the buyout is about 4 monthes pay, compared to how many years they could continue to work, and will either way lessen their retirement amount. They’ve been giving early outs allready, so I guess they are trying to give a perk for them to get out.

The funny part is the unions harrassing employees to vote for Obama to save their jobs. gee. what happened.

I know exactly what you mean – the older lady in my local Post Office always has a major attitude – I feel like, well, I am in polite company so I will not say what I feel like telling her – suffice to say she is not very good at customer service.

There is one other lady who works there and she is very sweet and helpful – I think she is also new so maybe she hasn’t been jaded yet.

I did think of something. I deal primarily with a small privately owned post office. It runs efficiently and has for years. The people are friendly. It’s really very pleasant. My daughter works at a UPS Store and they offer all the same services and the USPS and well as UPS delivery. They have mail boxes and again they are all very pleasant and they make a profit.

$15k is a small buyout considering the pay and benefits of postal workers, i.e., a great deal for taxpayers. Let’s hope it is quite popular…

I don’t know when the last time I went into a Post Office and the clerk actually smiled at me was? The only place where everyone was always nice was the main Honolulu Post Office down next to the airport. Those people were always nice and I’d go out of my way to go there. The one in Kapolei was terrible as was the on in Waihpahu. Since coming back to the mainland I have not been in one Post Office where anyone smiled.
Maybe they just told her she could get a pay-out and that’s why she’s smiling.
