“In 1968 a young man escaped Communist Cuba and a few months later was in America to stay. Manuel Alvarez, Jr. wrote a letter to the editor of the Richmond Times-Dispatch and offered this sobering account of how Communism came about in Cuba:
‘In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive. When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said “Praise the Lord.” And when the young leader said, “I will be for change and I’ll bring you change,” everyone yelled, “Viva Fidel!” But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner’s guns went silent the people’s guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him.’ “

Good God, stabbing his knife in a table in rage at Clinton’s “enemies?” I don’t know which is worse, finding out even more scary garbage about the Clinton White House I never knew about, or that the man for “change” is gathering up every bigshot from the Clinton era to add to his ranks. So much for changing the very fabric of the universe. I wonder if some of the liberals who were disillusioned by Clinton will start going “wait a minute, I’ve seen this before!” I doubt it…….

With the Press acting as the new Ministry of Truth, the internet hijacked by Factcheck.org and other polemics, and a populace too apathetic and/or lazy to bother researching their candidate for ten friggin’ minutes, I think we’re gonna be in for a long, cold winter.

This country just elected a rubber stamp, a democrat figurehead, nothing more.

Let’s keep our eye on the president select. He plans on hitting the ground running and pushing through as much garbage (legislation) as he can before people catch on. Be ready to call senators and representatives to try and stop it. I’m not so sure the Republicans left have the guts.

Is anyone really surprised? Obama rose to prominence out of nowhere. A little over four years ago, no one had heard of him. Then, voila, he speaks at the Dem national convention, and the push is on to make him a household name. He is not his own person, for he has no record of accomplishments. But the handlers recognized a capable tool to further their own agenda. Now it is time to pay off the people responsible for his meteoric rise. Thus Emanual, or someone equally abrasive and ambitious. Daschle? He has ‘loser’ written all over him, but Emanual has paid his dues under Clinton and will now sue to collect his prize. How does a Chuck Schumer as Attorney-General strike you? Maybe a Hillary Clinton as Associate-justice on the Supreme Court is more to your liking? Or Metzenbaum? Or Kennedy? Chris Dodd as Chairman of the ‘Fed’ seems to be a perfect fit.

Nothing will surprise me–not even a Chuck Hagel as the token “reaching across the aisle” nominee. Nothing!

Obama ‘makes chief-of-staff move’

A Democratic congressman has reportedly been approached by US presidential hopeful Barack Obama to be his chief-of-staff.

Rahm Emanuel was named by Democratic sources as a contender for the job.

The Illinois congressman is considered a highly partisan politician who served in Bill Clinton’s White House.

The BBC’s Justin Webb says the McCain campaign say this is an example of the real face of an Obama administration – governed from the left.

Mr Obama refused to be drawn on reports he had approached Mr Emanuel about becoming his chief-of-staff.

“I’m trying to win an election,” he told reporters when asked the question as he stepped off a flight in Missouri.

“Plouffe is my chief-of-staff,” he added, referring to campaign manager David Plouffe.

An aide to Mr Emanuel told the AP “he has not been contacted to take a job in an administration that does not yet exist”.
