Yes - America under Obama - the Palin effigy ilicits a few stories and finally the thing is brought down - a supposed Obama effigy ilicits two arrests and nary a picture of the offending effigy at all.

Joe the Plumber gets every 'legal' segment of his life gone over with a fine tooth comb for asking a question. And the guy running for POTUS refuses to answer the tough questions, refuses to provide any documentation of a thing he has done in his entire life (bc, school records, writings, legislation history etc) and calls those who repeat requests or proof - racist.

And The One (tm) is just a candidate - can't wait to see what happens if he becomes POTUS.

I'm sure that several agencies in California are conducting "well-meaning" searches into Chad's personal information to see if he has made child support payments, etc. Just kidding, of course.

BillK, Your comments and articles are always greatly appreciated, so I thank you for your countless hours of research.
In the link I posted above, they are looking for blood for whom ever hung another Obama effigy, But the boy hanging an effigy of Sarah Palin only gets a talking to by a limp wristed mayor and his impotent sheriff.
Nah, no bias here.

From Los Angeles television station KTLA:

West Hollywood Palin Effigy Coming Down

WEST HOLLYWOOD -- The West Hollywood resident who put up an effigy of vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and presidential candidate John McCain have agreed to take them down.

Sheriff's officials say resident decided to remove them after discussing the situation with West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang.

"My understanding is that the mayor had a long talk with the man and convinced him to bring it down.

The homeowner began to realize what they had done caused a little more of a reaction than they had hoped for," Sheriff's official Steve Whitmore says.

Earlier today, protesters put up a pair of white sheets on sticks in effort to hide the display from the street Tuesday.

Whoever put up the sheets could be cited for trespassing or infringing on free speech rights, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Oscar Butao.

However, nobody at the house has complained so far.

The U.S. Secret Service recently looked into the display and said there was no threat. Deputy Special Agent in Charge Wayne Williams called the display unusual but said so far it seems to be harmless.

Williams also said they are not treating the display as a threat.

West Hollywood city code enforcement and the Los Angeles County Fire Department are also investigating whether the effigy violates any laws.

"The sheriff made this clear: This is a country that has freedom of speech and we protect that right even when we think it's idiotic and stupid and in bad taste and wrong to do," said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca.

"If it is non-violent and doesn't cause any problems, then they have the right to do it." …

http://www.ktla.com/content_landing_page/?West-Hollywood-Palin-Effigy-Coming-Down=1&blockID=118633&feedID=171

At least they readily admit what we already know:

Whitmore said that potential hate crimes are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

If the same display had been made with a Barack Obama likeness, for example, authorities would have to evaluate it independently, Whitmore said.

"That adds a whole other social, historical hate aspect to the display, and that is embedded in the consciousness of the country," he said, adding he's not sure whether it would be a hate crime. "It would be ill-advised of anybody to speculate on that."

Otherwise reminding people that "hate crime" prosecutions are always a judgement call and quite often a double standard.

You can see where that leads; if you're a conservative Christian and just happen to get into an auto accident with a homosexual driver who has a pro gay-marriage bumper sticker, congratulations, you've perpetrated a hate crime if you encounter the right politically-motivated prosecutor.

Meanwhile the sheets "violate free speech laws?"

Perhaps the sheets should have said "Fight Obama the terrorist" - then they would have been speech of their own and no more disruptive than Code Pink when they interrupt any event, correct?

Somehow I doubt left-leaning judges and prosecutors would see it that way.

Interesting contrast here:

Ontario man gets 45 days in jail for hate crime

By THE CANADIAN PRESS

NEWMARKET, Ont. - A 26-year-old man from Georgina, Ont., has been sentenced to 45 days in jail after pleading guilty to a hate crime.

In November, 2007, York Regional Police spotted a plastic skeleton painted black and hanging on a flagpole flying a Confederate flag. The skeleton was hung by its neck with a rope fashioned into a noose and was outside a residence, clearly visible from the street.

Luke Granados was arrested in May 2008 and was charged under the hate crime section of the Criminal Code.

Granados pleaded guilty to the charge last month, and following the 45-day sentence, he will be on probation for one year.

Coming soon to a state near you?
(I should probably note that I've seen murderers up here get conditional sentences -which are served at home, not in jail)

It is amazing that this individual is allowed to get away with this. If it were a gay or black man hanging from the rope, there would be outrage from the gay and black communities. Because it's a conservative Repulican - it's ok, right?

What happened to having class? What happened to respecting people's different opinions even though it conflicts with yours?

It is clear that we have a huge liberal ideology and they espouse having an "open mind"...yeah right...have an open mind only if it doesn't conflict with theirs. Hypocritical.

Is this the example we set for our children and society? This guy is pathetic.

Patrick of Atlantis, Regardless who wins next week, we will have to rise to the occasion and get our Constitution (that the thug messiah says is flawed) and our Republic back. I'm not sure I could support repealing the 19th; women (Ms Noonan and Co) aren't the problem, it is the mind-set of arrogance in choosing to sit in judgement. That's what frosts me most.

Here is a link to a cogent argument for repealing the 17th. Keep the faith!

Re: Consilience
The 17th Amendment killed this country. It gave a creep like George Soros the power to elect Barack Obama to be President of the U.S.A.. The 19th Amendment was an accessory but that case is harder to make but consider this: In 1981 I visited some married friends. The men were playing cards in the kitchen and the wives were watching 'Johnny Carson's Tonight Show'. Bob Hope comes on the 'Tonight Show' with a beautiful woman on each arm and the beautiful women sing. The wives, who in my opinion were scary ugly, comment:"They sure are ugly". and "They sure can't sing". This is why Peggy Noonan berates Palin and why the 19th Amendment is a mistake. Women should be allowed hold office, but they probably shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Incidences like these have convinced me to unregister myself as a democrat this election. I'm a liberal and I'm gay, but all the same, it disgusts me that I will be associated with people who are so crass and lacking in social skills that the only way they can express their political "ideas" is through violence and uncouth displays. I don't agree with many things Palin says or stands for, but I respect that she is running for office for what she believes is good for our country.
