‘Protests Are Natural, Amnesty Biggest Failure’

Here is more from yesterday’s Univision interview, via Neil Munro at the Daily Caller:

Obama says Arab blasphemy protests are ‘natural’

By Neil Munro | 09/20/2012

President Barack Obama said he thinks Muslim protests against Western criticism of Islam are “natural.”

“The natural protests that arose because of the outrage over the video were used as an excuse by extremists to see if they can also directly harm U.S. interests,” Obama said during an hour-long town-hall interview on the Spanish-language Univision channel

After all, what could be more naturally that having murderous world-wide riots over a video that almost no one has seen?

Obama did not use the interview to champion the right of Americans to speak freely amid criticism and threats from Islamic advocates…

Actually, we can’t recall Obama ever championing free speech. In fact, as we saw, his administration’s first reaction to these protests was to complain about the American right to free speech.

And the State Department is even now running ads in Pakistan which feature Obama and Mrs. Clinton decrying our freedom of speech.

“What we’ve seen over the last week, week and a half, is something that actually we’ve seen in the past, where there is an offensive video or cartoon directed at the prophet Muhammad,” he said. This “is used as an excuse by some to carry out inexcusable violent acts directed at Westerners or Americans.” …

The truth is Muslims could find something to get worked up about that any day of the week. Some perceived slight to their religion. So the real question here is why did they decide to get whipped up now?

Meanwhile, we also have this from the Univision interview, also via the Daily Caller:

Obama: Lack of immigration reform, not unemployment, is biggest failure

By Neil Munro | 09/20/2012

President Barack Obama told an Hispanic audience today that his “biggest mistake” was not passing a large-scale amnesty of illegal immigrants…

“My biggest failure is that we haven’t got comprehensive immigration reform done … but it was not for lack of trying or desire,” Obama told his mostly Hispanic audience during the hour-long town hall meeting organized by the Spanish-language TV network, Univision…

Obama’s focus on immigration came after the the Univision interviewers grilled him for failing to fulfill his campaign promise to get what conservatives consider an amnesty, which is dubbed by supporters as “comprehensive immigration reform.”

“You actually broke your promise,” said co-host Maria Elena Salinas.

Why is Ms. Salinas surprised? It would be far easier to list the number of promises Mr. Obama has kept. Such as his promise to ‘transform America.’

Obama blamed the GOP for the failure to pass reform, even though Obama had majorities in the House and Senate until early 2010.

Actually, until January 2011.

Obama also cited his July decision to defer deportation of perhaps 1.7 million younger illegal aliens…

Which we were told was not amnesty. And which was also probably illegal.

The decision provides work permits to at least 800,000 working-age illegals, despite very high unemployment rates among low-skilled Americans…

Actually, more recent estimates have doubled that number. And the truth is it will end up being many times even that.

At least 10.1 percent of working-age Hispanics are unemployed. Twenty-nine percent of Hispanics aged 16 to 19 who want a job can’t find a job.

It’s funny how the Univision interviewers didn’t think to ask about that.

Still, notice that Obama sees not ramming through a full amnesty for illegal aliens as a bigger failing than reviving the economy. Which, after all, was really the core of his 2008 campaign.

Maria Elena Salinas will soon be apologizing for her, shall we say, untoward remark to the Saviour of All Hispania.

When your own country, government & citizens suck, you protest against things that have nothing to do with your own self-inflicted misery. Except for the blame-America crowd…who blame…America!
