Of course Barack and Michelle Obama failed in Copenhagen. Their strategy could not possibly succeed. In their academic arrogance, they thought they could sell a product they clearly do not believe in (the United States) and moreover, they could do so by stressing the benefits to the seller (Chicago) and not the buyer (the IOC). And to top it off, they committed the faux pas of talking too much about the sales force (themselves) and not about the product or the buyer.

So, had Chi Town won the bid, how were they going to disguise all those bad, run down HUD projects? Maybe 'Dick' (emphasis mine) Daley would've had his goons, knee breakers, etc. rough up or cap anyone who got too close to what they shouldn't see. The Chicago Cabal has had it's first kick in the cajones and it's hurting them like hell.

"Thousands of people stood in bewildered silence in downtown Chicago on Friday after the International Olympic Committee surprised everyone by dumping the city from the race for 2016 Summer Olympics in the first round of voting."

Reality of such a catastrophic event in Copenhagen for this President and his Democratic Party; Hold that pose of disbelief, because it is a definite sign of defeat, which is waiting for this entire bunch, first in 2010 and then 2012.

When I heard this news break yesterday, it was ALMOST as wonderful a moment as when our Soldiers captured Sadam Hussein. It proves two things beyond a doubt -- 1. There IS a GOD. and 2. His name is NOT Obama.

The best part of this is that Jesse of course blames <b>America</b>, and by reference, <b>Bush</b>.

<blockquote>"<b>Oh, I'm sure there must be (anti-American sentiment) with what we did with the Kyoto Treaty, the way we misled the world into Iraq</b>," Jackson said. "<b>Many people in the world had a very bad taste in their mouth about us. But there was such a turnaround after last November. The world now feels better about America. That's why I thought the president going was the deal-maker.</b>"

Here's the <i>NY Times</i> take on this travesty of justice (tee hee hee!)

<blockquote><b>Rio Wins 2016 Olympics in a First for South America</b>

...Rio and Chicago had gone into the day considered the favorites, ahead of Tokyo and Madrid. But by the time Rio was chosen by the International Olympic Committee to become the first South American city to host the Olympics, the Chicago delegation and its star-studded supporters were nowhere in sight.

They had already left the building.

...Some pointed to the regional bloc voting in the treacherous first round. Others said some voters, assuming Chicago was a lock to advance because of the presence of Mr. Obama and his wife, Michelle, might have taken their early votes elsewhere. Many also blamed the rocky relationship between the United States Olympic Committee and the I.O.C.

Others said there was no explaining it.

“Everybody was shocked at that result,” said Rene Fasel, an I.O.C. member from Switzerland, regarding Chicago’s first-round ouster. “Everybody expected Chicago and Rio, everybody. It was really strange, and I feel really sorry. If it would have been Chicago and Rio in the end, it would have been much closer.”

Anita DeFrantz, one of two I.O.C. members from the United States, said she could not believe how the vote unfolded, particularly after the Obamas’ visit. “I hate the fact that these<b> elegant people</b> were here and then our country got treated that way,” she said.

Beyond showing an apparent indifference to the United States’ star power, the I.O.C. vote was interpreted as a repudiation of the U.S.O.C., which has been in upheaval over the past year and has struggled to gain a favorable standing within the I.O.C.

AP:CHICAGO - So much for Da Games.
By DEANNA BELLANDI Oct 2, 2009

"I was shocked. I was disappointed. I couldn't believe it," said Mayor Richard M. Daley, who didn't even have time to get to the voting ceremony in Copenhagen before the IOC bounced Chicago en route to picking Rio de Janeiro.

Daley had said the Olympics would lead to new construction and jobs, while drawing in federal money to help fix a mass transit system in need of an estimated $10 billion overhaul.

...said Vince Monaco, an unemployed 35-year-old in the city. "Since we went out in the first round,

I think someone in the IOC has a chip on their shoulder against the U.S."

huge television screens set up in Daley Plaza, named for the mayor's father.

The Chicago bid had plenty of homegrown firepower, from Oprah Winfrey to the first lady, South Side native Michelle Obama, both of whom spent two days in Copenhagen charming and chatting up members of the IOC.

President Obama joined them Friday and the first couple were part of Chicago's presentation to the IOC,

though Air Force One left for the U.S. before the voting began.

With Chicago well-known for public corruption and problems with public services, opponents had serious concerns about Olympics-sized hassles and bills, despite assurances by Daley and bid organizers that taxpayers wouldn't owe a dime.

"Maybe it's possible we overwhelmed them with all our celebrity power," offered Jennifer Bruch, a 33-year-old Chicagoan.

AP National Writer Nancy Armour in Copenhagen and AP Writer Don Babwin in Chicago contributed to this report.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091003/ap_on_re_us/us2016_bids_chicago_reax

So, it was Air Force 1 and not 2 jumbo jets? And Obama did stay with his wife and not leave after only 5 hours because of the health bill waiting (not noting soldiers dying. Obama still plans for bullet speed hub in Chicago.
Chicago did not qualify, the President and Daly were stupid for not reading up on the rules, and they are an embarrassment for Amercia ;) America.

I think someone in the IOC has a chip on their shoulder against the U.S.”

huge television screens set up in Daley Plaza, named for the mayor’s father.

The Chicago bid had plenty of homegrown firepower, from Oprah Winfrey to the first lady, South Side native Michelle Obama, both of whom spent two days in Copenhagen charming and chatting up members of the IOC.

President Obama joined them Friday and the first couple were part of Chicago’s presentation to the IOC,

though Air Force One left for the U.S. before the voting began.

With Chicago well-known for public corruption and problems with public services, opponents had serious concerns about Olympics-sized hassles and bills, despite assurances by Daley and bid organizers that taxpayers wouldn’t owe a dime.

“Maybe it’s possible we overwhelmed them with all our celebrity power,” offered Jennifer Bruch, a 33-year-old Chicagoan.

AP National Writer Nancy Armour in Copenhagen and AP Writer Don Babwin in Chicago contributed to this report.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/200.....icago_reax

So, it was Air Force 1 and not 2 jumbo jets? And Obama did stay with his wife and not leave after only 5 hours because of the health bill waiting (not noting soldiers dying. Obama still plans for bullet speed hub in Chicago.
Chicago did not qualify, the President and Daly were stupid for not reading up on the rules, and they are an embarrassment for Amercia ;) America.

Well, at least this is one Hitler/Obama comparison that doesn't work.

Hitler was able to get the Olympics for his town.

As we here can see the Obama arrogance, and although the state-run media refuses to acknowledge or display it, it is plainly clear to the IOC. American arrogance is already something they are sensitive to and Narcissus II, the president, made the classic, juvenile, sophomoric and reprehensible mistake. I saw it all the time as a GI in Europe. That "American" "let me show 'em how it's done" attitude and the open criticism of everything from how they live to the kinds of food they eat.

To the IOC, the stormtroopers arrival in the form of Mitch-hell, D'OHprah and the whole hee-haw-ain't-we-sumpin' crowd was one of the rudest, most obnoxious displays they ever saw. They were not merely offended by it but I suspect they were appalled.

Additionally, their minds were most likely made up long before the Obama posse' even set foot on Danish soil. Additionally, the Danes are not ostentatious people. Socialists, sure...but reserved and quite polite. They consider themselves quite civilized and certainly no rude rube from the colonies is going to push them around.

They admire and respect real, genuine humility. You can see the problem here.

Much can be said about what's currently wrong with Europe. But, I do have to say....that although much of their system is misaligned, they generally are more savvy and more intelligent than, say....a self-important young president who is so used to getting his way that he cannot see the mud he tracks in on the neighbor's carpet. Or doesn't care.

Nope, we had classes on this in the military. Things not to say...do....and why it's impolite to point...or how to remain silent, even. Clearly, the boy simply viewed Denmark as eastern New Jersey or something and figured they would all go ga-ga at this magazine cover of a president.

A real true Homer moment. What's especially delicious to me is that he has no idea what he did wrong. Nor does Mitch-hell...although D'OHprah may have a slight inkling but another slice of cake will make that go away and she'll dismiss it. She'll call Tom Cruise on the phone and he'll tell her she should have "done something special, like jump up and down on a couch".

But, the Obamatons are the ones who have pink flamingos on their lawn and actually think they are "classic". Same for velvet paintings and leopard-pattern skin tight outfits. Europeans see us ALL as tacky and uncivilized. But some especially so.
