Those troops were ordered to be there…you can tell by the oh-so-enthusiastic looks on their faces (well, some of the females may have wanted to be there, but that’s debatable).
I swear, Obama looks to be as popular with the enlisted folks as Clinton was. It was some of the more butt-kisser oriented commissioned types who played up to Clinton…and they will to Obama, too.

I count 33 soldiers whose faces can be seen. Six whites and possibly, 3 Hispanics. So 2/3rds of the troops are black. Where is the Obama campaign to direct these soldiers and say “we need some more white soldiers up here”?

The expressions of welcome and intense enjoyment are probably related to the troops hearing of his plans to create a civilian corps (Can anyone say “Brown Shirts”?) to rival our military. This action will give him the excuse to confiscate our guns for the use of the “militia”, don’t you know.

That’s one of the funniest comments I’ve seen.
The military is never going to be inspired by surrender in Iraq. Obama has hope for everything, but when it comes to Iraq there is only despair. Think how hard our soldiers have worked to turn things around and he wants to throw it all away.

Gateway Pundit has a better photo. In it, I counted 47 military and three men that could be civilians as they were wearing civies. One Hispanic and two white guys, one with tatoos covering his entire lower arm. My guess is that they could have been civilian contractors.
I did a little research and learned that Camp Arifjan in Kuwait where the photo was taken has a garrison of just under 9,000. So to pull a minor 10% of the military there, Obama would have had to have the 50 standing behind himand 850 standing in front of him. Somehow I don’t think that happened. The rest of the photos I have found show him talking to soldiers in a “every man’s president” fashion and all but one are black. One is Hispanic.
Military are not required to attend these “Look at me” PR tours of the political. It is their choice and it would seem most chose to stay away. What do they talk to him about? How he has backed funding for them? How he has been behind their mission all along?
We have the most educated military in our history. They have access to not only the internet but satellite radio and TV. If Obama thinks he can pull the wool over the eyes of our soldiers, he is sadly mistaken.
I read that he has already agreed to an interview while on this “Look At Me” tour with one of the big three alphabet networks. You can expect to be told what a rousing success this tour is. How the military loved him. How he relates to them. Yada, yada, yada. And it will be more b/s that you can find in a west Texas feed lot.
One other small detail: all the shots I have seen are closeups. Since the adoring, knee pad wearing media is tailing along you would think we would see some long shots of the future Commander’s (in Obama’s mind) to his adoring troops.
Any installation that holds 9,000 troops has a large mess hall. Tables and chairs can be folded up and loaded on racks that hold perhaps 50 chairs or 20 tables that are on wheels to be rolled out of the way. You can find them in any high school that has a multi task room some call a cafitorium. So it would have been easy enough to clear the mess hall for an hour or so.
I am not saying there will not be any long shots. I am sure that if more than 100 soldiers attended the “I support the troops but don’t support funding them” speech there will be. I just find it odd that none have surfaced.

Technically your statement is true. However, I can guarantee that if no one willingly attended Obamapalooza there would have been arms twisted to ensure a successful photo op for the Anointed One. I personally witnessed it myself while I was in the Navy

Remember that photo from a few years back - a soldier got in trouble for displaying the coercion hand sign while at a photo op with I believe it was Hillary?
Meanwhile the troops universally look as if they’re thinking “I can’t believe this idiot may be our next Commander In Chief.”

now turn to heavily guarded McCain when he was imn Iraq and convinced all was well and peacful–and had a zillion armed soldiers protecting him. Hero or fake guy? Liar or wise man?

perhaps Obama doesn’t have so many military surrounding, and protecting him, for two reasons:
a) he is not in a hot zone in Kuwait and
b) soldiers were willing to face courtsmartial rather than take that duty.
And let’s not forget the burden the dimwitted alphabet networks are placing on our military when they don their kneepads and follow Obama to Iraq. Someone has to protect dimwitted Charlie Gibson, Perky Katie and the other clown and that responsibility falls on our military who have better things to do than provide Obama and his faithful with security.
