Pelosi #4 Most Beautiful Person On Capitol Hill

Surely this is some cruel jest aimed at “lookism” from The Hill:

50 Most Beautiful People on Capitol Hill - Top 10

July 24, 2007

We welcome you to the fourth anniversary issue of the 50 Most Beautiful People on Capitol Hill.

With more beautiful people nominees than ever before, making choices was a wrenching and angst-filled process. Thanks to all that participated and we are happy to introduce The Hill’s Top 10 beautiful people on Capitol Hill…

4. It girl strikes a pose

Name: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.)
Age: 67
Hometown: Baltimore, Md.
Political Party: Democrat
Dating Status: Married to Paul Pelosi

It is rather uncomfortable calling the 67-year-old House Speaker HouseNancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), mother of five and grandmother of six, “hot.”

So we let others decide.

There is a Facebook.com group called “I can’t say why, but I kinda think Nancy Pelosi is cute.” There’s another group there, too, but its name is too crass to print.

Moreover, Pelosi has become a fashion icon in colorful Armani skirt-suits.

Robin Givhan, the Washington Post fashion critic, earlier this year wrote, “She looks polished and tasteful … dignified and serious [and] she also happens to look quite good.” A copy of a Chinese Sea Pearl ring that Pelosi has been wearing sells on eBay. Opening bid: 88 cents.

No question that wealth, posh homes and a loving family have helped smooth the rough edges of life.

Nevertheless, it is puzzling just how the first female Speaker of the House stays so fit. She is always working and traveling, rarely exercises and reportedly noshes on Ghirardelli mint chocolates.

Maybe Pelosi was right when she told The New York Times, “Ice cream for breakfast is a good thing.”

Sure we know the old adage about politics being show business for ugly people.

But really. The “It Girl”?

She’s no Clara Bow. (Though one supposes Nancy may have known her.)

Still, if Pulitzer Prize winner Robin Given says so, it must be true.

However I’ve always been told beauty is what beauty does.

(Thanks to Zilla for the heads up. – I think.)

I liked #40, the employee of Obama’s who was too arrogant to play along.

“making choices was a wrenching and angst-filled process”

Spell-check was unable to catch this mistake - I’m pretty sure they meant retching.

Fortunately, without a war to worry about, the Hill has plenty of time to focus on pressing issues like Granny Nan’s jewelry.

  3. Sharps Rifle

Okay, I’ll be honest: For a woman of her age, Pelosi doesn’t look bad at all.

    THAT BEING SAID…

I read the rest of the article, and a more shallow piece of claptrap I haven’t seen for a while. Some of the choices were questionable at best, and others seemed to be just based upon pure lib bias. But then, considering how the libtards drool still over Hanoi Jane, why am I not surprised?

    And speaking of Robin Givhan:

Out of the 50, four did not list politcal parties. So the breakdown is as follows:

    Republican - 16

    Democrat - 30

So The Hill is saying that by an almost 2–1 margin, Democrats are better looking than Republicans.

Perhaps that is why we have Ann Coulter, and they have Helen Thomas. And if I had spent as much $$$ as SanFranNan to pump botox into my face as she has, I would look a hellofa lot better than she does.

  6. Old Grouch

Of course the ‘rats look better. After all, they can’t do anything, they might as well look good.

The Dems do have Susan Estrich. She’s better than Thomas. And about 1% of Ann. :))

R05, I’d buy you a drink long before I’d spit on SFN. You probably look better without the Botox.
    You certainly sound better.

Did John Edwards make the list? (didn’t have time to look)

Old Grouch, getting old is something that we all do and as long as we make nature’s biological clock a bad thing, we will have pols that look like SFN with her fake smile.

SFN just goes to prove that there is one thing money can’t buy: class.

See I don’t see any of them as attractive - other than to say, I’ve seen worse - because I see the anger, the bitterness and the hate in their eyes and faces - and that will never be attractive to me - no matter what the package or how well preserved or made up.

I admit I look my age - but that isn’t the issue - these people have no personal substance which is why everything is about using $$$$ to buy flash and dash to ‘impress’.

I personally, would prefer more beliefs, values and personal substance and less flash, dash, and botox.

Just about anything ” looks ” good with the proper amount of distance or beergoggles . Its when you get right up close you see the faults and imperfections , and # 4 has many . Who cares who is the best looking tyrant . If ya want to see the best of the left , go to zombietime . Just being a lier and a trader makes you ugly in my photo album . All take a conservative any day , Mrs. wirenut just reminded me that I already have .

Nancy Pelosi is a “person”? She looks less than lifelike to me.

This is one more example of how silly and useless the U.S. news media has become. When they’re not generating partisan propaganda they are producing crap like this.

  11. The Redneck

Don’t forget, folks, that there are folks who honestly believe that Bill Clinton is attractive…. pretty much a textbook example of being blinded by ideology, but all the same I think it’s more that the way they think is screwed up than the way they report is screwed up….

Granted, the way they report is also screwed up, but I think the former is more responsible here.

  12. AmericanIPA

The article doesn’t specify from how far away the “contestants” are being viewed, so I guess I can buy it. But girlfriend is starting to catch up wtih Jacko on the reconstructive surgery.

  13. doom127

Nancy Pelosi and the word “beautiful” in the same sentence?

Not to be mean, but… If I got drunk, snuck into the local zoo after hours and impregnated the homliest orangutan they’ve got, the thing that would pop out half a year or so later from the simian… would STILL be a thousand times more attractive than her.
