People Are Angry About Exec Orders Not Announced Yet!

From the insufferably smug Atlantic:

Everyone Is Already Unhappy With the Immigration Orders Obama Hasn’t Announced Yet

By Arit John | July 29, 2014

The White House is still weeks away from finalizing President Barack Obama’s recently announced immigration executive orders, but that hasn’t stopped Republicans from calling the moves unconstitutional, or immigrant-rights activists from saying he hasn’t gone far enough.

Gosh, we are stupid and paranoid bumpkins for complaining about something that hasn’t happened yet. Where do we get off reacting to something that we only think is going to happen?

We should just sit down and shut up and accept whatever Obama decides is best for us. Which he will announce as a fait accompli that nothing can be done about.

Immigration advocacy groups meeting with the president told the Associated Press that Obama is considering executive orders that would potentially defer deportations or grant work permits to millions of undocumented immigrants. Some possibilities include expanding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program to the parents of DACA recipients (up to 1 million people) or the parents of children born in the U.S. (approximately 3.8 million people).

In the current political environment, Republicans will see this as one more action by a lawless president.

How crazy of them. What is lawless about ignoring our laws or rewriting them for political purpose?

According to Politico, legal experts know Republicans don’t have a legal case against the president, because they don’t have standing — meaning they can’t prove that helping undocumented immigrants hurts them. Of course, that doesn’t dampen the urge to sue.

And never mind that the Republicans have no intention of suing Obama over his executive orders giving illegal aliens amnesty. (More is the pity.) They are suing him over Obama-Care. Which they wrote. So they may have standing after all.

But lawsuits are not the only option open to Congress. For one thing, Congress controls the purse strings of the entire government.

  1. “Congress controls the purse strings of the entire government.”

It’s more like they just carry the purse without the matching shoes. Congress, the real “Rainbow Coalition”. They’re just “Fabulous”.

They will never cut off funding for fear of being accused of another “government shutdown”. Spineless!
