Obama Will Impose Drilling Ban Anyway

From a joyous Associated Press:

Salazar seeks to reimpose drilling moratorium

June 23, 2010

WASHINGTON — Interior Secretary Ken Salazar says he will issue a new order imposing a moratorium on deepwater drilling after a federal judge struck down the existing one.

Salazar said in a statement Tuesday evening that the new order will contain additional information making clear why the six-month drilling pause was necessary in the wake of the Gulf oil spill. The judge in New Orleans who struck down the moratorium earlier in the day complained there wasn’t enough justification for it.

Salazar pointed to indications of inadequate safety precautions by industry on deepwater wells. He said he would issue a new order in the coming days showing that a moratorium is needed.

The White House also is appealing the judge’s ruling.

All of which begs the question: how can the Obama administration legally issue a new drilling ban while they appealing a court decision on their previous ban?

Don’t we have any laws left in this country?

Mr. Obama really is the ‘man who would be king.’

Who allowed the Executive branch to have such dictatorial powers? Democrats and Republicans.

Who allowed our judges, prosecutors, and courts to be a dictatorial system that rules us with an iron fist? Democrats and Republicans.

Who gave us our national debt? Democrats and Republicans.

Who allowed our voting system to be so corrupt and 19th centuryesque? Democrats and Republicans.

Who is in charge of this corruption, and who let it all happen? Democrats and Republicans.

Things are the way they are, because they WANT it that way.

Gee Mithrandir – that’s just so profound! What’s your solution? Allowing a George Soros manchurian president handpuppet to destroy America brick by brick creating another African dictatorship and to hell with the laws and the Constitution?

Your comments are a series of non sequitors that could only make sense to a Dem such as yourself.

America was the single most powerful, wealthy and benevolent country the world has ever known.

The United Kingdom and Great Britain was the single most powerful, wealthy and benevolent Empire the world has ever known.

Those are facts and backed up by hundreds of years of historical proof. No single country or conglomerate of nations has ever come close – and yes, the terms Democrats, Republicans, Liberals, Conservatives, Whigs and Tories are interchangeable; and all go back to our roots in England.

Who allowed the Executive branch to have such dictatorial powers? Democrats. ….Republicans abide by the rule of law.

Who allowed our judges, prosecutors, and courts to be a dictatorial system that rules us with an iron fist? Democrats. …… Republicans don’t ‘read into’ legal documents non-existent findings and judgements.

Who gave us our national debt? Democrats. …… Tax and spend is what they do best – other than corruption which is what they truly excel at! Republicans want to keep spending to a minimum.

Who allowed our voting system to be so corrupt and 19th centuryesque? ……non sequitor. It is a good and modern invention. It allows for the will of the people more than the ‘first past the post’ form of voting countries like Canada has.

Voter fraud is what the Dems do best: do a little historical research and refresh yourself of what ACORN is all about. Hint: They’re Dems too.

Who is in charge of this corruption, and who let it all happen? Democrats. …… Republicans want to clean things up – that’s one of the many planks of the Tea Party movement as well as what the Republicans stand for. Only a Dem could love chaos and corruption.

Things are the way they are, because they WANT it that way. No – not at all. It’s what the Dems want: bribery, corruption, voter fraud, kickbacks, deals, pay and play.

What is your background? Indian? Pakistani? Moose limb? Cuz it seems you just don’t know what you’re talking about… and offer no proof to back up your allegations. Please provide justifications to each of your assertions… if you can.

      Great post, hushpuppy.

Mith is generally ok. He’s a young guy already in abject dispair and on the hard libertarian side of conservatism. We will see a lot more like him in the next few years. Like a lot of desperate libertatians, he squares the circle to liberal positions on some issues. He’ll learn soon enough that those waters are infested with sharks who will take more of his money faster than even the run-of-the-mill criminals.

Your points are all vaid, and very well stated, but you are being a bit harsh on the lad.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

      I concur,

Mith is as frustrated as the rest of us. Often he strikes a good point and brings out a different perspective on things. It’s all good.

What Mith has struck upon though, is that thing about “Well, who CAN we trust?”. Because going to the polls, a citizen is placing their trust, in the form of a vote, in someone who they think will at least represent them fairly.

And he’s watched as democrats and RINO’s have been dismantling our form of government over several years and is getting discouraged. Same for me. The entity known as politics has a filthy underbelly and we’d all like to think that our form of government does all things above-board. But no. Much of it is under-the-table and both parties are guilty of it. I don’t like it at all. However, given that, how do we fix it?

Well, supposedly there are laws that are supposed to hold people accountable. But, who are the ones to do that? It would appear that currently, “Nobody don’t know nuttin’ “. Everyone has the look of innocence on their faces. Just like the moment when a guy on the gridiron commits a very heinous foul right in front of the ref, and the ref saw it but didn’t blow the whistle.

We are trying to play a rigged game and as the days go by, the refs are more and more complicit in the fix. Nobody apparently is accountable unless you are against the democratic party at this particular moment in time.

But, let me point out an interesting difference. Right now, this administration is acting in the manner that they perceive the republicans to have acted. What they fail to understand is that the republicans didn’t usurp constitutional law, contract law, etc. But the democrats only saw the end results. Thus, the source of their anger.

Now, with the democrats in power, they are, in fact, usurping law, flagrantly, and they think that’s ok because the way they see it, “That’s what the republicans did”. When nothing could be further from the truth. But they think they are justified.

Then, the drooling masses who don’t understand anything, see things like BP being “held accountable” without knowing that the federal government has just toppled the whole judicial system. But if you try to explain it to them, they cannot even get it when you use their own life as an example. “How would you like it if you had a car wreck and it wasn’t your fault, but the policeman came and demanded you cough up $50,000 because ‘he’ll make it very ugly for you if you don’t’ “. And they cannot understand the parallel.

I blame the schools for that. The teachers, the whole &#@! system that does not encourage the mental exercise of decision-making; That decisions have consequences.

And the part where I get discouraged is where I ponder the notion that if we started today with a fresh slate, it would take two full generations to get back where we were just after WWII. Where people put in an honest day’s work for a day’s pay; Where individuals were held responsible for their actions.

No, I don’t want to go back to 1940’s technology…that’s not what I’m saying. But the mindset…

The whole thing went off the tracks in 1963 or a little earlier and never came back. Everybody was “hip” and “cool”. And a whole subculture worked at subverting that which worked because, for some reason, they didn’t like it.

Now they run the government. And, by definition, they think they run us. But they are wrong.

I will not be governed by hippies. Period.

    • proreason says:

It’s all part of the plan Rusty.

For 230 years we have had a civilian government with very few professional politicians. 50% or more of Presidents were just people who decided to serve…including the three great presidents….Washington, Lincoln, Reagan. Government was largely decentralized and the states were able to operate independently of the federal forces.

So, by long tradition, this country is simply not prepared to deal with a large army of professional sabateurs. And that’s what they are: the Alinskyites, the Barney Franks and Pelosis, the “community activists” whose real function is to undermine governments big and small, the racial agitators, the union thugs, and even now the more-or-less-normal politicians, who have been sucked in by the allure of incredible wealth and power and are either too stupid to recognize what is really happening or happy just to grab theirs’ while the grabbing is good.

As we’ve discussed many times, they subverted the education system; they captured the media; they now dominate the popular culture; they own the unions lock stock and barrel; they created the Civil Rights movement; they have trashed traditional values; they sneer at families and churches to weaken the bonds that tie our culture together; they subverted the Constituion with activist judges; and they are now on the brink of obviating the states and local governments.

They are a militant, full-time, trained and armed group of mercenaries bent on looting this country.

But it’s still not hopeless. I’m no Douglas, throwing in the towel and wimpering for more crumbs from the fascist wannabe dictators.

It is darkest before the dawn. It’s not just a cliche that the most significant changes in history occured when the things looked bleak. Despite an education system that is worse than useless, the internet cannot be controlled (but they sure do want to control that too). The widely denigrated Tea Partiers understand the threat and are mobilizing. Leaders who believe in this country are emerging

We will win in November, for certain…..but in victory also lies the biggest threat that I see. If the passion dies because of just one victorious step, the country will die. Because the professional, dedicated, determined army of power-mad subversives are engorged with lust for money and power. They will never stop until they are eliminated.

I pray that it’s true. But, given this reality of millions of go’vt employees who are “here to help us.” How do we eliminate them along with the power-mad subversives? While we can defund or eliminate whole departments, the power-mad subversives are like cockroaches and will hide until they feel it’s safe to come back out.

A guy with a pair like Chris Christie would disband several dapartments that are the equivalent of an appendix on a human, i.e., totally useless. Education, HHS, Energy and Transportation come readily to mind, but I’m sure there are many others. On second thought, they aren’t just useless, they are cancerous, so the appendix isn’t a good analogy.

Another way is to freeze salaries. After about 15 years, when the useless bureaurcrats are making the equivalent of civilian salaries, perhaps they will just go away.

In any event, one thing that MUST happen is to cut off their gold-plated pensions. That is inevitable at some level, Federal or State.

btw, saying the departments are useless isn’t the same as condemning all the people that work in the departments. I don’t have anything against the IT guys, the facilies people and anybody whose just trying to make a living. It’s the managers and exectives that are the problem….particularly the political appointees.

    • Flession says:

I do feel that the blame game that Mith was doing is simply too narrow-minded. Although, yes, there are some Republicans that haven’t exactly helped the cause of freedom, more often than not, they’re the ones who fight the hardest and the strongest when the chips are down, if they can be rallied and motivated (i.e. 4 years of that usless Carter got us 8 years of Regan)

Sometimes they just need a kick in the butt to remind them of the dangers of really working too close to the looney Leftists.

Also, excellent points, Pro. Although, if I may add to your analogy: Although a useless organ, a appendix can eventually infect the rest of the body, leaving the host sick, ill, and hindered.

If not removed when this sickness is noticed, it can get worse, and worse, and will eventually become cancerous, and in even some cases, the infected appendix can cause death.

So don’t knock the useless organ statement :D

Indonesia has an army of 4500 armed troops set aside to protect Obama. But, Obama won’t send half that many troops to protect AZ?
