Pew Poll: 57% Say Hillary Is Not ‘Hard To Like’!

From the Politico:

Poll: Hillary Clinton indeed ‘likable enough’

By TAL KOPAN | March 4, 2014

A majority of Americans say former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is not “hard to like” in a new poll, a reversal from her likability going into the 2008 presidential race.

Thanks to Obama’s election, political strategists now know the only thing that matters in electing a President is ‘likability.’ So all we are going to hear from now until 2016 is how likable Hillary is. And the media doesn’t care how many polls it takes to convince us.

In fact, notice the contortions Pew went through in their question, to try to elicit a positive response.

Asked whether the phrase applies to Clinton, 57 percent of those surveyed said “hard to like” does not describe her, compared with 36 percent who said it did, according to a Pew Research/USA Today poll out Tuesday.

In a 2008 primary season poll, Pew found 51 percent of voters found her hard to like, the year Barack Obama memorably told her in a debate: “You’re likable enough, Hillary.”

So, if the media can’t convince us that we actually like her, they will settle for convincing us that we don’t hate her as much as we used to.

A majority also described her as “tough” and “honest,” and 49 percent said she has new ideas…

Can anyone cite a single example of Hillary ever being tough? (Didn’t she cry during the New Hampshire primaries?) Or her ever being honest? And, last of all, when has Hillary ever had a new idea?

Clinton’s time at the State Department is the most positive and negative thing about her career, according to the poll. Asked to name the part of her career they have the most positive view of, 12 percent of those surveyed volunteered her time as secretary of state, topping the list of responses.

Vladimir Putin agrees. So does Bashar Assad and the Supreme Leader of Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood throughout the Middle East.

But 15 percent chose the terrorist attack on the American diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, as the most negative part of her career, topping that list.

Overall, 67 percent approved of her time at State.

For which you can blame the news media and our schools.

Views of the importance of Clinton’s gender also have changed in her favor since 2008. In Tuesday’s poll, 33 percent said being a woman would help her, 20 percent said it would hurt her and 44 percent said it would not matter. In 2008, 24 percent said it would help her, 35 percent said it would hurt her and 36 percent said it would not make a difference.

Whew. Now she won’t have to get that sex change.
