Outrage: Palin To Address Hunting Group!

From the surely outraged folks at The Hill:

Palin to deliver address at gun convention

By Jordan Fabian – 01/14/11

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) will deliver a keynote address to a gun convention later this month.

Palin will speak Saturday, Jan. 29, to the Safari International Club (SCI) in Reno, Nev.,  according to the group’s website. The organization bills itself as "the leader in protecting the freedom to hunt and promoting wildlife conservation worldwide."

Er, that doesn’t quite sound like a "gun convention" to us.

The 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee’s speech is expected to touch on "her past hunting experiences and how politics affects the current state of hunting and fishing."

The address comes amid a debate in Congress over gun rights that followed the shootings of 20 people at a meet-and-greet event for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.). Palin’s speech will likely be watched to see if she references the Arizona shooting, which left six dead and 14 wounded, including Giffords.

Palin was drawn into the debate after liberals criticized materials on her political action committee’s website, which, in calling for the defeat of Giffords and other Democrats, put their districts in the crosshairs of a rifle. Palin defended herself with a lengthy message on Facebook this week that ended up causing more controversy. Her message came out the day of a memorial service for the victims of the shooting, and her use of the term "blood libel" also created a firestorm.

She also received renewed criticism of her campaign refrain "Don’t retreat, reload," even though she has previously said it was not a call for violence.

How kind of The Hill to run through all of the outrageously false charges against Palin for us again.

Palin’s speech to the gun convention will come as members of Congress in both political parties are pushing gun-control legislation in response to the shooting. The proposed legislation includes a ban on carrying guns within 1,000 feet of a lawmaker and a crackdown on high-capacity magazines, such as the one used by Jared Lee Loughner, the accused gunman.

Palin has been a vocal supporter of gun rights. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has not been receptive to the recent gun-control efforts, and the White House has not thrown its weight behind a proposal.

Others expected to appear at the convention are comedian Larry the Cable Guy, musical acts Marshall Tucker Band and Pure Prairie League, an Elvis impersonator, NASCAR team owner Richard Childress and conservative commentator Michael Reagan.

Obviously, we are meant to be shocked and appalled by these tidings. We are supposed to be left sputtering – ‘how far will this crazy women go? At long last, has she no shame?’

Clearly, Ms. Palin must never mention hunting or guns ever again in her entire life.

That’s no ‘Elvis impersonator’, baby! That’s the King himself! Sarah Palin brought him back with her voodoo skills!

We here know that Mrs. Palin didn’t mean what
    they are twisting this into.
May I add more famous quotes passed on through history……

“Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition”
“Don’t shoot ’til you see the white in their eyes”

Feel free to add on, busy bees!

It’s more than that LD. She didn’t just not mean the things, she didn’t say the things they claim she has said.

      I stand corrected.

      “Seize the Moment”
SF motto (I work on Ft. Bragg)

    • Right of the People says:

Carpe Diem is the “official” motto, you don’t expect them to put the other one on a sign do you? It might offend PC sensibilities.

It’s what it was in Vietnam. It might not be official but you find you an old time NCO like a Sargent Major who was over in SE Asia back in the day and he’ll tell you that’s what they said.

I remember because I from that era and I heard it more than once.

Speaking of Vietnam, right now I’m reading HERO FOUND by Bruce Henderson, subtitled “The Greatest POW Escape of the Vietnam War.” Excellent but gosh-awful difficult read. Dieter Dengler, a Navy pilot, was downed in Laos. “The guards would keep any leftover meat for several days until it was too rotten to eat. A guard would then bring it to the prisoners, holding a towel over his nose and mouth. Thrown onto the ground, the putrid meat was so moldy it was green; it sat there ‘moving and bubbling’ with crawling maggots. The first time Dieter ‘chowed down’ with the others, he vomited. After that–realizing he would die if he didn’t eat–he helped divide it into equal portions for everyone, and kept his own portion down. Not bothering to pick out the maggots, he pulverized them with his teeth before swallowing.”

The next time some chump rags on about jihadists being tortured by wearing panties on their heads, I’m gonna work real hard not to scream, yell and punch.

Does anyone think for a moment that Sarah wouldn’t make a great Commander-in-Chief?

  3. Mae says:

Liberals Demise, how about Psalm 144:1-8:

“Blessed be the LORD, my rock,
who trains my hands for war,
    and my fingers for battle;
he is my steadfast love and my fortress,
    my stronghold and my deliverer,
my shield and he in whom I take refuge,
    who subdues peoples under me.

LORD, what is man that you regard him,
or the son of man that you think of him?
    Man is like a breath;
his days are like a passing shadow.

Bow your heavens, O LORD, and come down!
Touch the mountains so that they smoke!
    Flash forth the lightning and scatter them;
send out your arrows and rout them!
    Stretch out your hand from on high;
rescue me and deliver me from the many waters,
    from the hand of foreigners,
    whose mouths speak lies
and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.”

Oh, that pesky Jew, King David! Warmonger!!

HA! The Hill missed one in their litany:

That time in 3rd. Grade and her lunch
    money discrepancy. Probably bought
    BB’s with it.

  5. wardmama4 says:

I can’t add to this line of discussion – but to lighten up the mood – went to the website – tickets for Sarah Palin’s keynote address are sold out – but you can get tickets to see Larry the Cable Guy.

Even in Nevada – Oh my!

  6. merkelerk says:

“The proposed legislation includes a ban on carrying guns within 1,000 feet of a lawmaker”

    That doesn’t go far enough!
I say make it illegal to kill….oh right, there is that law already.

    • Liberals Demise says:

Thousands of gun laws on the books they don’t or won’t
enforce will not stop one idiot hell bent on spreading hot
      lead around.
Locks only keep the honest man honest.
Laws are meant to be broken these days or so it seems.
One look at the ilk in the DC zone confirms this!

  7. merkelerk says:

Excessive burdensome laws only serve to make criminals out of the law abiding, decent citizen.
To wit, the gun laws in Canada are such that the innocent mistake of leaving the house to go duck hunting and forgetting to bring your shotgun registration paper with you is a federal offence.

One would think that after two hundred and some odd years of legislators legislating, all reasonable laws would have already been written.

    • Mithrandir says:

Ignorance of the law is NO EXCUSE! –Ever hear that one? Have you ever BEEN to a law library before? It’s friggin’ huge!

After 234 years of making laws, it’s time to take a vacation from government. During that time, they can clean up and get rid of a lot of stupid laws they already made…..at their own time and expense of course.

  8. wirenut says:

For the simpleminded PC crowd. Hunting and guns are one in the same. It’s not even close to those that do both. As a gun owner, I’ve walked the woods, (unarmed) just to see how close I could get to “nature” before it\they would flee. A test of skills, if you will, and great fun. Observing wild game as it “is”, is what’s it all about. I took those lessons and applied them, (with the proper firearm) to the dinner table. Sarah does the same. NOTE TO LEFTARDS: Instead of wringing your hands at the drive-up, go out to “NATURE” and fend for yourself. Sometimes you have to wait alot longer for the”biggie size”.

    • wardmama4 says:

Not only that – that which is shot on the hoof – does not contain antibiotics and aren’t eating GMO grains.

And people have to wonder why allergies are shooting up every year? Maybe some intrepid researcher might want to look into whether the antibiotic & GMO laden meat supply has to do with rise in allergies and/or autism? Of course the FDA and it’s revolving door ‘bff’ Monsanto won’t allow THAT study to see the light of day.

  9. Mithrandir says:

HUZZAH! FINALLY, a Republican that is treating the left with their own brand of tone-deafness!

The libs ignored the pleas not to pass health care reform, and they rammed it through anyway.

This is EXACLTLY the way to treat liberals, when they say something, you ignore it, and do the opposite or whatever you want…..drives them nutz!

Do whatever you want, talk over and around their arguments, and do it anyway. –Stop peeking over your shoulder to see if liberals approve or not….they DON’T just soldier on…

I think back over the last 22 years of Rush Limbaugh, and before that, the 8 years of Reagan….and it just fills my heart with joy, that liberals are angry, miserable, and NO MATTER what they do or say against these men, they are just punching themselves in the face, conservatives keep getting more and more money and popularity—classic!

  10. eaglewingz08 says:

Michael Moore and the libtards used the same attack on Charlton Heston’s appearance at the NRA Convention in Colorado after the Columbine attack. They have no shame. The Hill is further disingenuous and/or deceitful by saying Palin was drawn into the debate because of some ‘materials that appeared on her website’. She was drawn into the debate by liberals saying she had blood on her hands for the slaughter and that she was an accomplice to murder and that she was on the lam for failing to answer these outrageous libels. And The Hill is further deceitful in putting those false charges out there without presenting the overwhelming evidence that Loughner was not right wing, was a liberal, he had never voted for or listened to Palin or talk radio, and that he had a pre-existing grudge against Giffords going back to 2007, way before Palin came onto the scene. I used to have some grudging respect for the Hill, but after this attack, er, report, it has none in my book. It’s just more of the same vile liberal democrap complex.

    • dscam says:

Don’t forget the hand-to-hand combat that the health care bill was going to require, or how the Latino population should be looking to punish their enemies. The liberal mind just confounds me. How they can blame Palin for Loughner’s lunacy is beyond me, especially when their much-beloved president consistently frames political debate in words that would also be appropriate for an Army captain in a landing craft approaching Omaha Beach in 1944. That’s to say nothing, of course, of all the democratic websites that used bulls-eyes to target certain districts. I actually talked to a liberal who tried to explain to me that crosshairs are a much more violent image than a bulls-eye, which they apparently think connotates an innocent game of darts. Sheesh.

Palin can always mention the NRA supported Reid and because he built the largest firing range in the world.

Luke 11: “When a strong man fully armed guards his own homestead, his possessions are undisturbed.”

During the last supper, Jesus warned the apostles the time had come when the pharisees were coming to get him and crucify him. Jesus was only concerned for the apostles safety, knowing the time they were coming after him with clubs & swords.

Luke 35: And He said to them, When I sent you without a purse and bag and sandals, you did not
lack anything, did you?” And they said , “No, nothing.”

Luke 36: And He said to them, “But now, let him who has a purse take it along, likewise also a bag, and let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one.”

Luke: Jesus also said there would come a time a Bank that would take everything away from the people.
