Obama To Veto Bill Requiring He Follow Law

From the Washington Examiner:

Obama threatens vetoes of bills requiring him to follow the law

By Joel Gehrke | March 12, 2014

President Obama is threatening to veto a law that would allow Congress to sue him in federal courts for arbitrarily changing or refusing to enforce federal laws because it "violates the separation of powers" by encroaching on his presidential authority.

Isn’t irony ironic? Obama is shredding the ‘separation of powers’ on a daily basis. Still, at least he isn’t threatening to drone any Congressmen who oppose his diktats. Not yet, anyway.

"[T]he power the bill purports to assign to Congress to sue the President over whether he has properly discharged his constitutional obligation to take care that the laws be faithfully executed exceeds constitutional limitations," the White House Office of Management and Budget said Wednesday in a statement of administration policy. "Congress may not assign such power to itself, nor may it assign to the courts the task of resolving such generalized political disputes."

Right. Democrats never want political disputes to be resolved by judges. They would never stand for such a thing.

The lead sponsor of the measure, Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., said it was designed to curb Obama’s abuse of presidential authority, most notably in his frequent changes to Obamacare.

"We have pursued certain remedies afforded to Congress to address executive overreach but these efforts have been thwarted," Gowdy said. "This bill is necessary; it will give Congress the authority to defend this branch of government as the Framers and our fellow citizens would expect."

Obama also threatened to veto another bill by Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., which would require the administration to explain decisions not to enforce laws when those decisions are rooted in policy concerns rather than just constitutional concerns (which the Justice Department is already required to do).

"The American people deserve to know exactly which laws the Obama administration is refusing to enforce and why," DeSantis said when introducing his bill…

Come on! Just because the Constitution says in Article II, Section 3: “[the President] shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed,” it doesn’t mean that the President can’t change the laws, or ignore them if he doesn’t like them.

Be reasonable.

I’m just trying to sort out how the end of this term will come to pass.

Or even if it will come to pass. Many have said he desires dictatorial powers and I have to acknowledge he uses all the same rhetoric that past dictators have used to validate his “argument”; “fairness” being chief among them.

But it worries me that in similar vein as the destruction of the Weimar Republic of Germany when uncle Adolph was given powers so that a de-facto dictatorship would be installed, we don’t seem that far away from it. Given the term “low information voters” which I simply call “the stupid people” (because stupidity cannot be fixed, but it can be manipulated) and the large numbers of them who, in most cases “think” emotionally and cannot extrapolate logical sub-arguments or conclusions from a given set of premises, we are in a lot of trouble.

The national socialists are still, quite effectively co-opting the colored people, the gay people, the muslim people, NOVAW (National Organization of Very Angry Wimmin) by selling them a bill of goods that sounds great. The republicans have been painted as the enemy of fun-time. But what is sold as “fun-time” is really just the giant sucking sound of the money machine and our “leaders” are so hell-bent to create a welfare state, they themselves probably don’t even realize the end result. If they do, like Hairball Reid, they don’t care. They generally despise people anyway and avoid any interaction with work-a-day types. A means to an end, if you will.

I wonder how many mexicans Reid has working in his house….and mowing his yard.

But again, you can only take everyone’s money ONCE. When the people are on welfare and stop making/producing anything, the elites start complaining that there is no staff to do anything because “nobody wants to work”. But the fact is that the employers can’t afford to pay because all the money is controlled by the government (in the interest of “fairness, of course).

There was an old joke in Soviet Russia whereby the US reporter, enamored of the efficiency of the Russians and their totalitarian state, came across some young factory workers sitting down, doing nothing, in the middle of the day. Curious, he asked them if they were on a break or observing some custom he wasn’t familiar with. One of the workers, in broken English replied. “It’s werry seemple”, he stated, “The leaders with their suits and nice houses pretend to pay us……and vee pretend to work.”

Yet, the socialists/communists we have in our government right now are decidedly the most selfish, the most racist, the most discriminating and far more than any white work-a-day male I’ve ever met. It’s as proven a formula and bakes the same cake that has been baked for thousands of years. Yet, human greedy government types have re-invented the wheel now for the 900th time and people can’t seem to pick up on that part of the song where the record skips and plays it over and over.

I’m thinking that, for now at least, the song of freedom is over. It will flourish again but not in my lifetime. I will grow old and die in a communist nation. Hurray.

Rusty: “trying to sort out how the end of this term will come to pass.”

I’ve been thinking about that scenario myself. I thought the Final Days might look something like this:

      • the assassinations of Justices Thomas and Alito (Scalia survives his wounds)
      • the murders are blamed on Tea Party extremists
      • some kind of Waco/Ruby Ridge massacre of Tea Party people
      • Executive Order repeals Bill of Rights
      • Eric Holder and Shelia Jackson Lee appointed to fill vacancies on Supreme Court (Harry Reid’s nuclear option paying off at last)
      • a presidential mass pardon for all blacks held in Federal prisons
      • a mass amnesty for all illegal aliens
      • DHS orders release of all illegal alien felons still remaining in prisons
      • Iran (with help from US intelligence agencies and DoD) destroys Israel
      • 75 million Americans (documented and undocumented) on food stamps
      • Nerobama’s portrait on the new $25 bill
      • $20+ trillion national debt coupled with Fed announcement that interest rates will rise
      • S&P, Moody’s, et al downgrade US debt two steps
      • US dollar replaced as the world’s reserve currency
      • oil prices rise; gold over $3000 per ounce; stock markets collapse
      • California, Illinois, and New York City declare bankruptcy
      • bond market collapses
      • final retreat from Afghanistan and MidEast
      • base closings and pull out from Europe and Pacific
      • all US nuclear bombs dismantled pursuant to Executive Order
      • GITMO closed
      • Nerobama accepts his second Nobel Peace Prize amid lavish praise
      • American media and Hollywood celebs call for suspension of elections in order to allow Nerobama’s steady hand to guide the country through the present crisis
      • martial law

when Nerobama “pen and phones” The Twenty-second Amendment of the United States Constitution( sets a term limit for election to the office of President of the United States.),

Why am I not surprised in the least by this?

Does anyone recall the second pilot episode of “Star Trek”? A character acquires near-omnipotence, and begins to consider himself a god. Well, that’s similar to Obama. He gained (likely improperly) all the power and authority of the highest Executive Branch office, and now he considers himself above the law.

Just before that character on “Star Trek” got his comeuppance, he said “Morals are for men, not gods.” Obama’s attitude is similar: “Laws are for men, not messiahs.” I suspect that Obama is going to fall…and fall hard.

    I hope so, at least.

“This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but a whimper.” ~ T.S. Elliot

The same could be said for America. Because we have been dumbed down and miseducated for the last 100+ years, Obama will rule by dictates and nothing will be said. The sad thing is we won’t miss America until we wake up one day and are trotted off to a re-education camp in Utah. Our guns will be gone, our money will be gone, and any vestige of freedom gone, all without a bang. There will be no protests, no resistance, no chance in hell of ever getting back what we so glibly tossed aside in 2008 and AGAIN in 2012.

      “until we wake up …”
      evansj42 , this reminds me of…

      [oh no, here it comes,]

the progressive socialist H.G. Wells (1866–1946). 19th century The Time Machine.

“Social class was a theme in Wells’s The Time Machine in which the Time Traveller speaks of the future world, with its two races…
Wells has this very same Time Traveller speak in terms unusual for socialist thought, referring as “perfect” and with no social problem unsolved, to an imagined world of stark class division between the rich assured of their wealth and comfort, and the rest of humanity assigned to lifelong toil:
Once, life and property must have reached almost absolute safety. The rich had been assured of his wealth and comfort, the toiler assured of his life and work. No doubt in that perfect world there had been no unemployed problem, no social question left unsolved.”

      The Time Machine. 1898.
      Chapter VII.

“but there was an altogether new element in the sickening quality of the Morlocks—a something inhuman and malign. Instinctively I loathed them. Before, I had felt as a man might feel who had fallen into a pit: my concern was with the pit and how to get out of it. Now I felt like a beast in a trap, whose enemy would come upon him soon. ‘The enemy I dreaded may surprise you. It was the darkness of the new moon. Weena had put this into my head by some at first incomprehensible remarks about the Dark Nights. It was not now such a very difficult problem to guess what the coming Dark Nights might mean. The moon was on the wane: each night there was a longer interval of darkness. And I now understood to some slight degree at least the reason of the fear of the little Upper-world people for the dark. I wondered vaguely what foul villainy it might be that the Morlocks did under the new moon. I felt pretty sure now that my second hypothesis was all wrong. The Upper-world people might once have been the favoured aristocracy, and the Morlocks their mechanical servants: but that had long since passed away. The two species that had resulted from the evolution of man were sliding down towards, or had already arrived at, an altogether new relationship. The Eloi, like the Carolingian kings, had decayed to a mere beautiful futility. They still possessed the earth on sufferance: since the Morlocks, subterranean for innumerable generations, had come at last to find the daylit surface intolerable. And the Morlocks made their garments, I inferred, and maintained them in their habitual needs, perhaps through the survival of an old habit of service. They did it as a standing horse paws with his foot, or as a man enjoys killing animals in sport: because ancient and departed necessities had impressed it on the organism. But, clearly, the old order was already in part reversed.”

      From Wikipedia

By the year AD 802,701, humanity has evolved into two separate species: the Eloi and the Morlocks. The Eloi are the childlike, frail group, living a banal life of ease on the surface of the earth, while the Morlocks live underground, tending machinery and providing food, clothing and infrastructure for the Eloi. Each class evolved and degenerated from humans. The novel suggests that the separation of species may have been the result of a widening split between different social classes,
The main difference from their earlier ruler-worker state is that, while the Morlocks continue to support the world’s infrastructure and serve the Eloi, the Eloi have undergone significant physical and mental deterioration. Having solved all problems that required strength, intelligence, or virtue, they have slowly become dissolute and naive. They are described as being smaller than modern humans, having shoulder-length curly hair, chins that ran to a point, large eyes, small ears, and small mouths with bright red thin lips. They are of sub-human intelligence, though apparently intelligent enough to speak, as they have a primitive language. They do not perform much work, and in the book and 1960 film when Weena falls into the river, none of the Eloi help her.
While one initially has the impression that the Eloi people live a life of play and toil-less abundance, it is revealed that the Morlocks are attending to the Eloi’s needs for the same reason a farmer tends cattle; the Morlocks use the Eloi for food. This is why there are no old people, and why the Eloi seem to fear the dark.
Morlocks are a fictional species …They dwell underground in the English countryside of AD 802,701 in a troglodyte civilization, maintaining ancient machines that they may or may not remember how to build. Their only access to the surface world is through a series of well structures that dot the countryside of future England.
Morlocks are troglofaunal humanoid creatures, said to have descended from humans, but by the 8,028th century have evolved into a completely different species, said to be better suited to their subterranean habitat. They are described as “ape-like”, with little or no clothing, large eyes and grey fur covering their bodies. As a result of living underground they are …extremely sensitive to light.
The Morlocks’ main source of food is the Eloi, another race descended from humans that lives above ground. The Morlocks treat the Eloi as cattle, and the Eloi do not resist being captured. However, because of the Morlocks’ adaptations to darkness, the Eloi have an incredible fear of the dark and are terrified of being underground.
