Obama Uses ‘Crony Facts’ To Hit Romney Tax Cuts

From the Weekly Standard:

Obama Campaign Cites Economic Research from Donor

By DANIEL HALPER | Jul 16, 2012

Politico reports that President Obama is in Ohio today to "highlight a new report that estimates Romney’s support for eliminating U.S. taxes on American companies’ foreign incomes would create 800,000 jobs in other countries, including 73,000 jobs in China."

In fact, the Politico was right and that is exactly what Obama said at this speech yesterday.

But the new report being cited by Politico and later touted by the Obama campaign was conducted by a professor at Reed College, Kimberly Clausing, who is an Obama donor who has given exclusively to Democratic candidates over the years.

As an unnamed campaign official tells Politico, “These jobs are likely to come at the expense of American workers, in cities like Cincinnati. This new report, published in Tax Notes, concludes that the reforms Mitt Romney supports ‘would significantly increase incentives for U.S. firms to move economic activity abroad.’

Economist Kimberly Clausing writes that, under current economic conditions, ‘those new, low-tax-country jobs could displace jobs at home.’ Romney’s plan to create jobs in other countries comes after independent economists have said that his economic plans could slow the economy and reduce the number of jobs in the United States.”

Clausing, according to donor records, gave Obama for America $250 on May 18, 2012. Likewise, on September 14, 2011, Clausing gave $242 to Obama for America, records reveal.

But the real news here is not that Obama uses his own facts, even facts from a donor. He’s always done that. Which is why his speeches always seem to be coming from a denizen of a parallel universe.

The real news here is that Obama is telling us that if Romney lowers the tax rate on US companies, which is the highest in the world, that will somehow cause them to move overseas. That is simply crazy.

The three major things that cause companies to move overseas are taxes, unions and government regulations. And Obama wants to increase taxes, expand unions, and increase regulation. In fact, the Democrat Party is the party of higher taxes, bigger unions and more government regulations.

But Obama says Romney is somehow going to drive businesses overseas by doing the opposite of what drives them overseas. The mendacity of Obama and the Democrat Party is simply breathtaking.

It’s blindingly clear that the Demonicrats will do ANYTHING to get elected, using every slimy tactic the can. It’s ‘The Chicago Way’. They discovered long ago that mudslinging works because many decent people become so disgusted that they opt out, and won’t vote. And most decent people are conservatives.

We’re in a Cold Civil war, and the stakes are just as high as they were in 1864 when Lincoln was staring defeat in the eye. A Demonicrat victory then would have brought a truce with the Confederacy, and the gradual disintegration of the United States.

There seems to be disagreement on the right over how Romney should address all these claims by the Oblameless campaign. Should he release his tax returns? Should he replay the facts to prove the accusations false? Should he get on all the “talking head shows” and plod on through the truth to show that the accusations are false?

I say NO. I think Romney should just come out simple.

Reporter : Mr Romney, how do you respond to the charges made by some (some because “SOME” always say something important) that you did such and such?

Romney : I’m glad you asked that. Did I do such and such? No. Mr Obama and his team are liars. Would you like to talk about our failing economy? Or we could talk about Obama using tax money to prop up his cronies in the green energy sector. Or we could look into the unemployment rates for those that Mr Obama says he is looking out for. We can talk about Mr Obama’s fantasy that he is ultimately responsible for all the good in the world through government, and that people are worthless without him. We can talk about anything Mr. Reporter-man, but I won’t dignify Mr Obama’s lies with a response other than that they are lies. If you don’t want to talk about the issues that are important to the American people then my time would be better spent talking to someone who will. Bu-Bye.

    OK, I can dream can’t I?

One way to prevent cheaters and liars from winning is not to play the game. Mitt should remain silent and needs to change the subject when asked about Bain. Not to something relevant, but something along the lines of; “what happened to BHO friends Rezko and Blago?”

Out here I’ve not seen one single ad for Romney.

But we;re inundated with false, misleading and BS ads by Obama slamming Romney for everything but selling children into slavery.

Last night on the web-cast service CRACKLE (Roku) I counted no less than 13 ads for Obama during a 1 hr 22 min movie, 2 ads for other products, -0- for Romney.

    • River0 says:

Obummer has burned through more than $100 million on negative ads in the last month, according to Carl Rove and Dana Perrino. He can’t sustain that level for long, and his negatives will increase . Romney is conserving his money. He has to – by law – until after the convention.

    • GetBackJack says:

      We’ll see.

But every time I see an Obama ad I throw up in my mouth a little.

Thanks to O-hole’s overuse and snarky way of using the word “folks” I have now developed an allergy to said word and cannot read anything that has that word without getting a headache.
