Obama Worries About Concussions, Gay Scouts

From The Hill:

Obama glad NFL starting to take player concussions, safety issues ‘seriously’

By Keith Laing | February 2, 2013

President Obama on Sunday said he was glad the NFL was beginning to take the issue of concussions "seriously," even as he cautioned that the game would need to change to protect players.

“I understand that [NFL] Commissioner [Roger] Goodell has authorized $30 million to the National Institute of Health (NIH) to help study issues of how we can prevent concussions,” Obama said during a pre-Super Bowl interview on CBS. “But these are serious issues, especially for younger kids, as well as college players who don’t make a big salary. We want to make sure that we’re doing everything we can to keep them safe.”

Obama warned football fans that their “game is probably going to have to evolve” to better address safety issues.

"Evolve"? Was he talking about football at this point, or had he already moved on to how the Boy Scouts need to admit gays?

“For those us of that like to see a big hit, and enjoy the some of the rock ‘em, sock ‘em elements of the game, we’re probably going to be occasionally frustrated,” Obama said…

Oh, yeah. Obama loves rock ’em sock ’em football.

The comments followed Obama saying in a recent interview with the New Republic that he would be hesitant to allow a son to play football…

Just as he would probably hesitate to allow his son to join the Boy Scouts, unless they admit gays. (See below.)

Obama said he was excited about the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers.

“It’s going to be a great game, I’ve got some wings waiting for me upstairs,” he said.

Obama was so excited he ‘tweeted’ a photo of himself hold a football. (Which he does almost as convincingly as he shoots a shotgun.)

The president and first lady will be hosting a private party, joined by friends and family, according to a White House pool report

How can they have a party with all that guilt of watching players killing themselves for their entertainment?

Meanwhile, here is another topic from the same interview, via Reuters:

Obama encourages Boy Scouts of America to end ban on gays

By Jeff Mason | February 3, 2013

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama on Sunday encouraged the Boy Scouts of America to end its ban on gay members and leaders, days before the group is expected to vote on the controversial and long-standing rule.

In an interview with CBS, anchor Scott Pelley asked the president if he believed scouting should be open to gays. "Yes," Obama said simply.

Asked to elaborate, Obama – who last year gave his backing to the right of same sex couples to marry – said gays and lesbians should be able to participate in "every institution" that others can."

My attitude is … that gays and lesbians should have access and opportunity the same way everybody else does, in every institution and walk of life," he said.

Just like the way males can attend all girls schools.

"The Scouts are a great institution that are promoting young people and exposing them to, you know, opportunities and leadership that will serve people for the rest of their lives, and I think that nobody should be barred (from) that." …

Apparently, Obama would rather see his son join the gay friendly Boy Scouts than play football.

There are 2 ways to stop concussions in football. The first involves figuring out a way to cusion the inside of the player’s skulls so their brains don’t slosh around inside. The second is to completely take hitting out of the game. It’s all just another optic, spun up from nothing to make us believe that Obaba “cares” about the things that we (the unwashed and uneducated masses) care about.

And frankly, if I were making $15 million a season, I’d take the risk of concussion as part of the reason I’m being paid enough to qualify me for 1%er status even though I had a hard time speaking in complete sentences before a single concussion. If you don’t want to risk the concussion, get a regular job.

I also have a hard time believing that players don’t understand that there is a danger of brain damage when you’re bashing your head into a 325lb player coming at you at full stride. If the instinct for self-preservation is intentionally disregarded for cash and fame, you get what you get. Suck it up.

I’m just SO grateful we have a president who is on TV every day, criticizing and telling us his vision for the future; involving himself in every detail of our lives, and empowering the federal government to monitor and regulate everything we do.

Now all we have to do is dispose of those crinkly old parchments, the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence. They’re such an impediment.

Football players are soft and they’re being encouraged to be soft. I’ve watched rugby players for years. They tape their ears to their heads with electrical tape so their ears don’t get ripped off, then they put on a shirt with a bit of padding in it (equivalent to a few cotton balls sewn into a few patches on the jersey) and they go play. If they start bleeding, they have to leave the field until they stop bleeding. I’ve never seen golf carts used to carry players off the field. If somebody is unconscious, two guys run out with a litter and carry him off. Rugby players don’t whine about any of it, they accept that they are playing a rough game and agree to the associated risks. They’ve also figured out how to play an extremely physical game without helmets, hip pads, shoulder pads, horse-collar braces, thigh pads, chest protectors, tailbone pads, protective visors, face masks, etc. Maybe the NFL needs less pads not more.

Frankly, if a grown man is being paid to play a childs’ game, he should consider himself lucky (especially for what these guys are paid) and shut his pie hole. Otherwise, get a real degree while in school and go find some work that isn’t inherently physical.

Gay leaders in Boy Scouts is as Dangerous as a child growing up with access to illegal drugs.

The Boy Scouts problems of screening out pedophiles will be now be enormously difficult.

There will be far more accusations by children of being molested.

More pedophiles will volunteer to become leaders and pretend they are straight.

Many gay boy scout leaders may turn into pedophiles learning at late ages they were “born that way”, but did not know it until they were caught in the temptation of being surrounded by so many little males beyond their dreams.

A bath house will have a new meaning in the cub scout world.
pedophiles when a child iIt will be difficult to separate

Openly Gay boy scout leaders will be able to tell their sexual preference and in defense of that preference and wanting more young men to grow up and be gay giving them more choices of a mate will occur.

Gay Boy Scout leaders may find them attracted to the older Boy Scouts with ambitions to be Eagle Scouts doing their best to restrain themselves until that Scout turns 18. “Oh, he’s so hot. And looks like he could be 18.”

No doubt Gay Boy Scout Leaders will make life long careers at volunteering to be leaders just to get a young mate. Men love younger hotties.

Then there are the young Boy Scouts who find themselves looking up to older male role models, in confusion asking themselves… “Do I admire Mr. John, because he is a manly Scouter or could it be I’m gay?” they will find themselves asking in confusion.

Climbing cliffs, swimming, and getting those badges will be so much fun. Playing doctors and getting that first aid badge will be fun.

When it comes to minors being the soul purpose of this club, and not the military where everyone is an adult, they should have drawn the line with don’t ask, don’t tell with the adult leaders.

I predict there will be less parents wanting their boys to become boy scouts, and more confused boys these days being told to discover what sex they prefer along the way will join and when it comes to lawsuits, there will be no such thing as molestation, because there will be nothing considered inappropriate.

The factor of many children just don’t tell, will grow to many more young scouts just not telling. After all, they could be ridiculed or beat up if they told someone that Harvey asked to see his privates.

God Help our Children who depend on adults to protect them and allow them a safe childhood.
    This is a disaster.

Let the gay men make their own gay boy scouts. That is equality enough.
