Obama Wants To Waste $2B More On Green Fuels

From the New York Times:

Obama Seeks $2 Billion in Research on Cleaner Fuels

By JOHN M. BRODER | March 15, 2013

WASHINGTON — With few options available for financing his clean-energy ambitions, President Obama on Friday will propose diverting $2 billion in revenue from federal oil and gas leases over the next decade to pay for research on advanced vehicles, White House officials said.

In other words, Obama is going to once again redistribute income. And, as usual, he is taking income from the producers to give it to the parasites, who just happen to be Democrat donors and foot soldiers.

But, after all, those mid-terms votes aren’t going to buy themselves.

Mr. Obama will visit the Argonne National Laboratory near Chicago to tour its state-of-the-art research facilities and to promote his idea, first proposed in last month’s State of the Union address, to use oil and gas money to find ways to replace hydrocarbons as the primary fuel for the nation’s cars, trucks and buses.

The idea enjoys some bipartisan and business support, but is likely to encounter strong resistance from Congressional Republicans, who will portray it as a tax on energy producers…

Which, of course, it is.

The White House says the money will come from growth in drilling revenue from leases on public lands and waters over the next decade and is not a new tax…

Which is obviously a lie, given how this administration is blocking all new drilling on government land.

For the record, the New York Times barely mentions how much money has already been wasted on Obama’s previous ‘green’ ventures — in this 15 paragraphs, 622 word long article. Nor do they mention how much money as gone to his contributors and cronies.

This is as close as they get:

Mr. Obama came to office with grand ambitions of remaking the nation’s energy economy and tackling climate change. His stimulus package included $90 billion for clean-energy research, but most of that money is gone and Congress is unlikely to finance such work at anything like those levels in the future.

And that $90 billion was just the tip of the iceberg in what Obama has squandered on ‘green technology.’

The Argonne National Laboratory, which has done groundbreaking research in vehicle battery technology that has helped jump-start the electric car industry in America, received a large chunk of the stimulus money.

Really, the electric car industry in America has been jump-started? Who knew?

Now, it is facing reductions under the mandatory budget cuts known as the sequester. The laboratory’s director, Eric D. Isaacs, who will greet the president on Friday, warned this week that the spending cuts would have a devastating impact as “the nation begins to feel the loss of important new scientific ideas that now will not be explored, and of brilliant young scientists who now will take their talents overseas or perhaps even abandon research entirely.”

In an article in The Atlantic written with the directors of two other Department of Energy labs, Dr. Isaacs said that the sequester cuts would force all new programs and research initiatives to be canceled, probably for at least two years.

If true (and it probably isn’t), that’s good news. But why is going to take so long?

White House officials said the president hoped to use some of the added revenue from the nation’s oil and gas boom to replace basic research money lost by the mandatory budget cuts and the expiration of the stimulus funds.

It’s Bush’s the sequester’s fault!

  1. Dr. Isaacs said that the sequester cuts would force all new programs and research initiatives to be canceled, probably for at least two years. Sounds like Dr Isaacs might be counting on some post-mid-term-election kickbacks for his official “blame the sequester” stance on wasting our money… I mean research.

What is the going rate for publicly blaming the sequester for the ills of the day? A couple of hundred million dollars? If the government is so intent on wasting money on green energy “research”, give me $100 million dollars and I’ll personally pioneer the research into powering vehicles with unicorn farts and fairy dust. I can see the final report now…”Even after the exaustive search, we have been unable to actually capture a unicorn, much less trapping the elusive unicorn fart. As to the fairy dust, Barney Frank made things quite difficult for us. He refused to give us any of his dust. His wife did sell us some dope though.”

Oh, and how about 20 or 30 million to research wind powered cars. Pop a sailboard on the roof of your car and bingo bango bongo… wind powerd car. Where’s my money?

It must be pay off time again. Why else would he whip the dead horse when in fact it is dead.
Breaking it off in the taxpayers arse is all he knows.

If liberal greedy billionaires George Soros, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, nor the Donald Trump and Nancy Pelosi, Federal agencies, the Global World, company giants, entrepreneurs hoping to grab the golden ring, could not make cleaner or alternative fuels over the decades, yet alone during the last four years of Obama’s term at full power and high speed, then it’s not going to happen with extra funds.

    he’s laughing at us!
he saw he could do anything the first time and not answer for it,
    AND STILL GET REELECTED!
Four more years till the next Democrat gets in office.
we had our chance and pissed it away.
    kiss it all good bye,
    they control it all.
on April 15, when you have to mail “amount you owe”to the IRS,
just skip the middle man and sent right to the White House.

If memory serves me right, which it seldom does. I believe the original charge given to the D.O.E was to have the USA energy independent….well that has not worked out too well for us. Seems back in the 80’s there was a big push for solar powered heating systems etc. etc. Most of those programs have long since fallen into dis-repair or have been removed.
Today the big push for electic powered vehicles using Lithium based batteries, anyone thought of how you dispose of the batteries???

  6. “The trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some [wealth] redistribution — because I actually believe in redistribution …”

Insane reason given for more than 1 in 3 U.S. Counties dying according just released 2012 Census.

AP: A record number of U.S. counties are losing residents due to aging adults and weakened economies, as population shifts elsewhere in search of jobs.

    Mar 14, 2013

WASHINGTON — A record number of U.S. counties — more than 1 in 3 — are now dying off, hit by an aging population and weakened local economies that are spurring young adults to seek jobs and build families elsewhere.

The findings also reflect the increasing economic importance of foreign-born residents…

Without new immigrants, many metropolitan areas such as New York, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh and St. Louis would have posted flat or negative population growth in the last year.

“Immigrants are innovators, entrepreneurs. They’re making things happen. They create jobs,” said Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, a Republican, at an immigration conference in his state last week. Saying Michigan should be a top destination for legal immigrants to come and boost Detroit and other struggling areas, Snyder made a special appeal: “Please come here.”

Despite increasing deaths, the U.S. population as a whole continues to grow, boosted by immigration from abroad and relatively higher births among the mostly younger migrants from Mexico, Latin America and Asia.

“These counties are in a pretty steep downward spiral,” said Kenneth Johnson, a senior demographer and sociology professor at the University of New Hampshire, who researched the findings. “… Unless something dramatic changes — for instance, new development such as a meatpacking plant to attract young Hispanics — these areas are likely to have more and more natural decrease.”

A common theme is a waning local economy, such as farming, mining or industrial areas of the Rust Belt.

New York ranks tops in new immigrants among large metro areas, but also ranks at the top for young residents moving away.

In contrast, the Texas metropolitan areas of Dallas, Houston and Austin continued to be big draws for young adults, ranking first, second and fourth among large metro areas in domestic migration due to diversified economies that include oil and gas production.

The census estimates are based on local records of births and deaths, Internal Revenue Service records of people moving within the United States and census statistics on immigrants.

Blaming the dying off of Counties on the deaths of older people (45 year old baby boomers are in this “older” age brackett and not questioning Obama Care’s impact on the toll, when 80 year old people in ER’s are having to give one hour personal intakes of personal questions is a problem.

I kid you not. These Obama Care information intakes are literally being given to old people in critical condition in ICU rooms.

The article left out that the global UN Agenda 21 and EPA regulations that have top priority are to close down rural areas and force people to move into cities and increase them to the highest density. It seems to mirror China in building high rise living booting out the poor elderly forcing them to rural areas where they become more impoverished and neglected.

The US agenda is bicycles and walking. Living homes close to work places to save the earth.

“A common theme is a waning local economy, such as farming,…’

FACT: Farmers are being limited in growing food by the Agenda 21 and green agenda, because it increases bug infestations.
They want smaller crops and smaller “sized” fruits and vegetables. They want community gardens which will lead to more bug and rodent infestation in these high density communities.

New study on Obama’s plans for high density living and getting rid of oil.

    CNS News – Government Steering Americans Toward a Tele-Work, Tele-Shop, Mass-Transit Future
    March 15, 2013 – By Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) – The Obama administration envisions a “low-carbon, low-petroleum” future where Americans tele-work, tele-shop, walk, bike and use carpools or mass transit if they must leave the neighborhood at all.

The study — titled Transportation Energy Futures — offers “an inclusive approach,” including increased fuel economy for all types of vehicles; reduced use of transportation by car; and the expanded use of low-carbon fuels, such as biofuels, electricity, and hydrogen.

Higher densities (more people living in the same area in smaller homes), a mix of uses (shopping and other services) and walkable neighborhoods contribute to lower vehicle travel and energy use, the report says.

And to encourage “effective land use,” the report calls for expanded federal efforts to influence development through funding decisions.

The report spells out specific “federal policy options” to encourage smart growth and discourage driving, as follows:…
