Obama Takes Victory Lap At Lincoln Mem.

From an unquestioning and uninformed ABC News:

Obama Victory Lap at Lincoln Memorial

Beaming with enthusiasm, President Obama surprised tourists with an appearance at the Lincoln Memorial Saturday afternoon. He was there to make the point that places such as the Lincoln Memorial are open today because The White House and House Republicans reached a budget agreement keeping the government open.

"Because Congress was able to settle its differences that’s why this place is open today and everybody’s able to enjoy their visit," Obama told visitors.

"And that’s the kind of future cooperation I hope we have going forward ‘cause this is what America is all about – everybody from different places enjoying those things that bind us together," he added.

It’s always about diversity with him.

The president got out of his motorcade and rushed up the steps at the memorial where he took a few minutes to shake hands and talk with visitors.

Obama made the trip not long after signing a continuing resolution that will keep the government open until Congress votes on last night’s last minute deal.

The Lincoln Memorial is one of the president’s favorite spots in DC, White House staffers say.

Mr. Obama probably likes to go there to think about how his statue will look, sitting next to Mr. Lincoln’s. But wasn’t Mr. Lincoln the father of the Republican Party?

Do notice, however, that this stop was so ‘unplanned’ the reporters and photographers just happened to be there.

Note, too, that no one in the news media seems to realize that the Lincoln Memorial is always open, since it is entirely outdoors. Indeed, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial ‘Wall,’ as well as The Mall itself are never physically closed. How could they be?

Crowds of people visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Saturday, April 9, 2011, in Washington.

The Associated Press even ran a photograph of crowds visiting the Vietnam War wall alongside their stories about the averted government shutdown.

Still, we suppose we should be grateful Mr. Obama didn’t try to take credit for the cherry trees around the Tidal Basin still blooming, while he was at it.

Nevertheless, looking at the big picture, this might be good news for the Republicans. Apparently, they can now do whatever they want, budget-wise, and Mr. Obama will treat it like a great success and try to take credit for it.

So the GOP can get away with giving more money to the rich and starving the poor and elderly without any fear of criticism from the media. That is, as long as they let Mr. Obama have all the glory.

If you are the least little bit confused about who “won” the budget “debate”, you might reread this report, and the thousands of others where the boy king trumpets his victory.

    And why shouldn’t he?

After all, he has added a trillion dollars to the budget in just two years. And how did the Republicans “punish” him? by reducing the budget by 1%. Yes, that’s right. 1%. In other words, by about 9 hours of spending. John Boner spanked him with a feather.

Little Lenin shouldn’t be just trumpeting his victory. He should go to Mount Olympus, rip off his shirt, and stomp on pictures of John Boehner while shouting “I won I won I won” at the top of his lungs.

    I don’t understand.

In the article http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/national_world/stories/2011/04/09/presidential-dream-long-walk-in-the-park.html?sid=101, Mr. Obama said that golf was the only way he could get outside for any period of time. Now he shows up at the Lincoln Memorial. Did he lie to the American people? Again?

How is it a ‘victory’ if Dear Readers numbers are plummeting daily – he did not get ‘boosts’ from anything he has done since he started R.U.INning the American economy.
-He promised to close Gitmo – it’s still open
-He promised to try and/or release the unfortunate freedom fighters being held in Gitmo – tribunals are being set up as we speak
-He promised to cut the deficit by the end of his first term – well this says it best – As for the deficit, CBO shows that over the first three years of the Obama Presidency, 2009-2011, the federal government will borrow an estimated $3.7 trillion. That is more than the entire accumulated national debt for the first 225 years of U.S. history.
-He promised the Troops would be out of Iraq and cut back in Afghanistan – well we are still waiting for Iraq withdrawal and he doubled down in Afghanistan
-He was against raising the debt ceiling – before he will announce a ‘dire straits, end of the economy scenario’ on Wed to encourage Congress raise the debt ceiling
-He was against raising taxes before he will announce a ‘dire straits, end of the economy scenario’ on Wed to encourage Congress to raise taxes on all Americans – except the poor which now will be anyone not making less than $50,000.

And this is just off the top of my head.

And oh, yes just a mere 5 years ago (under the evil bushitlerburtonco) – Reid was totally against raising the debt ceiling – everything is just a big LIE. But I’d bet money (which we have almost none left) that Reid will stand behind (oh, my bad The Big O doesn’t let anyone stand with him unless he is signing another American destroying pos ‘bill’) will go out after The Big O speaks and say that we have to raise the debt ceiling to give to the poor. . . and keep Grandma from eating cat food.

And Boehner should not have caved at all – go for broke – this is the result of the 111th (most ethical) Congress not passing a budget for fiscal year 2001. We are quibbling over something that should have been done ages ago. He should have stood firm for the 100 billion – a couple of trillion – REPEAL TWMBR – go for it all – We are at the end – not only is our ‘credit card maxed out’ – we are spending money our grandchildren haven’t even begun to make yet.

It is immoral, it is unjust, it is un-American and it should be illegal.

  4. Natural Born Citizen says:

Amen to that. In the week preceding the budget cut the deficit went up 54 billion dollars while we cut 38.5B. We are borrowing 40 cents of each dollar we spend and only making a minimum payment on the credit card.

  5. GetBackJack says:

Lincoln Memorial? Lincoln would have the man deported.

  6. Chase says:

Reagan spent like crazy to cause the implosion of our long-term enemy.

Obama is just trying to do the same thing, except this time the enemy is our country.
