Palin Lynched In Effigy In W. Hollywood

From a delighted Associated Press:

Halloween Palin Prop Sparks Controversy In WeHo

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (AP) ― A Halloween decoration showing a mannequin dressed as vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin hanging by a noose from the roof of a West Hollywood home is drawing giggles from some passers-by and gasps of outrage from others.

The mannequin is dressed in brunet wig, glasses and a red business suit. Another mannequin dressed as John McCain emerges from a flaming chimney.

Chad Michael Morisette, who lives in the house, told CBS 2 News that drivers and bus passengers have been stopping to snap pictures of the macabre scene.

Morisette says the effigy would be out of bounds at any other time of year, but it’s within the spirit of Halloween.

He says “it should be seen as art, and as within the month of October. It’s Halloween, it’s time to be scary it’s time to be spooky.”

It is perhaps understandable that the denizens of West Hollywood would especially loathe Mrs. Palin.

Creator of the display, Chad Michael Morrisette, says his subjects are fair game during the Halloween season.

But isn’t ‘lynching’ someone in effigy a hate crime? Isn’t even being in possession of a noose against the numerous laws these days?

Or is it different if the targets are white? Or Republican?

Or perhaps the perpetrator being a homosexual gives him a free pass?

Still, aren’t both Mr. McCain and Mrs. Palin “protected persons” under federal law?

Again, such laws probably don’t not apply as strictly for members of the GOP.

But ironically, many of these laws were enacted to protect Republicans from the Democrat terrorists of the Ku Klux Klan.

“Enemy of da State!” a special adventure from ONLY IN AMERICA: the Legend of Barack Obama”! Part One: “Behind the Wire”

“Out! Out! Let’s go! Everybody off of the train!”

The heavy doors slid back with a crash and Artboy stumbled onto the platform. The sudden blaze of sunlight hurt his eyes.

“Form up! Form up! Get in line, you hate-filled scum!” ordered the guards and soon he found himself standing at attention among the shambling, ragged columns of the exiles. The dogs snapped and strained on their leashes.

After a few minutes, a kind of golden throne, carried by sweating prisoners, appeared. Upon it sat a bloated, red-faced figure, wearing shorts and a pith helmet, holding a horse’s tail fly whisk in one meaty paw.

“Pwisoners!” barked the man-mountain. “Welgome do Camp Tookie! My name is Cap’n Jack Murtha; I am da Commandant here”. Dis is a federal re-education and containment facilidy for conservadives, Republicans and udder non-progressive elemends. At Camp Tookie enemies of da state like youse people learn new ways of thinkin’ and forget da old ways dat have brought youse ta dis unhappy pass. Ad Camp Tookie youse will woik hard ta build da progressive America of da future and ta adone for ya past crimes. If youse work and study hard, youse will be well-treated. If youse does not, youse will be punished!”

Cap’n Jack was perspiring heavily from the exertion and fanned himself rapidly. “From Camp Tookie dere is no excape!” he continued. “We are alone in da Nevada desert. If youse try ta excape youse will die out in da desert and da buzzards will pick ya bones. Wise up! Serve ya sentence quietly, obey da guards, woik and study hard, and all will be well. Afta roll call youse will be dismissed to da barracks dat’ll be youse new home. Remember; ad camp Tookie, woik will make youse free, okay? Good. Now; lissen up!”

The guards pushed the shambling, orange clad prisoners into line for roll call. Standing in the dusty parade ground. Artboy’s blood-rimmed eyes took in the barbed wire and the guard towers, the new barracks with their big, colourful murals of a grinning President Obama, the golden rays of the sun beaming from behind his jug-eared head.

“Prisoners! Pay attention and respond with ’Yo’ when your name is called!” ordered a clipboard toting officer. “Okay: Aardvark, Aaron?”

    “Artboy, Maynard G?”

    “Say, ‘Yo’, thought criminal”.

    “Okay. Artboy, Maynard G?”

“Hey, I told you to say ‘Yo’!”

    “So say it.”

    “Say what, sir?”

    “Say ‘Yo’!”

“Fine. Now when I say your name, you say ‘Yo’, okay?”

    “Okay, sir”.

“Good”. The guard cleared his throat. “Artboy, Maynard G?”

“What’s the matter with you? I told you to say ‘Yo’ when I say your name, right wing conspirator!”

“Yessir! You did say that, sir!”

“You told me to say ‘Yo’ when you said ‘your name’. You never said ‘your name’, sir”.

    “I said your name!”

“No sir, I don’t wish to contradict the officer but you did not, sir!”

    “I said ‘Artboy, Maynard G’!”

    “Yes sir!”

    “So I said your name!”

“No sir, you did not say ‘your name’, sir. You said ‘Artboy, Maynard G’!”

    “They’re the same thing!”

“No sir. With respect, sir, they are two different things. That’s why they sound different. Let me help you, sir: what would the officer like me to say, sir?”

“I want you to say ‘Yo’!”

“Fine! Excellent! Now we’re getting somewhere. Okay: now when I say ‘Artboy, Maynard G’ – you say what?”

“I say ‘what’? I thought the officer wanted me to say ‘Yo’?”

    “I do!”

“But what happened to ‘what’, sir?”

“Nothing! Nothing happened to what! I want you to say ‘Yo’! Yo! Yo! Yo! Yo!”

    “Yo! Yo! Yo! Yo!”

“Finally! Now (ahem): Artboy, Maynard G?”

“You don’t say ‘what’, you gun-hugging honkie racist! You say ‘Yo’!”

    “Artboy, Maynard G?”

“Whad’s da problem here?” demanded Cap’n Jack. “We need ta get a move on to da next phase of rehabilidation. Dese prisoner’s brains won’t wash demselves, youse know”.

“Sorry, Cap’n, but this prisoner is being wilfully obstructive, sir”.

“Am not!” wailed the incarcerated Bostonian. “I did what you said!”

“Are so” insisted the guard. “You heard him, Cap’n Jack!”

“Hmmm, da old Abbott and Costello routine, huh? Okay, funny guy – thirty days in da Box. Let’s see youse laugh dat off”.

“The Box! Not the Box! Nooooo!!!” Fussing and whining, the lanky conservative was dragged away as the roll call continued:

    “Plumber, Joe the?”

    “Six Pack, Joe?”

    “Gun owner, Joe the?”

Uh oh! This doesn’t look good, does it? Tune in tomorrow for the next thrilling instalment!

This is just the sort of depraved indifference of those on the left. If someone had an effigy of the thug messiah hanging, the perpetrator would probably be investigated and threatened. As Americans we have to start standing up and attaching consequences to this sort of poor behavior.

Like the fabulous governor, I have gay friends and family I love very much. And I wonder… don’t any of them get it? Obama is no more gay friendly than Palin or McCain! He doesn’t support gay marriage either. He talks about domestic partnerships and civil unions–partners’ rights to visit partners in the hospital, etc… McCain and Palin don’t detract from that.

  18. patricko says:

I thought there were two interesting aspects in the original story that I read. In that article Chad acknowleged that if he had done it to an Obama figure, he’d get something thrown through his window, but it was ok with a white woman. And the other thing was that a guy who was mildly criticizing the display as poor taste, wouldn’t give his last name.

  19. DEZ says:

This chump should trade places with the McCain dummy, its obvious he is the one that’s flaming.

  20. Consilience says:

ACCOUNTABILITY. This should be the watch-word in the years to come. The Republic will survive only if we hold these bastards (both parties) ACCOUNTABLE. There was a “million man march”—but what would happen if the folks who make this economy work decided to march on Washington and every major city until the federal government was brought to heel? Just a thought.

  21. Anonymoose says:

The guy seems to think it;s “ok” to hang a dummy of a white woman.

It’s supposed to be “spooky” or “scary” but instead angry and hateful. Spooky to most people at some level means humorous, something not meant to be taken seriously. Things done in the season of Halloween usually have Halloween imagery associated with it.

I think the intense hatred some people have for Palin (notice the dummy has it’s hands tied behind it’s back) is because she symbolizes to them all the people in flyover land, and it scares the liberal crowd to death that one of us may actually be elected to national office.

  22. sheehanjihad says:

Consilience….that is more possible than you may give it credit for. Within the next two years of total democrat destruction of our way of life, and the new socialism, the rules, the laws…all benefiting those who dont earn it at the expense of those who do, all of it will come to a head. People will organize, and they will march. We will get things back to a new normal….where elected officials face prison time for earmarks and corruption, and they can only stay in office by their record. I am confident it will happen….but like most victims of abuse and rape…our society will have to endure that indignity first, and then react. The democrats and socialists worldwide are banking on total capitulation of the masses…..they are so wrong. And I intend to prove it.

  23. Consilience says:

sheehanjihad: Thanks for you comments. We need to overhaul the federal system. We need to repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments (income tax and direct election of senators). We need to get the fed’s hands out of our pockets and have the states pay their own way. That’s a start. We must fundamentally change the role and influence of the national government and get government back to a place where the People’s voices can be heard. ACCOUNTABILITY.

  24. DW says:

As a foreigner here, I am very curious as to what the problem is with the 17th amendment (election of senators).
Can you (or anyone else) expand on that, please?

  25. conservstudent says:

As many of you have already pointed out, if someone were to hold an effigy of Obama like this, it would instantly be a hate crime. If I think about it, if someone were to even put a noose up, without an effigy, say in some place like Louisiana, Al Sharpton would be all over it. But where are the feminists protesting now? Isn’t it a hate crime for a man to put up an effigy of a woman? I’ll tell you why they aren’t there. To the feminists, Palin is no longer one of them. Feminism is supposed to be about equality for all genders, specifically to help out the women. But the second a women has an opinion that does not coincide with their own, they are the enemy. They must be a “turncoat”, because they won’t support a woman’s “right to choose”. Well what about the child’s right to choose? Who are we to decide what is best for someone before they are born? That is what Feminism has turned into these days. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in equal rights for all (U.S. citizens). But these days, the radical feminists turn it into a war of women versus men, and any women that don’t agree with their opinions. Sorry about my comment being all over the place, but I’ve been thinking about it a lot and I really needed to get it off my chest, and thought this is the best place to do it.

  26. Consilience says:

The direct election of senators is not what the Framers planned. In the original Constitution, senators were to represent the interests of the several States, not the People. Check out this link for more background, but remember where the bailout bill originated—the senate (these bubbas spend most of their time raising money to run again—under the original Constituion, the several State legislatures sent them.

  27. sheehanjihad says:

the biggest question is, how can we change it? Our own government is totally against anything that will erode their immense power and control of the population. They make the laws to suit themselves at our expense. Again, I pose this question to the more intelligent out there…

HOW do we get it back? How do we create a phoenix government, a good one that can rise out of the fecal decay that exists there now? I would be open to any suggestions that prevent using force. Is there some way that we, citizens of the real America, and regain what was taken from under our noses?

  28. DW says:

    Thanks Consilience.
Ironically, conservatives up here, north of the ‘Medicine Line’ have been agitating for years to have our Senate elected as opposed to appointed (may well have something to do with decades of Liberal rule and patronage appointments).
Here’s one take on it that actually (coincidentally) came out today (if you’re interested):

Apologies to all for the temporary hijack of the thread.

It won’t be pretty, NBC/ABC/CBS/CNN/Fox won’t like the solution. The only good government is a one that is small and accountable—something the national government is not. WE have to dismantle this BEAST, and we do it by not cooperating—first and foremost, and by bringing attention to our cause. Calypso Louis got a lot of attention by having a “million man march” —that drew maybe 200K bodies—-what if we all—the folks who contribute/pay taxes/care about America marched on every state capitol and DC? These unscrubbed nitwits didn’t paralyze, but they got attention. WE have to get away from the the canned “political speak” that is filtered through focus groups—and speak the truth.

  34. sheehanjihad says:

The msm and the usual race baiters and misogynists such as NOW are so weak in their so called fight for “rights”. They dont think Palin is a decent person, but that Columbia snag who hung a noose on her own door for attention is a “victim”. The msm smelled blood in the water, put on their kneepads and came slithering quickly for a “story”. There wasnt one of course, but that didnt stop anybody from reporting the “version d’jour” for weeks.

Sarah Palin (imho) was fettered by the same weak and ineffective out of their league campaign strategists who allowed McCain to appear the same. Palin isnt like them. She has had her hands tied by her own people…..and methinks that if she is still alive in 2012, she will give both parties a run for their money. Trouble is, I dont think the GOP has the stomach for it anymore, and the democrats will be flush with power and looking at a complete take over to really give a damn who runs. They will be in absolute control by then, and any opponent will not be able to mount much of a campaign at all.

I wonder if Palin would entertain a third party status…..like Teddy Roosevelt did because he had the same problem with entrenched politicians…..he won too. Yeah, I can dream. I have to dream. We are beginning the nightmare scenario of a democrat dominated government with a socialist puppet at the helm. We are going to be re living the dark ages of Carterism….times ten. Palin would be superb as a third party candidate…..too bad there couldnt be the same that run for the house and senate….and remove both parties. and hold them all accountable for what they have done. All of them. Yeah, it could happen.

  38. wardmama4 says:

1st – there are ‘flyover’ states in the North – and I am tired of being taxed to death to find out it is in someone’s pocket, or they vetoed the will of the people (again) or it was wasted on someone’s new pet project.

Consillience, SJ and 1st – I do believe it can happen in America. The only problem with a march on DC is that the very people you are talking about take their jobs and family seriously and can’t waste the time/money to do it. And won’t. And it is sad to realize that most of the people who march/protest on the other side are being paid – even more sad – usually with taxpayer funds.

It needs to stop – and accountability is the way – but the first step is to kick the Ds & few Is out of office. Shore up that R majority – big time – and then hold them all accountable. Write, call, and email and make sure that they know that 51, 75, 80% of America is against earmarks, pork, bailouts etc. And then as the healing begins – we can start electing true Constitutional, conservative representatives.

America did not step out in a day, a week or even a year – we can not take back our country in an election.

But for the good of America and the World – We The People must no longer be the Silent Majority. We must stand up. And speak up and hold everyone accountable.

I sent an email to the WFTV and supported Ms West and the station for the Biden interveiw. I emailed my Representative, Senators and the President to request that the ACORN investigation goes forth immediately so that this could be a fair and legitimate election. It is not too late, it is never too late – as long as there are people who hold these truths to be self-evident this Nation shall not perish.

Go to the Heritage Foundation and get your free pocket Constitution. Read it to your children, discuss it and explain to them why it is so important.

And vote next Tuesday. This is not the most important election of your life or mine – it is not the most historical – it is simply a turning point election. Is America a country of those who believe in America as a land of laws and opportunity and a Constitution set out 232 years ago or are we willing to sell out to Big Brother Government doing it all for us – so that we have and are NOTHING?

  39. Consilience says:

wardmama4–I believe as well. These aren’t ordinary times and we have to make the time to make our voices heard.

All, a dear friend posted the following this morning (he owns a company and has several employees who are devotees to the thug messiah):

“Obama’s revealing answers to questions that he gave in 2001 and that are on tape are being circulated. McCain is mentioning them in part. The focus is on redistribution of wealth.

By our laws, raising taxes to confiscate the wealth of the haves to give to the have nots is legal, and can be effected if the people elect those who want to do so. This already is done in part by the current laws. I do not like the idea, and like many others I will game it to earn less than whatever threshold applies even if it means reducing my personal efforts or downsizing a business. But the point is his planning to do so is not un-American in a legal sense or in terms of permanence.

What is scary is what he said about the constitution.

“And uh, to that extent, as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution — at least as it’s been interpreted, and [the] Warren Court interpreted it in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties: [it] says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf.”

Yesterday I was talking to an intelligent, educated Obama supporter. The person was primarily concerned with the common good rather than with individual freedom. Most significantly, the person thought it would be proper to have you change jobs (without your wanting to or agreeing to) if the government thought that the new job would be more in tune with the common good. Sounds like Russia to me.

Obama, from what he said, does not like the constitution because it limits Government. It should be obvious that he knew and agreed with the radicals with whom he associated. Not wanting the freedoms “protected” by the constitution is what is truly dangerous. The man wants to be dictator and appears, successfully, to be approaching same in a subtle, well planned, long-term effort.”

  40. freezethefascism says:

I am so furious! Where is the Secret Service to harass these morons? They came and harassed me after some simpleton campaign caller reported the words “No, I won’t vote for him, I think your guy is a socialist who voted four times in the state senate to let little babies die in hospital closets” as “I will never support Obama and he will die on a hospital floor.” They were at my door 22 hours later questioning me on my thoughts and political activities (which were none until I got p.o.ed at this invasion). They insisted that they must thoroughly examine every reported threat even those that are nothing but one-sided hearsay from a partisan. What a load of garbage.

  45. Patrick of Atlantis says:

    Re: Consilience
The 17th Amendment killed this country. It gave a creep like George Soros the power to elect Barack Obama to be President of the U.S.A.. The 19th Amendment was an accessory but that case is harder to make but consider this: In 1981 I visited some married friends. The men were playing cards in the kitchen and the wives were watching ‘Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show’. Bob Hope comes on the ‘Tonight Show’ with a beautiful woman on each arm and the beautiful women sing. The wives, who in my opinion were scary ugly, comment:”They sure are ugly”. and “They sure can’t sing”. This is why Peggy Noonan berates Palin and why the 19th Amendment is a mistake. Women should be allowed hold office, but they probably shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

  46. Consilience says:

Patrick of Atlantis, Regardless who wins next week, we will have to rise to the occasion and get our Constitution (that the thug messiah says is flawed) and our Republic back. I’m not sure I could support repealing the 19th; women (Ms Noonan and Co) aren’t the problem, it is the mind-set of arrogance in choosing to sit in judgement. That’s what frosts me most.

Here is a link to a cogent argument for repealing the 17th. Keep the faith!

NEWMARKET, Ont. – A 26-year-old man from Georgina, Ont., has been sentenced to 45 days in jail after pleading guilty to a hate crime.

In November, 2007, York Regional Police spotted a plastic skeleton painted black and hanging on a flagpole flying a Confederate flag. The skeleton was hung by its neck with a rope fashioned into a noose and was outside a residence, clearly visible from the street.

Luke Granados was arrested in May 2008 and was charged under the hate crime section of the Criminal Code.

Granados pleaded guilty to the charge last month, and following the 45-day sentence, he will be on probation for one year.

Sheriff’s officials say resident decided to remove them after discussing the situation with West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang.

My understanding is that the mayor had a long talk with the man and convinced him to bring it down.

The homeowner began to realize what they had done caused a little more of a reaction than they had hoped for,” Sheriff’s official Steve Whitmore says.

Earlier today, protesters put up a pair of white sheets on sticks in effort to hide the display from the street Tuesday.

Whoever put up the sheets could be cited for trespassing or infringing on free speech rights, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Oscar Butao.

However, nobody at the house has complained so far.

The U.S. Secret Service recently looked into the display and said there was no threat. Deputy Special Agent in Charge Wayne Williams called the display unusual but said so far it seems to be harmless.

Williams also said they are not treating the display as a threat.

West Hollywood city code enforcement and the Los Angeles County Fire Department are also investigating whether the effigy violates any laws.

The sheriff made this clear: This is a country that has freedom of speech and we protect that right even when we think it’s idiotic and stupid and in bad taste and wrong to do,” said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca.

“If it is non-violent and doesn’t cause any problems, then they have the right to do it.” …

At least they readily admit what we already know:

Whitmore said that potential hate crimes are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

If the same display had been made with a Barack Obama likeness, for example, authorities would have to evaluate it independently, Whitmore said.

“That adds a whole other social, historical hate aspect to the display, and that is embedded in the consciousness of the country,” he said, adding he’s not sure whether it would be a hate crime. “It would be ill-advised of anybody to speculate on that.”

Otherwise reminding people that “hate crime” prosecutions are always a judgement call and quite often a double standard.

You can see where that leads; if you’re a conservative Christian and just happen to get into an auto accident with a homosexual driver who has a pro gay-marriage bumper sticker, congratulations, you’ve perpetrated a hate crime if you encounter the right politically-motivated prosecutor.

Meanwhile the sheets “violate free speech laws?”

Perhaps the sheets should have said “Fight Obama the terrorist” – then they would have been speech of their own and no more disruptive than Code Pink when they interrupt any event, correct?

Somehow I doubt left-leaning judges and prosecutors would see it that way.

BillK, Your comments and articles are always greatly appreciated, so I thank you for your countless hours of research.
In the link I posted above, they are looking for blood for whom ever hung another Obama effigy, But the boy hanging an effigy of Sarah Palin only gets a talking to by a limp wristed mayor and his impotent sheriff.
    Nah, no bias here.

I’m sure that several agencies in California are conducting “well-meaning” searches into Chad’s personal information to see if he has made child support payments, etc. Just kidding, of course.

Yes – America under Obama – the Palin effigy ilicits a few stories and finally the thing is brought down – a supposed Obama effigy ilicits two arrests and nary a picture of the offending effigy at all.

Joe the Plumber gets every ‘legal’ segment of his life gone over with a fine tooth comb for asking a question. And the guy running for POTUS refuses to answer the tough questions, refuses to provide any documentation of a thing he has done in his entire life (bc, school records, writings, legislation history etc) and calls those who repeat requests or proof – racist.

And The One ™ is just a candidate – can’t wait to see what happens if he becomes POTUS.
