And the guy running for POTUS refuses to answer the tough questions, refuses to provide any documentation of a thing he has done in his entire life (bc, school records, writings, legislation history etc) and calls those who repeat requests or proof – racist.

West Hollywood Palin Effigy Coming Down

WEST HOLLYWOOD — The West Hollywood resident who put up an effigy of vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and presidential candidate John McCain have agreed to take them down.

Sheriff’s officials say resident decided to remove them after discussing the situation with West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang.

“My understanding is that the mayor had a long talk with the man and convinced him to bring it down.

The homeowner began to realize what they had done caused a little more of a reaction than they had hoped for,” Sheriff’s official Steve Whitmore says.

Earlier today, protesters put up a pair of white sheets on sticks in effort to hide the display from the street Tuesday.

Whoever put up the sheets could be cited for trespassing or infringing on free speech rights, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Oscar Butao.

However, nobody at the house has complained so far.

The U.S. Secret Service recently looked into the display and said there was no threat. Deputy Special Agent in Charge Wayne Williams called the display unusual but said so far it seems to be harmless.

Williams also said they are not treating the display as a threat.

West Hollywood city code enforcement and the Los Angeles County Fire Department are also investigating whether the effigy violates any laws.

“The sheriff made this clear: This is a country that has freedom of speech and we protect that right even when we think it’s idiotic and stupid and in bad taste and wrong to do,” said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca.

“If it is non-violent and doesn’t cause any problems, then they have the right to do it.” …

At least they readily admit what we already know:

Whitmore said that potential hate crimes are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

If the same display had been made with a Barack Obama likeness, for example, authorities would have to evaluate it independently, Whitmore said.

“That adds a whole other social, historical hate aspect to the display, and that is embedded in the consciousness of the country,” he said, adding he’s not sure whether it would be a hate crime. “It would be ill-advised of anybody to speculate on that.”

Otherwise reminding people that “hate crime” prosecutions are always a judgement call and quite often a double standard.

You can see where that leads; if you’re a conservative Christian and just happen to get into an auto accident with a homosexual driver who has a pro gay-marriage bumper sticker, congratulations, you’ve perpetrated a hate crime if you encounter the right politically-motivated prosecutor.

Meanwhile the sheets “violate free speech laws?”

Perhaps the sheets should have said “Fight Obama the terrorist” – then they would have been speech of their own and no more disruptive than Code Pink when they interrupt any event, correct?

Somehow I doubt left-leaning judges and prosecutors would see it that way.

Ontario man gets 45 days in jail for hate crime

NEWMARKET, Ont. – A 26-year-old man from Georgina, Ont., has been sentenced to 45 days in jail after pleading guilty to a hate crime.

In November, 2007, York Regional Police spotted a plastic skeleton painted black and hanging on a flagpole flying a Confederate flag. The skeleton was hung by its neck with a rope fashioned into a noose and was outside a residence, clearly visible from the street.

Luke Granados was arrested in May 2008 and was charged under the hate crime section of the Criminal Code.

Granados pleaded guilty to the charge last month, and following the 45-day sentence, he will be on probation for one year.

What happened to having class? What happened to respecting people’s different opinions even though it conflicts with yours?

It is clear that we have a huge liberal ideology and they espouse having an “open mind”…yeah right…have an open mind only if it doesn’t conflict with theirs. Hypocritical.
