Obama To Commemorate ‘Stonewall’

Mentioned in passing by the flagship homosexual media outlet, the New York Times:

The Stonewall, a bar in part of the building where the Stonewall Inn was located. The building and the surrounding streets have been declared a National Historic Landmark.

Political Shifts on Gay Rights Lag Behind Culture

June 28, 2009

WASHINGTON — For 15 minutes in the Oval Office the other day, one of President Obama’s top campaign lieutenants, Steve Hildebrand, told the president about the “hurt, anxiety and anger” that he and other gay supporters felt over the slow pace of the White House’s engagement with gay issues.

But on Monday, 250 gay leaders are to join Mr. Obama in the East Room to commemorate publicly the 40th anniversary of the birth of the modern gay rights movement: a police raid on the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York. By contrast, the first time gay leaders were invited to the White House, in March 1977, they met a midlevel aide on a Saturday when the press and President Jimmy Carter were nowhere in sight…

(It should be noted that Mr. Nagourney is himself a homosexual and a relentless propagandist for the ‘homosexual rights’ movement.)

So what exactly is being commemorated?

Some details about the so-called ‘Stonewall Riots’ from the (very sympathetic and) heavily footnoted entry in Wikipedia:

This photograph appeared in the front page of The New York Daily News on Sunday, June 29, 1969, showing the "street kids" who were the first to fight with the police.

Stonewall riots

The Stonewall riots were a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations against a police raid that took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn, in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City…

The Stonewall Inn, located at 51 and 53 Christopher Street, along with several other establishments in the city, was owned by the Genovese family. In 1966, three members of the Mafia invested $3,500 to turn the Stonewall Inn into a gay bar, after it had been a restaurant and a nightclub for heterosexuals.

Once a week a police officer would collect envelopes of cash as a payoff; the Stonewall Inn had no liquor license. It had no running water behind the bar—used glasses were run through tubs of water and immediately reused. There were no fire exits, and the toilets overran consistently

Visitors to the Stonewall in 1969 were greeted by a bouncer who inspected them through a peephole in the door. The legal drinking age was 18, and to avoid unwittingly letting in undercover police (who were called "Lily Law", "Alice Blue Gown", or "Betty Badge"), visitors would have to be known by the doorman, or look gay. The entrance fee on weekends was $3, for which the customer received two tickets that could be exchanged for two drinks. Patrons were required to sign their names in a book to prove that the bar was a private "bottle club", but rarely signed their real names…

Younger homeless adolescent males, who slept in nearby Christopher Park, would often try to get in so customers would buy them drinks. The age range of the clientele was between the upper teens and early thirties…

The only photograph taken during the first night of the riots shows the homeless youth that slept in nearby Christopher Park, scuffling with police.

The Mattachine Society newsletter a month later offered its explanation of why the riots occurred: "It catered largely to a group of people who are not welcome in, or cannot afford, other places of homosexual social gathering…. The Stonewall became home to these kids. When it was raided, they fought for it. That, and the fact that they had nothing to lose other than the most tolerant and broadminded gay place in town, explains why."

Garbage cans, garbage, bottles, rocks, and bricks were hurled at the building, breaking the windows. Witnesses attest that "flame queens", hustlers, and gay "street kids"—the most outcast people in the gay community—were responsible for the first volley of projectiles, as well as the uprooting of a parking meter used as a battering ram on the doors of the Stonewall Inn…

Our President is commemorating a raid on a bar that was operating illegally without a liquor license, without a cabaret license (required for dancing), and without meeting even the most basic fire and other public safety standards.

A bar run by the mafia. A bar which paid off the police. A bar that sold liquor to minors, and which encouraged them to prostitute themselves.

Our nation is commemorating a ‘riot’ that was started by these same under-aged male prostitutes and their pederast patrons.

What a glorious event to celebrate.

What a perfect emblem of everything that has gone wrong with our country in the last fifty years.

Speaking of our unbiased media, here is one paragraph from the Out.com article referenced above, enumerating some of the homosexual reporters who were covering the campaigns during the last election:

    Our Boys On The Bus

Inside the insular world of gay campaign reporters.

    By Jesse Oxfeld

… The chief political correspondent for The New York Times since 2002, Adam Nagourney, is gay, as is his predecessor in that job, Rick Berke, who started in the paper’s Washington bureau in 1986 and is now a top-level editor in New York. Likewise the Times’s lead Barack Obama reporter, Jeff Zeleny, its lead Hillary Clinton reporter, Patrick Healy, and the man who ambled behind George W. Bush in 2000, Frank Bruni, now the paper’s restaurant critic. (Jeremy Peters, a rising star in the Albany bureau, occasionally joined the campaign crew for those nights out at The Garden and Des Moines’s two other gay bars, the delightfully named Blazing Saddle and Frat House.) There’s Michael Finnegan, a campaign heavyweight at the Los Angeles Times, and Jonathan Darman, Newsweek’s 27-year-old wunderkind political scribe; there’s Candy Crowley’s producer at CNN, Mike Roselli, his fellow CNN producer Chris Welch, who was the network’s off-air in Iowa, and producers from CBS’s The Early Show, ABC’s Nightline, and, of course, Logo…

Mind you, these are just the reporters who are openly homosexual.

This is what they call ‘diversity.’

I’ve been saying for some time that the in-your-face anger of the looney left is created by queers.

Other than the anger genned up by the likes of “Reverend Al” and Jesse Jackson, other minority groups aren’t nearly as pissed off as the “movement” would lead you to believe. And the Reverends are actually just businessmen, after all. Their business is shaking down white people. Hardened criminals are an exception, but there are plenty of really angry white criminals as well. Despite what they say, the anger of hardened criminals isn’t generated by racism or class warfare. Hardened criminals are just angry and violent by nature and other circumstances of their lives.

But the in-your-face queers……they are over-the-top angry. Just take a look at Rosie’s face, or Perez’ face, or Drooling Barney’s face. They are filled with uncontrollable overwhelming hate and rage about something, most likely themselves, and taking it out on society. (Note: for sure, there are more peaceful gay people than the bulging-vein types. My comments are restricted to the vein poppers like Perez.)

So learning that the Slimes is dominated by queers makes perfect sense to me. What do you want to bet they hate themselves more than they hate bushhitler.

Sounds to me like he is commemorating his own life.

    Sodom and Gomora?

Completely sane response to your question –

Like the feminazis – the desire to destroy the foundation of society, culture and ultimately the country – the family – is first and foremost in the mind of all socialists most especially the American version. It started with sending women off to ‘work’ (i.e. we must all be ‘productive’ citizens) which also put all the children into control (talk about indoctrination) of someone other than the parents almost from birth. Then we institute an abortion scheme so that women don’t even have to worry about that pesky child(ren) in the way problem and it also eased the way into the next two steps on that ladder euthanasia and of course embryonic stem cell research and cloning. If it doesn’t work and is morally reprehensible – the liberals love it. And then we attack that foundation and it’s partner, religion by riling up the 2% of the population that used to be seen as mentally ill – the homosexual crowd. It is all working so fine. Isn’t it?

Now the insane response to your question-

I am surprised that in July Obama won’t be celebrating that massive event that enabled so many (Frank, Dodd, Rangel, Jefferson and of course Geithner) to remain not only in positions of power but to do with their heads held high:

The July 18/19, 1969 the murder of Mary Jo Kopechne. And while I can not believe that Kennedy was not only not in jail and out of office, but that he has been continually re-elected – I blame the local LEOs and DA and the MA citizens who did not rally for his ouster but most importantly Miss Kopechne’s parents who let this travesty of their daughters intentional murder go by for a mere $140,904.00 (weird amount, no?!?).

There would be no amount of money I could be paid, nor public disgrace or censure that would have stopped me from seeing that the man who killed my daughter would at least face justice – even if it were eventually denied by a panel of 12 cowards.

This is just so Obama and in-your-face religious/conservative/moral people event – That I can’t see the Obama Thug Administration not celebrating this one. And it could be a tribute to The Liberal Lion before he goes into that dark goodnight of not even knowing who the heck he is, much less anything else.

      //sarc (and insanity) off

    • proreason says:

      where is the insane part?

    • U NO HOO says:

      “$140,904.00 (weird amount, no?!?).”

Probably just an actuarial computation, present value of Mary Jo’s expected earnings. Remember wages in 1969?

Remember that Ms. Kopechne was a Democrat from northeast PA, look at the purple election map. Her parents were, I don’t know this. probably proud that their daughter was working for Ted Kennedy (swoon here) and of course it was just an accident, so take the money and run.

      Am I cynical? Yes!

Which brings me to an unrelated thought.

The 20th of July this year will mark the 40th anniversary of landing and walking on the Moon. As far as commemorating something, I would think that our fearless liter (Malaprop intended) would make at least a speech.

Let’s just see if he does and if so, what kind of warped inclination it will have, shall we?

Not trying to pirate the discussion here, but while watching “From The Earth To The Moon” last night, it occurred to me that the 40th anniversay is fast approaching. So I pondered how the event might be marked by the loser who is the chief exec.

There is nothing on the Smithsonian’s Air & Space calendar for that day, a Monday. Houston has some things planned. Of course, the 50th is a much bigger deal but 40 is significant. I’ll bet if he says anything he’ll condemn it somehow.

Please continue with the rest of the discussion on the gay bar celebration. If anything was worthy of commemoration, that would be it…an illegal, mob-run fire-trap of a gay bar colluding with corruption and perversion. Nice.

You go barry!!! You’ve got your priorities right up your a** (pun intended)

  5. MinnesotaRush says:

Now this isn’t the same o-blah-blah who claims “to respect democratic norms, the rule of law ..” , is it? Or is it his evil twin?

Yeah….Jemmah may be stupid, but he’s not BLOODY stupid.

  7. bronzeprofessor says:

I have to be honest, all the gay people I’ve known in my life have been hardworking, law-abiding, profoundly conservative people. Their neighborhoods are very clean and they are good entrepreneurs. I don’t feel very strongly one way or the other about gay marriage.

I have many gay colleagues and they all would make wonderful Republicans, if only we could overcome the theological troubles of Genesis 19, Leviticus, and Paul’s letters.

I know, from my gay colleagues, that Obama’s stock is going down very quickly in their community. I do not think they will be as loyal to Democrats as blacks have been; the GLBTs are severely alienated from Obama and there are rising GOP stars who may be able to win their votes and money based on common libertarian and law-and-order principles. (Most gays are very supportive of the police since they want to be protected from gay bashers.)

Obama’s commemoration of Stonewall is being received, by gays, largely as pandering and condescension and a distraction from Obama’s reticence on marriage rights, the military, and the abuse of homosexuals in Islamic extremist countries. I wouldn’t take this story as anything significant.

  8. canary says:

Obama is playing down gay rumors, and the gays just need to be patient. Obama wants to appear straight and try and lock that image in. He’s just trying to offset things at this time, to counteract his feely thing for bowing, hugging, handsy ways.
Gay marriage is not a personal need of Obama, so he’s not going to rush it.

  9. 12 Gauge Rage says:

When I saw the header my first reaction was that our ‘dear leader’ was trying to honor that great Son of the South General Stonewall Jackson. How foolish of me.

BP, my experiences with gays and lesbians in my workplace has been pretty much the same. I find them to be hardworking and honest. They know that I’m straight and disagree with their orientation but they never try to argue the point nor get in my face about it.

  10. mrfocus says:

It looks like Duke University has another rape case on its hands. This one may hurt the university nearly as much as the one that rocked its campus back in 2006. Unlike the previous case, this one appears to involve a credible confession of sexual abuse. Like the previous case, crucial facts are already being filtered through the prism of identity politics.

Frank Lombard is the associate director of Duke’s Center for Health Policy. The university administrator was recently arrested by the FBI and charged with offering up his adopted 5-year-old son for sex. I tried to contact Frank Lombard over the weekend to probe his expertise regarding the health benefits of raping small children. So far, he’s declined to comment.

University administrator Lombard is accused of logging on to a chat room online and describing himself as a “perv dad for fun.” The detective who wisely looked into the suspicious screen name says that Lombard admitted to molesting his own adopted son. All this was before allegedly inviting a stranger to travel to North Carolina from another state to statutorily rape his already-molested adopted son.

Interesting comment by poster Gloria in VDH’s blog:

    “62. Gloria:

“Mike, #3, is only partially right when he gives this explanation for Obama’s ignorance of history: “(1) President Obama’s view of history is, in many ways, what he probably learned in college history courses taught by Marxists whose primary goal was not the imparting of knowledge, but indoctrination.”

I suggest Obama didn’t get his history from courses. He got it from doing the reading his East German Communist handler gave him. I have a Ph.D and I discovered in the 1970s and 1980s that every time I went to a conference, either as a graduate student or as an academic, I always seemed to run into some person who tried to recruit me into the Communist party I quickly realized after the first attempt that I was a target because I was the first person in my extended family to graduate from high school, and of course the first person to ever attend college. Given my experience regarding Communist attempts to recruit working class academics like myself, I am quite sure that Obama would have been actively sought after..

This is the first time I’ve seen a comment so explicit about the probability that Obamy has had a long involvement with Communist handlers.

  13. artboyusa says:

    From the Artboy Archives:

The President sprinkled another heaping spoonful of stem cells over his cornflakes and began to munch away. “Wanna try shum?” he asked White House Chief of Staff and Head Doorman Rahm “Racoon” Emanuel.

    “Um, no thanks Mr President”.

“Fulla protein” urged the jug eared politico. “Good for you”.

“I already had some protein this morning, sir” said Rahm.

“Yeah; I bet you did” said the President. “That’s what I wanted to talk to you about”.

“Look Rahm; as you know my administration is about changing outdated attitudes and dragging this dumbass country into a brighter tomorrow where we can take our positive message of hope and change and shove it down their stupid, ignorant throats until they fucking choke on it…”

    “Yessir!” enthused Rahm.

“But despite my 70% approval ratings, we still have to be careful, Racoon. We still have to make sure we always present a positive, happy face to the world” said the President, doodling skulls and daggers dripping blood onto a thick sheaf of papers headed “Enemies List: Updated Daily”.

    “Certainly, sir”.

“And I’m just wondering if that happy face has room on it for someone like you who is, um, such a screaming homo”.

“WHAT???!!!” ejaculated Rahm. “I don’t believe this! Homo! Me! Oh my god!”

“Now look, Racoon; we go back a long ways and I’ve never held it against you that you’re the tail gunning, rump riding, pillow biting bum boy faggot that you so definitely are” soothed the president. “I never said a word about your eye shadow or your mincing, prancing, bitching behaviour and I told everyone that your collection of Barbies and Judy Garland records were only colorful eccentricities”.

“But I’m not gay!” protested Rahm. “I’m straight – I like girls! Honest!”

“Yeah, sure.” tutted the President. “As straight as a pool party at Rock Hudson’s house. Listen, Racoon; I’m trying to help you out here, you little fairy. I think its time you got married”.

“But I am married. You’ve met her!”

“Met him, you mean – and very convincing he is, but I’m not here to judge you, you pathetic sodomite. I’m just saying that we need the black vote and we need the Hispanic vote and I wouldn’t mind some of those evangelicals either and, sorry, but queens don’t go down well – if you’ll excuse the expression – with any of those communities. So you need to butch it up pronto if you want to stay on with our progressive, forward looking and open minded team”.

    “BUT I’M NOT GAY!”

“So sad” sighed the President. “So very sad; a classic case of denial. Look, you can’t stay in the closet forever, Rahm. It’s just not healthy. Its best that you learn to accept that you are what you are”.

“But I am what I am!”

“So is Popeye the Sailor Man, and we all know what goes on below decks during those long sea voyages” said the Great Helmsman. “And I notice you said ‘butt’ twice just now. That’s a very interesting choice of word, don’t you think?”

“Huh? But I said ‘but, not ‘butt’”.

“See? You just did it again: ‘butt’, ‘butt’, butt’, that’s all you people think about. You’re obsessed with it, aren’t you?”

“Ah ha! There you go again. Look, the marriage would only be for show. It needn’t keep you away from your real, you know, proclivities – you’d just need to be a little more discreet, that’s all”.

“But – I mean, on the contrary, I’m NOT GAY – I swear to you! This is like a nightmare from which I can’t wake up!”

“Now you know how the country feels. Look, I’ve already spoken to Hillary and after her divorce comes through she’s more than willing…”

“HILLARY??? Oh no! Oh no! Now I wish I really was gay!”

“See? You’re already starting to come to terms with it. Good for you, Rahm. Good for you…”

  14. The Redneck says:

Obama’s commemoration of Stonewall is being received, by gays, largely as pandering and condescension and a distraction from Obama’s reticence on marriage rights, the military, and the abuse of homosexuals in Islamic extremist countries.

    (emphasis mine)

That’s a key point. Like the hardcore feminists, these people aren’t concerned about the plight of ‘their people’ in countries where actual oppression take place. When ‘their people’ are burned alive or stoned to death in the nations of our enemies, the general response from feninists and homosexual advocates alike is a big yawn before they return to their constant attacks against Christianity.

Among those who claim to fight for ‘gay rights’, the rights of homosexuals (which, by and large, are already secured) are very low on their list of priorities. A hostility towards the United States in general and Christianity in particular is at the top.

  15. canary says:

Yeah, I’ve watched & read some of those alleged remarks from the man who claimed he purchased cocaine for the big politican, who really had a craving. The most zealous speech I think Obama has given yet, was telling the gay’s they wouldn’t have to wait much longer. The news said he had been meeting frequently with those orgs leaders, but media didn’t play on it much. We know Obama’s marriage had alot of problems, according to Audacity.
Obama wondered if one of the reason he spent so much time holed up in his house office, which upset Michelle was because he was an only child. Yeah right. She would tell him, she felt she was raising the children alone. She’s one happy gal glamor jet setting gal now.
