Pastor Wright Erased From Obama’s Website

Just like in the bad old days of the Stalinist Soviet Union, an inconvenient personage has been airbrushed from the Barack Obama campaign’s website.

Before, via Google’s cache (as retrieved on Mar 8, 2008 20:01:06 GMT):

And the current page:

Now is that keeping the faith?

For the record here is Mr. Wright’s now disappeared endorsement:

Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.

Senior Pastor, Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago, IL
Senator Obama’s pastor

I’m concerned with healthcare; the war in Iraq; the high rates of recidivism in our criminal justice system; the poor condition of the Illinois public school system. Many of the resources that go to support programs such as for those living with HIV/AIDS are now being spent to fund the war. We have to communicate… I support Barack because of his incarnated faith – his faith made alive in the flesh. He reaches across all faith communities and even to those who have no faith at all. He is building a community where everyone has worth. That kind of faith is not easy to find in 2007 and a man like Barack is a rarity.

Of course it is illegal for the head of a church (being a 501c3 “charity”) to endorse a candidate. And, indeed, the IRS is investigating Mr. Wright’s church as we speak.

Perhaps this is also tantamount to destruction of evidence. Though, probably not, since the site still lists other (also illegal) endorsements from various pastors.

At least Mr. Wright was willing to put his money was his mouth is, if only once and five years ago.

For here is the sum total (at least according to the FEC) of Mr. Wright’s political contributions — and you know he is rolling in it:

Individual Contributions Arranged By Type, Giver, Then Recipient

Contributions to Political Committees

WRIGHT, JEREMIAH
CHICAGO, IL 60620
TRINITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

OBAMA, BARACK
VIA OBAMA FOR ILLINOIS INC
10/20/2003     1000.00     24020030280

Total Contributions:    1000.00

But who can calculate his “contributions in kind”?

    And this gutless POS (Obama) is on the verge of being nominated to run for the POTUS! A funny thing happened on the way to his coronation…the truth got out. You are judged by the company you keep and Obama can’t hide from his friends Bill Ayers and Reverend Wright. To any Democrat posting or reading here on S&L, are these are YOUR choices? I can’t remember in my political lifetime when we have had a more clear choice in candidates (assuming Barrack gets the nod). With all his faults in some of the issues John McCain is the man who survived five years in a POW camp when he could have gotten an early release due to the fact his Father was an Admiral in the Navy. Instead McCain chose to remain with his fellow POW’s.

    Then there’s Obama who hasn’t got the stones to admit his buddy the good reverend is a racist and hater and now tries to hide the fact he’s ever been associated with him. Now THIS is a great example of why I left the Democratic party after twenty-five years and most likely will never vote for one again.

    I would like to see this worked out right - with He Who Cannot Be Named rendered an also ran, with the TUCC paying back taxes and then being rendered into the activist ‘church’ that it is and finally that someone with clout would state that Rev Wright has been a racist hate monger doing his ‘church’, his community, his race, his religion and America not a single bit of good.

    But, sigh, I know that this is America today where the cheaters are prospering, the liars winning and the evil flourishing - so unless the Clinton machine really kicks into gear - where it will be torn asunder by the race baiters - we will continue onward - politics as usual.

    Talk about a culture of corruption - that is the motto for the DNC this election year.

    41 months ago: Barack Obama, then Democratic senatorial candidate, prays during a services at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago in this Oct. 31, 2004 file photo. Obama’s made religion a signature part of his campaign through his own public appearances in places where Democrats rarely venture, and a faith-based voter mobilization, topped by forums in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina that could prove key to organizing:

    Here’s another one on the same day. If the reverend said something the Times is the least likely to report on it….
    http://www.time.com/time/magaz.....ml?cnn=yes

    These pictures place him at the Church on Oct 31, 2004. Now all we have to do is find out what the good reverend was preaching about on that specific day.

    Here’s the reverends newsletter:

    PS: Obama has said he was always a Christian and now he’s saying this reverend lead him to Christ. Which is it? And how come he doesn’t go to Church on Christmas Day of all days (aside from Easter that is…)?

    “Obama has said he was always a Christian”

    As I understand it, BO was baptized into Christianity in about 1995, hardly making him a Christian all his life. My understanding is that a son born to a Mohamadan is a Mohamadan.

    Hope is a Christian virtue. BO, keep religion out of politics.

  5. DEZ

    Wright is lucky he is dealing with Obama rather than the Clinton’s.
    They might have really erased his ass.

  8. JohnMG

    He might not be off the hook yet, DEZ. After all, he did bring up that unfortunate “Lewinski” incident during one of his recent tirades.
    Oh, by the way, Monica is voting Republican this time. She said voting Democrat has left a bad taste in her mouth. ;o}

  9. DEZ

    A fine point MG.
    Good bye Mr. Wright!

  10. 1sttofight

    Sooo Lewinski is going to suck it up for the Republicans this time, huh? I sure hope she doesn’t blow her chance. ;)

  11. DEZ

    And to think I refrained from saying MG said a mouthfull!

  12. JohnMG

    What? What’d I say? I mean, how could Wright be so wrong? And you know something else. He looks awfully white to me…….whiter thanO-badiah-bama does, an’ he be da’ one Hussein all dat tripe!

  13. retire05

    The AP reported yesterday that Obama was quoted as saying:

    “If all I knew were those statements I saw on television, I would be shocked,” Obama said.

    Then in true fashion, he plays the race card and the victim card:

    “I noticed over the last several weeks tht the “forces of division have started to raise their ugly heads again”. And “I’m not here to cast blame or point fingers becasue everybody, you know, senses that there has been this shift”.

    Are we to take these statements that when he heard the Wright sermons in person he was not shocked but when he heard them on the television he was shocked?

    And then, he wants to point fingers, without pointing fingers, that he, the discriminated against black man, is being racially targeted without admitting that it was his own pastor’s ugly head that was raised.

    Is this man so conceited, so arrogant, that he really thought that none of this would come out and if it did, he could brush it off as racist attacks?

    Yeah, I think he is.

  14. JohnMG

    Maybe he thought no one would actually search his web site that thoroughly, or that people would be so wowed by his oratory that they wouldn’t dig very deep into his past. Yes, he’s THAT arrogant. Then a couple of other thoughts occurred to me about BO’s pastor being scrubbed, first from the announcement ceremony and now from the web page.

    Maybe he wasn’t the Wright man for the job.
    Maybe Obama didn’t know Wright from wrong.
    And now–
    Does he now represent the Wright wing of the Democrat party?

  15. greasywrench

    So Monica is voting Republican this time? As she was once quoted as saying “I find that hard to swallow”. Anyway, she’s said a mouthful. Let’s hope this isn’t another stain on her reputation.

  16. JohnMG

    retire05; There are a lot of people out there who have partaken of the Kool-Aid. I’ve attached a response to an e-mail that was sent out by a friend of mine to several persons concerning Obama’s association with Wright. Evidently one of those receiving the message disagreed but in replying, replied to all instead of just to sender, as I got a copy. Here’s what we’re up against;
    ……..Just how far are you willing to go to impugn a man’s character without checking to see if that man in any way agrees with those comments? By the way, he rejects, is angered by, and has removed that Pasteur from any association with him because of those comments.
    Shall we imply that because you have german heritage in your family that you agreed with and should be responsible for Adolph Hitler and his policies?…….

    You see. They just don’t want to hear it. Blind allegiance to the messiah!

  17. Lipstick on a PIAPS

    Hmmm…. he must really think he’s close to sewing up the nomination. Throwing his friend and pastor under the bus for saying what they both are thinking! ROFLMAO

  18. retire05

    JohnMG, yeah, I think Obama will be the Dem nominee. But it was reported last week that he is on the prosecutions witness list in the Tony Rezko trial. What happens if old Patty Fitzgerald (the same U.S. attorney that prosecuted Libbey) decides that Obama is worth putting on the stand?

    I have no doubt that McCain has friends in high places (intelligence) and would quietly investigate Obama and all his shady connections just to have it leaked to a friendly reporter.

  19. Diane

    @JohnMG: “Maybe he thought no one would actually search his web site that thoroughly, or that people would be so wowed by his oratory that they wouldn’t dig very deep into his past. Yes, he’s THAT arrogant. Then a couple of other thoughts occurred to me about BO’s pastor being scrubbed, first from the announcement ceremony and now from the web page.”

    He’s basically been running a stealth campaign from the get-go. Remember that posting from a couple of weeks back, where even his supporters can’t name a single thing he’s done in the legislature? His making Wright an unperson is part and parcel of the way he “handled” the whole Rezko thing. I don’t know about arrogance, although perhaps that’s a part of it. I think he just assumed everyone would be so blinded by his rhetoric that no one would notice the empty suit delivering it. And, alas, it still seems to be working, although it is fraying at the edges.

  20. Noyzmakr

    The Man Who’s Name Cannot Be Spoken figured, as all democrats do, that the press wouldn’t dig into his past and if they did and found something, they wouldn’t report it. And he was right….for a year or two. What he doesn’t understand is that the press will destoy anyone for a buck if the bandwagon can’t be ignored. Once enough people knew, they had to report it or look even more foolish and biased.
    The same thing happened to Bill C. After Drudge got hold to the whole Lewinski affair…they had to pile on. The Clintons learned this lesson. Now BHO is getting his.

  21. ptat

    The whole “it is unfair to make Obama guilty by association” canard was the main defense yesterday on the “news shows”, which flies in the face of reason so astoundingly it is breathtaking. 20 years his pastor, 20 years! Heck, even if he had heard a year’s worth of sermons, there is an undeniable guilt by association! Only a seething pile of hatred (hello, Michelle!) could sit and listen to this garbage more than once……

  22. JohnMG

    It’s the whole “being spoken down to” thing that irritates me the most, ptat. We’re asked to believe that “it is unfair to make Obama guilty by association” even in the face of having witnessed eight years of that very behavior directed toward GWB and anyone in his administration. One significant difference I see in this instance, however, is the evidence. As one example, the MSM would have you and me believe that donation of over $20k to Wright’s church by Obama in one year was done by some surrogate without the donee’s knowledge of what was going on, or his assent of same. Please! In the case of Obama we have a bounty of evidence linking the two, versus endless heresay and speculation directed toward Bush. We’ve been asked to suspend reason in order to accomodate Obama while at the same time to accept their assertions about Bush as gosple based on their say-so. They put this stuff out there with a straight face, with the assumption that I’m too simple to know what’s afoot.

  23. Retired_Chief

    Did the Reverend Wright just call Obama the messiah?

    …his faith made alive in the flesh.

    The last time I heard a phrase like that was from the Bible:

    And the Word was made flesh…(John 1:1, KJV)

    HOLY COW!

  24. Petra

    Retired Chief - I just posted this on another thread but it’s apt here:

    Then, consider these numbers on recent Google searches using only Obama’s name plus one other word:

    * Obama + messianic 75,200
    * Obama + savior 226,000
    * Obama + prophet 312,000
    * Obama + Christ 504,000
    * Obama + change 4,540,000
    http://www.americanthinker.com…..ctive.html

    Lots of nutcases around.

    That’s the kind of obtuse logic we all see when dealing with moon bats.
    They cant see how irrational a statement like that is.
    Of course having German blood does not make anyone a Nazi, But happily and willingly showing up to Hitlers pep rallies is a sure indication of guilt.
    Obama has been attending the rallies for 20 years.

  27. JohnMG

    The real tragedy is that this nitwit actually thinks he’s informed. He’s scolding someone for not seeking out the truth–the truth as he understands it, not the factual truth. I’m good friends with the woman to whom he responded. She and I are political junkies of a sort, and she probably does more research in one evening than this dipstick has done during this entire election cycle so far. But he assumes to “educate” the rest of us. What a moron!

  28. DEZ

    “What a moron!”
    Maybe him and Cindy Sheehan could be chess partners.

  29. sheehanjihad

    Obama reminds me of Damian in The Omen. All kidding aside, now that the good rev has upped the ante with that messiah hint…..now I am not a Bible thumper as all of you well know…..but I would like someone to go to Revelations and find that Anti Christ part….and do the math.

  30. DEZ

    He reminds me of the baseball cards I used to put on my bicycle forks so they would make a cool sound against the spokes.
    His ears would have the same effect if he ran through a cornfield.

  31. JohnMG

    Hey, DEZ. You don’t suppose all that rearranging of his web site is part of the “change” he’s been talking about do ya’? Aside from sh*tcanning ol’ Samantha for calling Hillary a “monster”, this is the only change I’ve noticed.

  32. 1sttofight

    Democrats are waaaaay to racist to ever vote for and elect a sorta black guy.

  33. DEZ

    ” Hey, DEZ. You don’t suppose all that rearranging of his web site is part of the “change” he’s been talking about do ya’?”

    Its more work than he has done in decades, Thats for sure.

  34. JohnMG

    I’m feeling sort of let down. He had me all wound up waiting for some CHANGE. This isn’t at all what I’d HOPED for.

  35. DEZ

    Maybe he will change Cindy’s……..
    Gotta go hurl!

  36. JohnMG

    Stop it!! I don’t even want to consider……………(wretch, wretch, wretch, wrrrrreeeeeetchhhhhhhh)

  37. JohnMG

    Hey, I just thought of a reason for the Rev. Wright’s being scrubbed from BO’s web site. Scripture says that Samson slew the Phillistines with the jaw bone of an ass.

    Obama’s political career was beginning to suffer the same fate for much the same reason.

  38. Noyzmakr

    LMAO! Good one.
