NY Gives Illegals Worker Rights, Overtime

From a joyous Associated Press:

NY governor signs domestic worker rights bill

August 31, 2010

ALBANY, N.Y. — New York Gov. David Paterson has signed into law the nation’s first extensive domestic workers’ rights measure, saying it corrects historic injustices.

Now if only Mr. Paterson could correct the historic injustice of these people living here illegally and getting all of our country’s benefits without paying any of the costs.

The law will guarantee overtime pay for domestic workers, as well as time off and protections against sexual harassment.

There are an estimated 200,000 domestic workers in New York City. An advocacy groups [sic] claims there are frequent reports of spoken or physical abuse by employers, and two-thirds of the workers said they never received overtime pay…

Would it be cynical to wonder just how they will enforce this new law?

Of course if you’re a maid working for a guy named Mohammed, I wouldn’t start spending the extra money.

How about deporting all 200,000 of them!!

I’m not surprised about New York.

It’s no longer considered shameful for the Democrats to campaign openly for illegals. Just a couple weeks ago I received a political mailer from Jeff Greene in Florida. It was in 100% Spanish. It said:

“El cree que todos tienen derecho al sueno Americano” and “la ley de inmigracion de Arizona no tiene lugar en America.”

I know a little Spanish. It means “He believes that everyone has the right to become an American.” and “Arizona’s immigration law has no place in America.”

And my favorite bit: “Como su senador, Jeff luchara por una reforma exhaustiva de las leyes de inmigracion que protejan nuestras fronteras y ofrezcan a los inmigranted indocumentados una senda humana para obtener la cuidadania.”

It means “As senator, Jeff worked to reform immigration laws to protect the border and provide undocumented immigrants with a way to obtain citizenship.”

So Greene will protect the borders and support amnesty / open door immigration at the same time?

Beauty of Reason make sure Green’s opponent gets a copy of the luring illegals and their fake ID’s. I think they need to make the guide lines more difficult to get a voting card.

You mispelled the good Senator’s name. It is properly: Jefe Verde

      Fortunately, he lost.

However I doubt the winning Democratic candidate is better.

Greene simply “outed” on paper what the left believes in practice, anyway.

That sounds like a congressional page’s job.

The picture with the story is kind of telling. The female ‘domestic worker’ is turned away…as if the photographer was protecting her identity or perhaps she didn’t want to be identified.

…..I don’t mind at all actually. Another democrat city to be in ruins. –Remember DETROIT?

Republicans should totally pull out of democrat cities, and let them fall, why fix it? It’s like trying to reverse terminal cancer.

    • Right of the People says:

I wouldn’t mind crossing NYC off the list of US cities except our banking and financial system is based there.

As far as the rest go, we’d be abandoning 70% of our large cities. Now if we could also get them to secede from the union I’d be all for it.

If a domestic employee is given room and board then their employer is not required to pay them overtime pay. Non live-in domestic employees must be paid overtime, it’s a federal law. Gotta love the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Of course, if you’re in this country illegally it may be difficult to go to court, but there’s probably an ACLU lawyer around that will take your case pro-bono.

  8. Reality Bytes says:

“Illegal Workers” definition could be Obama himself. It’s just criminal what he’s doing?

  9. Liberals Demise says:

As if the word, “ILLEGAL” means nothing, nada, ziltch!!

An American citizen and taxpayer can be arrested for smoking hemp and look at doing time in CrossBar Hotel because it is “ILLEGAL”.
    Same word……………difference in standard practice!!
