Obama ‘Warns’ Morsi To Rein In (MB’s) Hamas

From The Hill:

Obama warns Egyptian President Morsi to rein in terrorists in Gaza

By Julian Pecquet | November 19, 2012

President Obama on Monday warned Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi that he must get the violence in Gaza under control.

Frustration in the U.S. over rocket attacks on Israel from Hamas militants is increasingly centered on Egypt, and is expected to raise pointed questions from lawmakers next week about the $2 billion in annual American aid to that country.

Note the assumption that Mr. Morsi has direct control over Hamas. Of course it is a perfectly safe assumption, given that Hamas is an off-shoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. In fact, the Congressional Research Service said in 1993: "Hamas had its beginnings in 1967 as a wing of the Muslim Brotherhood."

Still, it’s odd to hear anyone in the mainstream media almost admit it.

Egypt’s post-Arab Spring government is dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood, an ideological ally of Hamas, which rules in Gaza and is considered a terrorist group by the U.S.

‘Ideological allies’ don’t tell each other what to do. In fact, the Muslim Brotherhood runs Hamas. And Obama has given them Egypt and several other countries in the Middle East. So now they are doing what they have always wanted to do.

This isn’t complicated. Obama’s ‘Arab Spring chickens’ are coming home to roost.

Israeli security officials argue the rockets hitting the nation’s cities were trucked through Egypt and smuggled through border tunnels into Gaza…

This being the border crossing that the Left always demands should be wide open.

Obama took time off his historic trip to Asia on Monday to talk to Morsi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

How big of him. (By the way, does Obama ever do anything that isn’t "historic"?)

While a White House reading of Monday’s call said Obama and Morsi “discussed ways to de-escalate the situation in Gaza,” Jonathan Schanzer, a Middle East expert at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said he’d been told an earlier call Friday between the two leaders had been “very tense.”

Note that this so-called ‘warning’ from Obama seems to be based on the imagination of The Hill. They don’t say anything to substantiate that Obama warned Morsi at all. In fact, it was probably the other way around.

In fact, Morsi is probably steamed that Nakoula Nakoula only got a year in solitary confinement for his ant-Muslim video.

While its new leaders’ sympathies lie with the Palestinians — Morsi recalled his ambassador to Israel last week and condemned Israel’s “wanton aggression” — the government knows it’s dependent on U.S. and international aid…

Meanwhile, Obama and Mrs. Clinton are trying to push through another $450 million dollars in aid for Egypt. Because they are such good friends to the US.

Israeli security officials say the latest round of violence was launched after Gaza militants acquired about 100 advanced Iranian Fajr-5 rockets they say traveled through Egypt.

And note that they came from Iran.

Most of the stockpile is believed to have been destroyed by Israeli airstrikes, but the violence has continued as Islamists in Gaza continue firing shorter-range rockets and Israel shifts its response to targeting militants’ homes, causing a surge in civilian deaths in the densely populated strip…

Which is what Hama wants, of course. Knowing that Reuters and the rest of the Western news media will feign outrage.

Already, Obama critics are sensing in the latest flare-up another occasion to hit the president for what they see as his failure to influence last year’s Arab Spring rebellions in a direction more favorable to U.S. interests.

“Can’t Obama stop his friends in Egypt shelling Israel?” News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch asked on Twitter…

That is a good question. But no one outside of Fox News will dare ask it.

All Obama’s warnings to other countries are laughable.

Obama’s warnings to the US should be taken seriously.
