Physicians Ask Obama To Stop Eating Junk Food

From The Hill:

Health group asks Obama to stop eating junk food in public

By Elise Viebeck | November 8, 2012

A Washington, D.C.-based health group is making another appeal to President Obama to stop eating junk food in public now that election season is over.

Isn’t this hilarious? Of all the terribly destructive things Obama promised and did during the elections, that someone would seize upon this.

Still, it is nice to see him hoisted on his own petard. Or, at least, Michelle’s (new) petard.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) made headlines in May when it filed a petition with the White House objecting to Obama’s habit of grabbing hamburgers, hot dogs and other unhealthy foods with his staff and visiting dignitaries.

We don’t recall seeing any headline about this. (In fact, the only story we could find on the subject was from USA Today.)

Because the images go viral, PCRM argued, Obama’s junk-food habit has the effect of glamorizing unhealthy eating before a country that already faces an obesity crisis.

On Wednesday, PCRM Founder Neal Barnard called on Obama to abandon the foods he ate on the campaign trail — "cheesesteaks in Philly on Monday, barbecue in Dallas on Tuesday, cheese pizza in Madison, Wis., on Thursday" — now that he has secured reelection.

"Of course, President Obama had to pose for these photos for political reasons, but now it’s time for dispensation," Barnard wrote. "Politicians will always have to kiss babies and cut ribbons, but we can now officially take junk food out of the political picture."

Meanwhile, Obama’s eating habits for photo ops don’t seem to have had much of an effect, anyway.

From a cheering Associated Press:

McDonald’s sales drops for first time since 2003

November 08, 2012

NEW YORK (AP) – McDonald’s Corp. says a key sales figure fell in October, marking the first monthly drop in nearly a decade for the world’s biggest hamburger chain.

The company, based in Oak Brook, Ill., says global sales at restaurants open at least a year fell 1.8 percent for the month. The last time the figure dropped was in 2003. The figure is a key metric because it strips out the impact of newly opened and closed locations.

The fast-food chain says the figure fell 2.2 percent in both the U.S. and Europe. In the region encompassing Asia, the Middle East and Africa, it dropped 2.4 percent.

After year of outperforming its rivals, McDonald’s has seen sales slow recently as the company faces intensifying competition and a persistently weak economy…

So maybe Obama isn’t so all powerful, after all.

Still, what excellent news this is for some people, since McDonald’s is so closely associated with America.

Only Democrat doctors would warn Obama not to clog his arteries.

    “You are what you eat”—-clearly

Thought #2: It is often said that people from foreign lands, never having the experience of chili-dogs, popcorn, soft drinks, etc., have a tendency to overload on such foodstuffs, wanting to experience it all, right now and sometimes even experiencing a mild food addiction.

It’s my theory that Barry grew up in a foreign land and was denied these epicurean delights and is acting just like a foreigner. Of course, this is the only area in which he does this because he’s as American as can be in every other way. (sarc)

His memories in Indonesia were eating exotic food, not counting snakes. Spending his allowance on candy and Coke, and they had a transvestite cook to fix their fattening food.

Obama told of Kentucky Fried Chicken coming to Indonesia.

In his 2006 book it was fast food because he wouldn’t cook when Michelle was off working so it was fast food until they all put on weight. Then they hired a home nanny and cook, and as Senator another cook who they brought to the WH. His first presidential Valentines Day he flew AF1 to his favorite greasy spoon in Chicago. His first meal on AF1 was tater tots.

What did that one talk doctor say about his body weight was mostly fat.

The Audacity of he and Michelle regulating what everyone else eats.

I don’t think the country should worry about a stroke or heart attack. We need to hope he chews his food well and doesn’t choke on a tater tot. He has his special brewed beer to wash food down with.
