Poll: 51% Of NY-ers Want Weiner In Office

From a Marist Poll:

Weiner Undone: Slim Majority Want Weiner to Remain in Congress… No Go for Mayor

June 7, 2011 by Marist Poll

In the wake of U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner’s emotional admission that he engaged in inappropriate online activity with women other than his wife, a little more than half of New York City registered voters still want Weiner to remain in Congress.  A majority, however, say Weiner should bid farewell to his hopes of becoming the next mayor of New York City.

If this is true, it’s hard to see how he is "undone."

According to this NY1-Marist Poll conducted just hours after the story broke, 51% of New York City voters believe Anthony Weiner should not resign from Congress.  30% disagree and think he should step down, and a notable 18% are unsure.

We are on their side. After all, staying in office would be the stand up thing to do. Real Weiners suck it up. They don’t quit. Real Weiners stick it out. They stand firm. They never let down.

The last thing this episode needs is an early climax. Let’s stretch this Weiner thing out as long as possible. We want a full blown Weinergeddon. After all, as we have oft-noted, erections have consequences.

However, when it comes to the 2013 race for New York City mayor, voters want Congressman Weiner to stay out.  A majority — 56% — do not want him to make a bid for the office, including a majority of Democrats. 25% of registered voters would like to see him campaign, and 19% are unsure…

Never fear. The Democrat Media Complex will turn this around in no time. Before you know it Mr. Weiner will go from being toast to being the toast of the town.

Do New York City residents think Congressman Weiner acted illegally? Slightly more than six in ten — 61% — believe his behavior was unethical but not illegal. 13% say his actions constituted illegal behavior while the same proportion — 13% — report Weiner did nothing wrong.  An additional 14% are unsure.

Since when does ethics have anything to do with being a Congressman – especially a Congressman from New York? Mr. Weiner was just conducting his own online ‘polling.’ Is that a crime?

The congressman has admitted that his actions were personal flaws and apologized to his wife, his family, his constituents, and the media.  However, those in New York City don’t think his teary mea culpa was sincere.  Nearly two-thirds of New York City residents — 64% — report Weiner apologized only because he got caught while 24% think he is truly sorry.  12% are unsure.

How cynical can you get? Who can doubt that Mr. Weiner would have come forward like he did, if there weren’t those other photographs and transcripts? Don’t you remember how contrite he was in the days before their existence became known?

While a majority of New York City residents — 54% — believe sending lewd photos over the Internet is unusual practice for politicians, a notable 30% of New Yorkers think it is common practice.  16% are unsure…

Who knew? No wonder our connection speeds are so slow.

Do New York City residents consider that to be cheating?  Six in ten — 60% — think it does constitute infidelity.  About one-third — 32% — says it does not, and 7% are unsure…

Like most things involving Democrat politicians, it all depends on the meaning of the word ‘is.’

(Oh, by the way, the Marist poll is run by the Marist Institute For Public Opinion, which is part of Marist College, which is a Roman Catholic institution.)

Weiner has pitched his tent and is not going to take the shaft for this. However, I hear he is in negotiations with Pfizer for doing some sort of commercial. Hope he gets a stiff raise.

Since lib’s don’t care about “Who” or “What” their having sex with, I’m not suprised. It’s not the lies or the infidelity or even an oath of office. To them it’s a sexual witchhunt, and nothing more. He did nothing wrong? Come On!!!
Had my Daughter rececived a pic of the lil prick, I would have sent him one of mine. Me, swinging a LouisVille Slugger. How’s that for “Sport’n” wood, mister weiner?

I have read that NY’ers take pride in being non-plussed by anything. I bet a good many of those polled would certainly take the rolling pin, frying pan, or Smith-and-Wesson to their spouse if they caught him in such shenanigans….

But from their elected pork conveyor, their sanctimonious and well-dressed son of the borough, their smooth talking, wise-cracking, smoke-blowing local weasel? Sure, he is one of dem, understands what being a real native NY-er is about, and is a poster boy for the NY attitude of ‘anything goes.’ He gets “it”, can understand the local needs, and da way dey tawk, da way dey do dehr biznez, is no fool or gonna get his stuff handed to him, eh? He’s a man about town, likes being seen, in all da right places – good partying kid – make any dad proud to have him for a son-in-law. He’s our boy, corrupted right here in da Big Apple.

Who needs a smart guy, some independent guy, or some guy who don’t look so good getting put up in his place by da guv’ner. Nah, he’s fun, so what if he were to sell out secret stuff to the Chinese or the Koreans – we doan care about dat stuff. Jus like we didn’t care about Hillary and Bill letting dem PR terrorists go….not a bad thing – everybodyz happy.

One can certainly understand why the capital and intellectual flight from NY with these bozos being in the majority. By the next census they will be down another couple of electoral votes and Congressional seats.

    Good for dem, eh?

GOSH! Aren’t you people being a little hard on Mr. weiner? The “Pants Weasel/Trouser Truant” has taken a major shot in the groonies over the last ten to twelve days, (Sure hope his swelling problem is under control). This is “THE” gift that keeps on giving. Let this be a lesson to all the prettyboy hotdoggers and squirm worms out there. Can’t wait to que up, (Stand By Your Man) when the wife gets home. No wait, lib-O-vision snooze is already doing that.
    SPIT TAKE # 5.

I saw another story on the web about a man who was carrying a dead weasel.

Surprisingly, it turned out that it was not a story about Weiner after all.
