Obama Church Published ‘Ethnic Bomb’ Claim
Mr. Obama’s church published this open letter to Oprah Winfrey (who was at one time a member of the congregation) in the June 10, 2007 edition of their bulletin (pdf file):
Open Letter to Oprah
Dear Oprah,
I am so glad that you will be visiting my country, Palestine. I wish if I could be there to greet you. Certainly, despite the genocide and ethnic cleansing they face every hour of the day, my people will be there. They will be happy to see you and will receive you with open arms.
Unfortunately, I cannot be there! My family tree and my roots in Palestine go back to time immemorial, long before Islam, Christianity and Judaism came into being. Last July, I was given entry to my homeland only as a tourist, with an American passport and a Japanese camera. Though I am 70 years old, I had to stand at the Israeli immigration window at Sheikh Hussein entry point on the Jordan River for over seven hours before I was allowed in to visit my home and family. Months earlier, Canadian Jews were processed and given Israeli citizenship to my land while they were 35,000 feet high over the Atlantic.
Arabs, throughout history, are known to be hospitable to their guests. You will be no exception. For many centuries, Jews escaped the discrimination and death they were subjected to in Europe, and found safety and refuge among us. Muslims believe in Christianity and Judaism. The Quran states there is no distinction between Muhammad, Jesus and Moses. Therefore, according to our Islamic teachings, all are prophets of God and all must be honored and respected.
You must know that Zionist Jews from all over the world, particularly Europe, came to my Palestine, not as guests, but as settlers and occupiers in the early part of the 20th century. The natives were referred to as “snakes” from which the land must be cleansed. In 1948 they occupied 72% of my land and emptied out over 500 Arab (Christian and Muslim) towns and villages. In 1967 they occupied the remaining 28%. Six million of us have been living in refugee camps in Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon for the last fifty nine years, even though the United Nations ordered the Israeli government to allow us to return (1948 UN resolution 194).
Our Palestine is so beautiful. You will enjoy it. It is a museum. So many civilizations have mixed and melted there. Throughout history, invaders came and finally left. We remained. We survived. As we offered the Crusaders who occupied our holy lands for two hundred years, Jews can stay and share our land, if they wish to live in a free and democratic Palestine that respects the rights of all, regardless of their religion, race, or ethnicity. Those who refuse and insist to live in an apartheid state will inevitably pack up and return to their native lands.
Please, visit Jaffa, Haifa, Acre, and Nazareth within the so-called Green Line. Take pleasure in the aroma of our orange orchards on the Mediterranean coast. Drive to the top of the Mount of al-Carmel and enjoy its beauty and the splendid view.
Elie Wiesel, your host, will take you to the Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem to show you the crimes committed by the Germans against the Jews. Undoubtedly, when the visit is completed, he will attempt to usher you away; but if you look down across the valley you can see the site of the massacre of the village of Deir Yassin. Hundreds of armless and helpless Arab men, women, and children were shot to death, by the Irgun, Wiesel’s associates and friends, in April 1948. The remaining women survivals were paraded in trucks through the streets of Jerusalem. I can never forget this scene, just can’t. My family, among the thousands of Palestinians, had to flee. “NEVER AGAIN” are two hollow words. They don’t apply to non-Jews.
Oprah, I beg you not to forget visiting Gaza and the West Bank where over three million of us still live. All attempts made to force them leave and run for their lives have failed. Take pictures of the 700 kilometer apartheid wall and reflect on the political messages of the graffiti it displays. I was struck by one of these messages at the entry to Bethlehem. “Thou not steal.” Confiscation of our lands, however, continues until this day.
Experience some of the military check points where our people have to stand in line for hours before they are allowed to cross. Witness the harassment and degradation my people are subjected to. A 20 minute journey from a village to another takes 7 hours. Many pregnant Arab women have lost their babies while waiting for clearance on their way to hospitals. There are over 550 of these checkpoints that divide our land into ghettos in the West Bank alone. Though the water we get does not meet our basic needs, notice the swimming pools Israelis enjoy in settlements built on our stolen lands.
Of course, the highlight of your trip will be the performance of pilgrimage in Jerusalem, the city of Jesus. It is also the city of my birth. The school I attended is the site of the palace where he received his death sentence. My home is only a couple of blocks away from the Via Dolorosa, the path he took to his crucifixion. Walk through the narrow and curved alleys where he walked. I did that without interruption for 23 years. Those days are gone.
Oprah, stand on top of the Mount of Olives, as I often did, and experience the glory and majesty of Jerusalem, its al-Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock, the Holy Sepulcher, and other houses of worship. Observe the magnificence of the ancient wall built by Muslims to defend and protect these priceless treasures. Hear al-azan, the Muslim call for prayer, as it joins in unison with bells coming from Christian churches. What an eternal symphony!
Please proceed to the village of Bethany, three miles to the east. Go down the steps of the cave that leads to the tomb of Lazarus, whom Jesus raised from the dead. The small dark room on top of the cave was the shelter my mother, my three younger sisters, and I took after we escaped the carpet bombing of the old city of Jerusalem in 1948. My Muslim cousin is the custodian of the holy cave, a great honor that his family inherited from a generation to a generation. His father, an illiterate, was able to recite to Christian worshipers the story of Lazarus, in English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Greek, and other foreign languages.
Don’t miss the opportunity to drive five miles south to Bethlehem. Feel the ecstasy of entering the most dramatic cave in which the Virgin Mary delivered her beautiful Palestinian baby. During the Second Intifadah, the uprising against Israeli occupation, Muslim and Christian activists, chased by the Israeli death squads, were given refuge in the church.
You may go and see the Jordan River where Jesus was baptized, only a thirty minute drive. Beware; don’t plunge into the dirty and polluted waters. The river is almost dry. Its waters were diverted by the Israelis. Five miles west, near Jericho, you will pass by the Mount of Temptation where Jesus fasted for forty days. I can no longer walk up the steep mountain and pay respect to the Greek monks who chose to dedicate their lives to their Lord at their ancient and lonely monastery at the summit.
I do know that Mr. Mandela, who is probably the most respected man on Earth today, is your friend and hero. He is also mine. I met him in Chicago; and I had the honor of visiting him at his home in South Africa, years back. You are also a friend and a great admirer of Cape Town Archbishop Tutu, a Nobel Peace Prize dignitary, a man who has stood against injustice and racism almost his entire life. Both men describe Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians, the natives of the land, as worse than apartheid. Recently, Israel prevented Bishop Tutu from coming to Gaza to investigate and report Israel’s war crimes to the United Nations.
I must tell you that Israel was the closest ally to the White Supremacists of South Africa. In fact, South Africa allowed Israel to test its nuclear weapons in the ocean off South Africa. The Israelis were given a blank check: they could test whenever they desired and did not even have to ask permission. Both worked on an ethnic bomb that kills Blacks and Arabs.
Arabs have always supported the dismantling of this racist government. In 1962, African-Arab Sudan granted Mandela a passport to travel with to gain international support in his struggle to free his people. Libya, among other Arab states, provided Mandela and other African liberation movements, political as well as material support. As a result, Libya was designated by the White House as a terrorist rogue state. What a great honor!
A few days ago, Amnesty International’s annual report was released. The report slams Israel’s conduct in the occupied territories. It documents some of the “serious human rights abuses” Israel commits daily. It also spoke of the “war crimes” that Israel had committed in Lebanon.
Arnold Toynbee, the world renowned historian, stated that what the Zionist Jews did to the Palestinians is worse than what the Nazis did to the Jews, because, as he stated, Jews should have learned from their tragic experience.
Dear Oprah, I do understand the enormous pressure you are subjected to. But I am encouraged by your speech to Howard University graduates. “My integrity is not for sale.… Do not be a slave to any form of selling out”, you remarked.
When you return, may God of the Universe grant you the courage to tell the world of what you actually witnessed. Judging from the terrible attacks and insults former President Jimmy Carter has recently experienced for his book, Palestine Peace Not Apartheid, I do not claim that the task is easy. However, it would be an unforgivable crime for those who have suffered from slavery and are still suffering from discrimination, to ignore the suffering of others.
With Peace and Love,
Ali Baghdadi

(An Arab-American activist, writer, columnist; worked with several African-American groups on civil and human rights issues since the mid sixties; acted as a Middle East advisor to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad the founder of the Nation of Islam, as well as Minister Louis Farrakhan; visited more than 80 countries throughout the world and met with many of their leaders, including Mandela, Castro, Saddam Hussein, Hafez Assad, Qathafi, Abdallah ibn Abdel-Aziz, Rafsanjani, Ayatollah Khamenei, among many others.)
And how is it possible that Mr. Obama could belong to a church that would take such a letter seriously enough to publish it?
The Israelis were given a blank check: they could test whenever they desired and did not even have to ask permission. Both worked on an ethnic bomb that kills Blacks and Arabs.
This is sheer insanity. But what else can one expect from “a Middle East advisor” to Messers Elijah Muhammad and Farrakhan?
Unsurprisingly, this letter originally appeared in the March 6, 2007 publication of the Palestine Times.
(Thanks to Petra for the heads up.)

“Both worked on an ethnic bomb that kills Blacks and Arabs.” Wow. I know of no fact, extrapolation of fact, or theory that would allow the construction of something like that, unless it killed pretty much everyone else, too. But I guess in a world where people believe the WTC was destroyed by timed demolitions, even a howler like this will get some believers.
I’m still perplexed about the racial composition of that church. I have yet to find anything resembling statistics, but I keep running across the word “multiracial” with respect to the church (and the reference to that lone white member). Did the non-black members get a special membership class? No doubt a separate but equal class.

Arab-American Activist Says Obama Hiding Anti-Israel Stance
“The Arab-American activist went on to say: “In 2000, when Obama unsuccessfully ran for Congress I heard him speak at a campaign fundraiser hosted by a University of Chicago professor. On that occasion and others Obama was forthright in his criticism of US policy and his call for an even-handed approach to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.”
“Obama’s about-face is not surprising,” Abunimah wrote. “He is merely doing what he thinks is necessary to get elected and he will continue doing it as long as it keeps him in power.”
When Obama first ran for the Senate in 2004, the Chicago Jewish News interviewed him on his stance regarding Israel’s security fence. He accused the Bush administration of neglecting the “Israeli-Palestinian” situation and criticized the security fence built by Israel to prevent terror attacks: “The creation of a wall dividing the two nations is yet another example of the neglect of this Administration in brokering peace,” Obama was quoted as saying.

MG; I hope the bad pennies come back soon. I miss their sermons, very enlightening, especially Michelle’s. I look forward to what else we’ll be required to do under Obam’s reign. We need to keep digging until we get a better picture thusfar what’s surfacing stinks and I’d love to help keep it to the fore!

Petra; My guess is it won’t be long. But they will be more subtle this time, and the MSM won’t pick it up, so, yes, it’ll be up to us to keep it before the public eye. McCain evinces no will to fight that battle. That might be for the best though.

MG: The wiser Obamintes on the DU site are acknowledging they have a problem with Pastorgate and are arming themselves with responses. I wonder where the “news” originated that it was McCain who asked the Pastor (called Catholics whores) came from…it’s been all over the DU site. Perhaps these which were brewed today at the huffypost…hoping some of the mud will stick.
Sean Hannity Confronted Over His Relationship With Neo-Nazi Hal Turner:
[Petra, you just forgot a / before the b here, that's all.]

It began on Sean’s show instigated by a Farrakhan cult follower and picked up by these smear merchants. “Jody Gaddy” planted it on Roland Martin’s blog hoping that their recent differences would encourage Martin would pick it up. See how they do it….sick bastards. I doubt Martin will run with it though as he got screwed with their planted story about the ambassador (I suspect that’s how it happened as that’s usually how they work).
Today they have this piece of trash albeit perhaps tongue in cheek on O’Reilly.
O’Reilly Attends Easter Services At Church Lead by Ex-Nazi:
The Huffington Post has learned that Bill O’Reilly — who claims to love America — spent Sunday at a “church” run by a former Hitler Youth named Joseph Alois Ratzinger. Ratzinger has gone to elaborate ends to hide this connection, including taking on the absurd pseudonym “Pope Benedict XVI.” Which,…

Keep in mind that the source is WND
March 24th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Last time I checked, Hannity and O’Reilly weren’t running for POTUS, nor were they proclaimed to be spiritual advisors to anyone who was. I can’t say for sure anything about Ratzinger/Hitler youth groups, but it was not uncommon for many German nationals to have been in those groups. After all, how do you say “no” to a dictator, especially if you’re a youth. I’m not making excuses here, but I do know this same smear has been used for political gain before. As for the rest of the slobber, well………consider the source(s).

The U.N. partitioned the British Mandate of Palestine into two pieces, giving half to the Jews who had moved back to the land of Canaan. The other half was to be given to the Arabs who happened to live in the Mandate, but the Arab nations rejected this proposal and instead launched a war to drive the Jews into the sea. In this 1948 Arab-Israeli War, tens of thousands of Arabs who lived in the Mandate became refugees and Israel took control of all of the former British Mandate, with the exception of Gaza, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights. The Arab nations refused to reabsorb the refugees, instead leaving them to be a perpetual problem for Israel.
Wikipedia has a section on the resulting struggle that I highly recommend reading.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
“reabsorb” –> “absorb” since the Arabs in question lived in the Mandate, not the Arab nations that declared war.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Interestingly, if the graphs on this site are accurate, it’s the Israelis, not the Palestinians, who have to worry about an ‘ethnic timebomb.’
March 24th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
An ethnic bomb? that targets only blacks and Arabs?
Simply not true, It works on radio waves and targets only Churches and Mosques that practice hate speech and anti American propaganda.
Looks like Obama may have double trouble.

The romans renamed the area Palestine to insult and spite the conquered Jews. How was this an insult? They named the land after the Philistines, the Jews’ perpetual enemy of the Torah. There really has never been a historically correct place called Palestine. It was either Cannan, Judea or Israel. The left continues to perpetuate the lie and insult to this day.

Sad that not only do these people not know World history, Christian history, American history - but their own - the NAACP was a co-operative effort between Jews and Blacks - but then -
those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it.
The sad thing is that these are college educated black men - combined with the religious aspect - who could raise their people up but are keeping them down, ignorant and hatefilled. And that has nothing to do with God or Christianity. . . Perhaps there is some truth to the islam/muslim thing - since they have no problem with spewing hate, hiding behind the religious mantle and also advocate the killing/oppressing anyone not them.
On Oprah & TUCC - all I could find was this brief mention on Newsmax.com:
-’Obama was not the only national African-American figure to cozy up to Wright. TV host Oprah Winfrey once described herself as a congregant, but in recent years has disassociated herself from the controversial minister.’-
Not all that specific as to time and reason for leaving - loved to have her speak up or out on this.

An Open Letter to All Feminists: Statement of Solidarity with Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim Women Facing War and Occupation
As feminists and people of conscience, we call for solidarity with Palestinian women in Gaza suffering due to the escalating military attacks that Israel turned into an open war on civilians. This war has targeted women and children, and all those who live under Israeli occupation in the West Bank , and are also denied the right to freedom of movement, health, and education. We stand in solidarity with Iraqi women whose daughters, sisters, brothers, or sons have been abused, tortured, and raped in U.S. prisons such as Abu Ghraib.

I know it well. I just saw a documentary about it. Beautiful place. Many biblical scholars think this is the place the Jews will flee to during the Tribulation. The place provided by God for their protection.
I too would like to see it in person. I’ve also seen video of the King of Jordan rock climbing there.
Armenia is also beautiful. My apartment manager in Fort Worth was from there and showed me many pics and videos. Her and her husband came here in 1992 and brought the whole family. Great folks.

Wright and Israel (Re: the “Ethnic Bomb” [Yuval Levin]
This Trinity United Church of Christ newsletter (PDF link) from last June seems to be making the rounds in Jewish circles. I have now had it e-mailed to me three times in the last 24 hours from friends who all more or less seem to have gotten it through their synagogues. On page 8 of the newsletter, entitled “Pastor’s Page”, Jeremiah Wright prints an “Open Letter to Oprah from Ali Baghdadi on her visit to Palestine.” Baghdadi is described as an “Arab-American activist, writer, columnist,” and the letter, among other things, accuses Israel of once working with South Africa “on an ethnic bomb that kills Blacks and Arabs.”
It also accuses Israel of war crimes, quotes Arnold Toynbee saying that “what the Zionist Jews did to the Palestinians is worse than what the Nazis did to the Jews,” speaks of “Israeli death squads” and so on.
Mostly very familiar accusations, of course (though I don’t know if I’ve heard the one about the ethnic bomb to kill “Blacks and Arabs” before), but apparently the Rev. Wright saw fit to pass them along to his congregation; and someone else (I can’t imagine who) has seen fit to make sure Jewish voters contemplating their options in the remaining Democratic primaries are aware of it. There are very few states where Jewish voters really make a difference, but Pennsylvania is one of them.

Did you notice that the author of this letter is described as having been the “Middle-east adviser” to Elijah Mohamed, the founder of the Nation of Islam? That’s quite a credential. His historical “facts” concerning Israel fit right into the Nation of Islam chronology between the time an evil scientist named “Yacub” created the white race and the time that a mothership of space aliens will come to the aid of African-Americans.

Rev. Wright’s Church Newsletter Includes Commentary Critical Of Israel
Brian Montopoli
March 27, 2008
Barack Obama’s controversial former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, continues to make headlines. The most recent focus? His church’s newsletter.
A June 10th, 2007 issue of the newsletter featured an open letter written by Ali Baghdadi, appearing on the “Pastor’s Page,” that calls Israel an “apartheid” regime. The letter says Israel worked on an “ethnic bomb” that kills “blacks and Arabs.” The letter also says “Israel was the closest ally to the white supremacists of South Africa.”
In the introduction to an article printed on the “Pastor’s Page” on July 7th, 2007, Wright references “the ’state’ of Israel” – note the quotation marks around the word “state.” …

Anonymous writes “Bin Laden.. a Messiah or a Devil?
By: Ali Baghdadi
(ArabJournl@aol.com)
Though he had spent over ten years in combat and been injured six times while fighting Soviet forces of occupation, Osama bin Laden, a son of a Saudi multi-billionaire whose business (that his children inherited) our former President Bush the father still works for, generally remained a forgotten figure in the caves of rugged and remote mountains of Afghanistan. A few, even among his Arab and Muslim compatriots, would take the turbaned guerilla fighter seriously, despite all attempts by the U.S. government and media to promote him to the world as the leader of Muslim fundamentalist terrorists that American business needs as an enemy in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union and the destruction of Communism.
However, things have changed!
Most of the credit must be given to our leaders and strategists in Washington who lack the courage and vision to address the root of the problem that led, as we are told, nineteen young Muslim men to carry out the most horrible non-governmental terrorist act in history. Instead of steering America, a damaged ship, safely to shore, and reviewing our misguided and immoral policy that made America the most hated country on earth, and resulted in the destruction of our two symbols of economic and military powers, and above all the death of innocent people, our President chose a with-us-or-against-us crusade as a solution.

The Obama Campaign told the LA Times he wasn’t a “practicing Muslim.” (3/14/2007). But his official website says: “Obama Has Never Been A Muslim, And Is a Committed Christian” (11/12/2007)
That’s not what his friends and classmates have said. Classmate Rony Amiris describes young Barry as enjoying playing football and marbles and of being a very devout Muslim. Amir said, “Barry was previously quite religious in Islam. We previously often asked him to the prayer room close to the house. If he was wearing a sarong, he looked funny,” said Rony.
Amiris, now the manager of Bank Mandiri, Jakarta, recently said, “Barry was previously quite religious in Islam. His birth father, Barack Hussein Obama was a Muslim economist from Kenya. Before marrying Ann Dunham, Hussein Obama was married to a woman from Kenya who had seven children. All the relatives of Barry’s father were very devout Muslims”
Emirsyah Satar, CEO of Garuda Indonesia, was quoted as saying, “He (Obama) was often in the prayer room wearing a ’sarong’, at that time.”
“He was quite religious in Islam but only after marrying Michelle, he changed his religion.”
So Obama, according to his classmates and friends was a Muslim until the confluence of love and ambitious, caused him to adopt the cloak of Christianity: to marry Michelle and to run for President of the United States.
In “Dreams,” Obama sheds light on his formative years and the political views of his mother, an anthropologist and Islamophile who hated America and subsequently “went native.” (It was her mother — Barry’s “other” grandmother who cared for him in his druggie teenage years — that he would describe as a “typical white person” who was, he said scoldingly, fearful of black men and prone to making stereotypical racial remarks.)
Obama Senior also had three sons by another woman who are all Muslim. Although Obama claims Senior was an atheist, Senior was buried as a Muslim.
Barack Obama’s brother Roy opted for Islam over Christianity, as the Senator recounted in his book when describing his 1992 wedding. “The person who made me proudest of all,” Obama wrote, “was Roy. Actually, now we call him Abongo, his Luo name, for two years ago he decided to reassert his African heritage. He converted to Islam, and has sworn off pork and tobacco and alcohol.”Abongo “argues that the black man must “liberate himself from the poisoning influences of European culture.” He urged his younger brother to embrace his African heritage.
In Kenya while he was a Senator, Obama stumped for his cousin, opposition leader Raila Odinga, the son of Senior’s sister, a direct first cousin and nephew of Obama’s father.
On August 29, 2007, Raila Odinga and Shiekh Abdullah Abdi, chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum of Kenya signed a Memorandum of Understanding in which it pledges the support of Kenyan Moslems for Raila’s election. In return, as President of Kenya, Raila agrees … within 6 months re-write the Constitution of Kenya to recognize Shariah as the only true law sanctioned by the Holy Quran for Muslim declared regions [and] within one year to facilitate the establishment of a Shariah court in every Kenyan divisional headquarters — everywhere in Kenya, not just in “Muslim declared regions” — and to popularize Islam, the only true religion … by ordering every primary school in Kenya in the regions to conduct daily Madrassa classes.
In an interview with the New York Times, published on April 30th, Maya Soetoro-Ng, Obama’s younger half sister, told the Times, “My whole family was Muslim, and most of the people I knew were Muslim.”
Obama describes his new found “Christian” faith as: (1) Suspicious of dogma (2) Without any monopoly on the truth (3) Nontransferable to others (4) Infused with a big healthy dose of doubt, and (5) Indulgent of and compatible with all other religions.
On February 27th, speaking to Kristof of The New York Times, Barack Hussein Obama said the Muslim call to prayer is “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”
In an interview with Nicholas Kristof, published in The New York Times, Obama recited the Muslim call to prayer, the Adhan, “with a first-class [Arabic] accent.”
The opening lines of the Adhan (Azaan) is the Shahada:
“Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is his prophet? ”
According to Islamic scholars, reciting the Shahada, the Muslim declaration of faith, makes one a Muslim. This simple yet profound statement expresses a Muslim’s complete acceptance of, and total commitment to, the message of Islam. Obama chanted it with pride and finesse.
An American Expat in Southeast Asia blog, written by an American who has lived in Indonesia for 20 years and has met with both the Taliban and al-Qaeda, contains the following:
“Barack Hussein Obama might have convinced some Americans that he is no longer a Muslim, but so far he has not convinced many in the world’s most populous Muslim country who still see him as a Muslim and a crusader for Islam and world peace.”
“Barack Hussein Obama’s race, his staunch opposition to the war in Iraq, his sympathy to Islam and Muslims worldwide and his Muslim heritage receive the Indonesian media coverage. There is no mention of his apostasy.”
“A good example of how some of the Indonesian media is reporting on Obama’s religion can be found in the following.”
“What I found interesting in the article was the use of the word ‘mengaku’ when refering to Obama’s conversion from Islam to Christianity. The word ‘mengaku’ in Indonesian means “claimed” and as such leaves the insinuation to the native Indonesian reader being that Obama might actually still be a Muslim.
But this is how Indonesians see Obama, they don’t see him as an apostate at all, they see him as a crusader for the cause of Islam.”

I’ve read a lot of the information here and there on the web but the author has put it together in an excellent essay. Slowly but surely we’re connecting the dots…

I saw this being talked about on Anderson 360 tonight. I must say I was shocked because I thought all the liberals were locked into the socialist empty suit’s camp. I even (gag me) reprogramed all those loser networks (CNN and MSNBC) back into our list - had to say I could not stand more than 5 minutes of Chris(sy) Matthews flapping his gums over Her Royal Clinton. . .
Well, I guess SG should take a bow - instead of cursing the darkness, he chose to light a candle and all the cockroachs are running for cover!

Petra: Excellent article…thanks for the link. This has a slightly more credible feel to it than some others on the same topic.

uH, oH….
This was supposed to be the week that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. returned to the pulpit to preach for the first time since his anti-American sermons generated nationwide outrage and drew condemnation from his longtime parishioner, Barack Obama.
But, citing security concerns, Wright canceled his speaking engagements in Florida and Texas. A spokeswoman at his former church in Chicago said his schedule is pending.
A two-week FOX News investigation, however, has uncovered where Wright will be spending a good deal of his time in retirement, and it is a far cry from the impoverished Chicago streets where the preacher led his ministry for 36 years.
FOX News has uncovered documents that indicate Wright is about to move to a 10,340-square-foot, four-bedroom home in suburban Chicago, currently under construction in a gated community.
While it is not uncommon for an accomplished clergyman to live in luxury, Wright’s retirement residence is raising some questions.
“Some people think deals like this are hypocritical. Jeremiah Wright himself criticizes people from the pulpit for middle classism, for too much materialism,” said Andrew Walsh, Associate Director of the Leonard E. Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life with Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.
“So he’s entitled to be tweaked here. So the question really is, how unusual is this? Somewhat unusual,” he said.
According to documents obtained from the Cook County Register of Deeds, Wright purchased two empty lots in Tinley Park, Ill., from Chicago restaurant chain owner Kenny Lewis for $345,000 in 2004.
Documents show Wright sold the property to his church, Trinity United, in December 2006, with the proceeds going to a living trust shared with his wife, Ramah.
The sale price for the land was just under $308,000, about $40,000 less than Wright’s original purchase two years earlier.
Public records of the sale show Trinity initially obtained a $10 million bank loan to purchase the property and build a new house on the land.
But further investigation with tax and real estate attorneys showed that the church had actually secured a $1.6 million mortgage for the home purchase, and attached a $10 million line of credit, for reasons unspecified in the paperwork.
There is apparently nothing wrong with that, according to non-profit tax expert Jack Siegel of Charity Governance Consulting, who examined public documents FOX News obtained from the Cook County Register of Deeds and the Village of Tinley Park.
“At least looking at it from a public document standpoint, there’s clearly not a problem that jumps out or some sort of wrongdoing,” Siegel said.
Siegel characterizes the transaction as unusual, however, because of the way Wright sold the property to Trinity and the way the deal was financed, with the attached $10 million line of credit.
Because churches are classified as private businesses, Trinity isn’t required to reveal its intended use for the line of credit. Nor, because it’s a non-profit entity, is it required to provide that information to the IRS.
A spokesman for ShoreBank, the Chicago-based financial institution that secured mortgages for the loans, said the deals were aboveboard.
Wright did not respond to repeated calls for comment, and Trinity United refused to discuss the specifics of the home it is building for him and the way the deal was financed.
The church referred FOX News to its denominational headquarters in Cleveland, which provided a statement of support:
“It is customary and appropriate in many Christian denominations, including the United Church of Christ, for local churches to offer housing provisions for retiring clergy, especially in cases where pastors have served long-term pastorates. We support efforts by our 5,700 local churches to ensure that retiring pastors and spouses have continuing housing, adequate pension and health care, as an expression of our continuing appreciation for their years of service. Each local UCC congregation is free to honor a retiring pastor in ways it feels most appropriate to address the needs of that clergyperson’s circumstances,” wrote the Rev. J. Bennett Guess, spokesman for UCC’s national office.
“This is about how these kinds of churches work,” notes Walsh. “These pastors who made big successful churches are real valuable commodities. Is it morally wrong? Well, Protestants don’t have the idea that their religious leaders should live modestly or aesthetically. We’re not talking Buddhist monks or Catholic priests here. There’s no tradition that says they have to live poor.”
Tradition at Trinity United centers on a congregation that’s unashamedly black and unapologetically Christian, according to the church’s website. There are also no apologies from the church for the home it’s building for its former senior pastor, who nurtured a religious empire that grew to have more than 8,000 congregants.
