Obama Wants To Free More Felons, Give Them The Vote

What timing. Since Trump and Steinle we are hearing daily reports about the crimes committed by criminals who have been released by the government. And, of course, now there is the ‘El Chapo’ escape. And yet Obama and Hillary want to release even more criminals upon the American public.

From an approving New York Times:

Obama Calls for Effort to Fix a ‘Broken System’ of Criminal Justice

By PETER BAKER | July 14, 2015

PHILADELPHIA — President Obama on Tuesday called for a sweeping bipartisan effort to fix what he called “a broken system” of criminal justice that has locked up too many Americans for too long, especially a whole generation of young black and Hispanic men.

Mr. Obama is going to fix our ‘broken’ criminal justice system just like he fixed our ‘broken’ immigration system. By ignoring the laws on the books.

But what timing, huh? Since Donald Trump’s remarks and Karen Steinle’s murder, we have been hearing practically hourly reports about the crimes committed by criminals who have been released by ICE or local government. And, of course, now there is the ‘El Chapo’ escape.

And yet Obama and Hillary want to release even more criminals on the American public. In the cause of social justice.

In a long and at times passionate address to a convention of the N.A.A.C.P., Mr. Obama said the mass incarceration of the past two decades had gone too far and left many communities devastated.

It has also left the country with a far lower crime rate than it had two decades ago.

He tied what he called the bias built into the system to the racially charged upheaval in places like Ferguson, Mo., and Baltimore. Among other things, he said the country should focus more resources on early childhood education to prevent young people from straying in the first place.

Yes, giving Head Start more money will solve everything. (Just look what it has done for places like Baltimore and Chicago.)

He called for a sentencing overhaul bill to be passed this year that would reduce mandatory minimum sentences “or get rid of them entirely,” favoring treatment or other alternatives for many drug offenders…

Lest we forget, it was black groups like the NAACP that demanded stiffer penalties for crack cocaine because of what crack was doing to the ‘black community.’ (You can look it up.)

He called for better conditions for prisoners, saying, “They are also Americans.”  …

And here is what he really meant by that, from the Washington Examiner:

Obama: Restore ex-cons’ voting rights

By Nicole Duran | July 14, 2015

… To shine light on some inhumane prison conditions, Obama said he is traveling to a federal prison in Oklahoma on Thursday. Inmates "are also Americans, and we have to make sure that as they do their time and pay back their debt to society that we are increasing the possibility that they can turn their lives around," he said…

Obama said society needs to help rehabilitated ex-cons to find jobs and should make it easier for them by forbidding employers from asking about prior convictions.

After all, why should an employer know whether he is hiring a hardened criminal or not? It’s not like they would be legally responsible for their employees’ actions. — No, wait. They are often held legally responsible for their employees’ actions.

Lastly, Obama called for reinstating the vote to released felons. If "folks have served their time, and they’ve reentered society, they should be able to vote," he said.

Of course ‘lastly’ is really ‘firstly’ in this case. Because getting felons the right to vote, even while they are still in prison, is really what this is all about. After all, more than 70% of all felons are registered as Democrats

Who cares how many Karen Steinles have to die? As Lenin once said, ‘you have to break some eggs to make an omelet.’
