama did not really go back on his promised invitation to the Special Olympic bowler to a game, he’s still practicing.
As Obama repeatedly warned Mark, Obama is a very sore loser and if you beat him you will be made to feel very very bad. Like, the fierce, rapacious, Kolbe and his thugs threatening that girl not to testify.

Once again, Obama sides against the American people.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Which, of course, you can bank on. Just about the ONLY thing you can bank on. But at least the enemy is visible and does not mask his moves. Like Rush has pointed out and as others on this blog have recognized even before Rush did: He always tells you his real intentions. You just have to listen. It’s not even hard to do. If he says, “This action is not in any way to criticize or harm the American people” then you can bet it certainly is. This may be what he meant by “transparency” for even Truman was more obscure at times.

Nope, like so many two-bit hoods, the boy thinks he is the slickest, cleverest, most stealthy “dude” out there. He certainly thinks he could out-jink Michael Jordan on the basketball court if only given the chance. He also thinks that, due to people telling him his whole life how smart he is, that he actually is, until he tries to face off with someone who truly is smart. And that’s not hard to find.

He knows nothing about anything. He is not a “detail guy”. He’s like so many “managers” I’ve run into who says, “get this done” and has no idea of the mechanics, the logistics or the needed money to do it, even. Then, when the task is un-doable, he finds a scapegoat.

He managed his own life poorly up to the time he “wrote a book”. What we know of him that is visible is pretty bad. A Smoker…which in and of itself is not earth-shattering nor reason for condemnation, but instead his hypocrisy of telling others they live badly while he, himself is given a pass because of the “stress” he’s under. My god, if he goes on another vacation, I can easily see why he has to smoke…the travel alone….is ….stressful.

His personality is all about the lie. And the lie varies depending on who he telling it to. His central core(That’s C-O-R-E, without a P-S), for lack of a better term, is flexible, fluid self-gratification which generally makes liars of all those who function that way. Starts with trying to get the sweet snack from momma, then to convince the girl to go out with him (Makes me wonder what whoppers he told Mitch-hell and then…what whoppers she told him in kind), and they cannot stop. I had several of that type work for me in the military. I always enjoyed keeping a list of their lies, then reading them off one by one and providing commentary…while occasionally noting the look on their face. Of course the really practiced liars came up with other lies to rationalize all the others.

Nope, he is permanently and irreparably broken intellectually, emotionally and ethically. Were it not for 96% of the hyphenated people who voted voting their color, we would’ve had McSame, but at least we wouldn’t have government-grade healthcare. The war in Afghanistan would actually be MANAGED vs a convenient (or inconvenient, depending on the winds) tool for political purposes.

And, McSame actually knows about duty, honor and country. I grant you he would be leaning to the left and not because of any chronic war-injuries. I have a hard time dissing McCain but I know he often seems to row where the current is strongest on the left. That bothers me as well as a good half of the nation.

But the boy who sits in the president’s chair? Not an adult, never had a job, doesn’t know squat, hates America, hates anyone who disagrees with him, wants to be pronounced supreme ruler of all the world because, after all, why would they tell him he was sooooo smart if he really wasn’t? I mean, they meant it, right? There was no saying so just because they felt guilty..or because they wanted to butter him up for when they needed him later, right? That’s just cynical.

  7. BobonStatenIsland says:

“I think it’s terrific that the Suns, who obviously feel very strongly about their community, recognize that a big part of their community felt threatened by this new law.” … As in, The Suns won’t have anybody to remove the empty champaigne bottles from the VIP section of the club.

How’s about those wonderful Suns give a few nights worth of tickets to them poor Mexican Peoples.

  8. BobonStatenIsland says:

Oh, and did Los Suns hire Spanish speaking announcers for the nights they don those jerseys? How about an ALL SPANISH EVENING WITH LOS SUNS? Guess they might lose some viewers. Just what the NBA needs. All Spanish Tattoo Night! That’ll work. Have the tickets for those nights look like Social Security Cards. To really make it authentic, suspend ALL THE RULES that night. No “out of bounds”, no fouls, no off sides. Get rid of the Refs (they’re all betting on the game anyway). Make both teams wear the same jerseys because we are all one world.

Once Micheal Jordon left that sport it has taken a huge dive. It couldn’t be more currupt.

  9. joeblough says:

In a way it’s kind of folksy to see and American president coming out in support of his values like that.

Now if only his values weren’t treasonous and disgusting …

Can’t we impeach this bastard yet?

(And I mean bastard in every possible sense).

      Great find, RB !!!!!
