		<description>Okay this is something I know a little something about.

Subway and light rail operators take safety very seriously. They are constantly looking for ways to prevent attacks and acts of terrorism through design, public awareness campaigns, and visible policing.  I just finished editing a symposium about rail security and I&#039;ve provided the URL below.

Oh, and security and safety are NOT the same thing. Safety refers to prevention of accidents, such as people falling off the platforms or slipping on the trains. Security is preventing people from leaving bombs and assaulting other people on the trains.

This is highly edited because there were discussions about vulnerable areas, specific machinery and techniques that needed to be removed. But this is what our public transportation systems are doing—and to have the government butt in will no doubt result in a mass [confusion]. The feds oftentimes think one size fits all, and it sure doesn&#039;t. It&#039;s a bit boring—now you see what I do for a living, when I get work.</description>
