Obama Warns Disabled Vets About Sequester Cuts

From Fox News:

Obama warns disabled veterans prolonged sequester could put their benefits in jeopardy

August 10, 2013

President Obama took his case for ending the sequester to hundreds of disabled veterans Saturday, saying he protected their benefits from the “reckless” cuts to the federal budget but suggesting next year might be different.

“It’s hurting our military. I made it clear that your veteran’s benefits are exempt from this year’s sequester,” the president said to the applause of hundreds at the Disabled American Veterans’ convention in Orlando, Fla. “But I want to tell you going forward the best way to protect the VA care you have earned is to get rid of this sequester altogether.”

And yet, according to The Hill, in the very same speech Obama said: "Don’t let them fool you. No one is taking away your benefits. Your veterans’ healthcare is safe. We’re not reducing veterans’ access to healthcare, we’re expanding it. That’s the truth."

Needless to say, that isn’t the truth. Obama is gutting the military’s Tri-Care healthcare plan and much else.

The president but the blame squarely on Congress, which returns in about four weeks to work on a new federal budget and increasing the federal debt limit.

“We’ve got these reckless, across-the-board budget cuts called the sequester that are hitting a lot of folks hard,” Obama said. “Congress needs to come together and agree on a responsible plan that reduces our deficit and keeps our promises to our veterans and keeps our promises to future generations.” …

Just like he did last week, when he told the Marines at Camp Pendleton the sequester cuts were hurting the military. As if the sequester wasn’t his idea. And as if he hasn’t been trying to slash the Pentagon’s budget by more than a trillion dollars ever since he first ran for the Presidency.

The president also told the veterans the government is making progress in reducing the backlog of disability claims but acknowledged the slow pace…

The number of claims waiting to be processed ballooned under Obama..

That is putting it mildly. According to CNN and the Center for Investigative Reporting, since Obama took office in 2009, the number of veterans waiting more than a year for their benefits jumped from 11,000 in 2009 to 245,000 last December. The US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) says the average wait time after a veteran files a claim is 273 days. But for veterans filing their first claim, including Iraq and Afghanistan vets, the wait is up to 327 days, nearly two months longer.

But none of this is Obama’s fault, either. And never mind that Obama wants to do for us with Obama-Care what he has done for the VA.

strange. someone needs to tell the military that the sequester is still ongoing. I was just in the commissary and BX on Fairchild AFB and there are signs at all the registers explaining that the sequester issues were resolved and that goods and services are being fully restored as well as backorders for military supplies being fulfilled. I now wish I had snapped a pic of those signs.

My DAV magazine the 2008 election gave Obama the front page photo on their debate. Maybe they thought he understood one’s pain. Once he was elected they complained and complained
and sited names of REPUBLICANS fighting for Disability benefits.

The 2012 election they asked the same questions to Obama and Romney. Questions like what will you about the growing backlog and slowing of medical treatment and all the problems.

Obama’s answers were long and drawn out praising himself and ignoring the questions.

Romney’s were short and to the point and proposed they be allowed and paid to go to civilian doctors to get help right away.

Also, the sequester Obama cutting of education for present military enlistments in spite of the contract terms in which they enlisted, a Bill Clinton type move of cutting 20+ lifer’s benefits , was challenged by REPUBLICANS so that it would only affect new enlistees.

Yet, those slimy recruiters are lying to our teenagers enlisting showing them the outdated promises and I know two fine young Christian men just out of high-school that enlisted expecting to be able to take college courses. They do it on their own time, but the Military provides the computers and classes, because the practical idea is to gain intelligence.

So, why did “John Kerry” not raise hell, after his comment that men were just enlisting to get educations that hurt the feelings and demoralized our soldiers who were in Iraq.

It’s sad when a young man comes back home from Iraq that joined after 9/11 and tell you how it affected them.

So, let me make this clear. It has been the Republicans that have done all the fighting for our military.

First thing Obama tried to do elected as president was force them to get their own insurance and Republican Senator James Inhofe who exposed the global warming fraud said “It would be a cold day in hell” before Obama succeeded at this.

It’s FOX news that’s doing a fund raiser for wheel chairs that go over terrain, Lt Dan is doing a show.

The Democrats are too busy exposing themselves and having orgies.
