Obama To Give Palestinians Yet Another $700M

Here is another ‘Friday evening news dump.’ And notice that it is from the French news agency. There has been little mention of this in the US news media.

From the Agence France Presse:

US unblocks $500M for Palestinians

March 23, 2013

The United States has quietly unblocked almost $500 million in aid to the Palestinian Authority which had been frozen by Congress for months, a top US official said Friday.

The news that the funds had finally been freed up came after US President Barack Obama met top Israeli and Palestinian leaders in a landmark visit to Israel and the West Bank earlier this week.

"To date, we have moved $295.7 million in fiscal year 2012 money… and $200 million in fiscal year 2013 assistance," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters.

This must be to reward the Palestinian for their good behavior. Such as missing Obama with their rocket attacks.

The Obama administration also notified Congress in late February that it was seeking a further $200 million to fund US Agency for International Development (USAID) programs for the Palestinians, she said…

So the total is actually $700 millions dollars. Not $500 million. Why is the AFP downplaying the numbers?

The Palestinian Authority is facing its worst economic crisis in years, in part because of a failure by donors to deliver pledged funds…

The insanely rich Arab world cannot fund their darling, the Palestinian Authority? Why is that?

That means the insanely rich Arab world, who for some reason never manage to fund their darling Palestinians. In fact, for the record, the US has been the top ‘donor’ to the Palestinians for the last twenty years. And yet here we are giving them another $700 million dollars.

After all, who cares about the sequester? Even though you could buy a lot of White House tours for $700 million dollars.

But its finances were plunged further into chaos after president Mahmud Abbas won upgraded UN observer status at the UN General Assembly in late November.

Congress froze the US administration’s requests for funds…

We shouldn’t be giving them any money.

It did, however, transfer $100 million in a one-off payment in late January…

What a typical ‘freeze.’

Kerry has pushed for the funds to be released since taking up his post on February 1.

He has also pushed for increased aid to Egypt and Pakistan and who knows who else? He seems to think everyone is as easily bought off as he is.

  1. But … but … the churlden

What about the churlden? Are they doing this for the churlden?

  2. So we’re giving the Palestinian “government” $700M because “…The Palestinian Authority is facing its worst economic crisis in years…” ? Are you kidding me? SO IS THE MIDDLE CLASS OF THE USA! Where is our $700M bailout.

There were, in 2008, roughly 156 million income taxpayers in the USA. That’s $4.48 million per American income tax payer. If Obama would just spread this money around to American taxpayers instead of a bunch of terrorist thugs, we’d all be rich and then we could all pay higher taxes. There, I’ve solved all our fiscal problems. I’ll take my $4.4M in gold coins.

Why the hell are we propping up goverments who burn our flags and call for our destruction. I don’t see how throwing money at the pali’s is going to help anything. Having an “economically viable” pali authority as a partner in regional piece is insane. Hamas and their backers are taking over more land and territory from Fatah. Eventually all we are going to be doing is bankrolling Hamas to attack Israel, though we are already doing that with Egypt and the other islamic tin pot dictator/theocrats.

“$100 million earmarked specifically for narcotics control” is to pay for another U.S.”fast and furious” in Palestinian, though much will be spent on rockets to take out houses and buildings.

  5. Liberals Demise

I want to know who do we save.
The poor child or the disabled one.
