PolitiFact Awards Obama Their Lie Of The Year

From the Tampa Bay Times Politifact:

Lie of the Year: ‘If you like your health care plan, you can keep it’

By Angie Drobnic Holan | December 12, 2013

We counted dozens of times that President Barack Obama said that if people liked their health plans, they could keep them. It was a catchy political pitch and a chance to calm nerves about his dramatic and complicated plan to bring historic change to America’s health insurance system…

It was more than that. It was a lie calculated to hoodwink the public.

But the promise was impossible to keep…

It was known to be a lie from the start. There was never any thought about keeping it.

Boiling down the complicated health care law to a sound bite proved treacherous, even for its promoter-in-chief.  Obama and his team made matters worse, suggesting they had been misunderstood all along. The stunning political uproar led to this: a rare presidential apology…

He didn’t apologize.

For all of these reasons, PolitiFact has named “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it,” the Lie of the Year for 2013…

Well, better late than never. But, in reality, PolitiFact helped to promulgate the lie in years past, when the public knowing the truth might have made a difference.

For four of the past five years, PolitiFact’s Lie of the Year has revolved around the health care law, which has been subject to more erroneous attacks than any other piece of legislation PolitiFact has fact-checked…

As a matter of fact, according to their own website, PolitiFact has only been awarding ‘Lies Of The Year’ for four years, since 2009. And while four of them are about Obama-Care, three are really unfounded attacks on Obama-Care critics:

2009 – In December 2009, they declared the Lie of the Year to be Sarah Palin’s assertion that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2009 would lead to government “death panels” that dictated which types of patients would receive treatment.

Needless to say, there are death panels in Obama-Care, in any meaningful sense of the term.

2010 – In December 2010, PolitiFact.com dubbed the Lie of the Year to be the contention among some opponents of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that it represented a “government takeover of healthcare”. PolitiFact.com argued that this was not the case, since all health care and insurance would remain in the hands of private companies.

What a laugh. If Obama-Care is not a takeover of healthcare, we don’t know what is.

2011 – PolitiFact’s Lie of the Year for 2011 was a statement by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) that a 2011 budget proposal by Congressman Paul Ryan, entitled The Path to Prosperity and voted for overwhelmingly by Republicans in the House and Senate, meant that “Republicans voted to end Medicare.” PolitiFact determined that, though the Republican plan would make significant changes to Medicare, it would not end it.

How kind of them.

2012 – For 2012, PolitiFact chose the claim made by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney that President Obama “sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China” at the cost of American jobs.

This, of course, Romney was right. Jeeps are being built in China.

Today in a White House release…

“bogus sign language interpreter Thamsanqa Jantjie will become the new White House Press Secretary starting Jan. 1 . He will be granted Citizanship, will full Goverment Worker Healthcare, and pension plans.
    no background check was mentioned.”

worried about PolitiFact Lie Of The Year from ever occurring again, having someone nobody understands will stop future Fact checking.

Carney is reported to replied:” but i have been doing that all the time.”

Jantjie had no comment, as far as anyone could make out.

I made this parody video to illustrate Obama’s lie of the century, among others he told to sell his Oblundercare.

    fas·cism
    noun \ˈfa-ˌshi-zəm also ˈfa-ˌsi-\

: a way of organizing a society in which a government ruled by a dictator controls the lives of the people and in which people are not allowed to disagree with the government

: very harsh control or authority

So….the insurance companies are in bed with the government and are not allowed to disagree with it/them.

    They want our money
    They want our property
    They want our very lives.

It’s all a fun game to them, as long as they’re winning. And they are.
