Public (And Cher!) Oppose Syria Strike Approval

First, from CNN:

CNN poll: Public against Syria strike resolution

By Paul Steinhauser and John Helton | September 9, 2013

Washington (CNN) — As President Barack Obama presses his case for a strike on Syria, a new national survey shows him swimming against a strong tide of public opinion that doesn’t want the U.S. to get involved.

Can CNN name a single Obama agenda item that was/is not against the strong tide of public opinion? Obama-Care? Amnesty? Gun control? Carbon tax?

The CNN/ORC International poll released Monday shows that even though eight in 10 Americans believe that the Bashar al-Assad regime gassed its own people, a strong majority doesn’t want Congress to pass a resolution authorizing a military strike against the regime.

More than seven in 10 say such a strike would not achieve significant goals for the U.S. and a similar amount say it’s not in the national interest for the U.S. to get involved in Syria’s bloody two-year long civil war…

We used to say ‘how often does 70% of the American public agree on anything?’ But now that is actually becoming pretty common. Obama is regularly opposed by such whopping majorities. But it doesn’t seem to stop him. And it doesn’t seem to make him any less popular.

"Congressional approval would help Obama a little, but a majority would still oppose air strikes against military targets in Syria," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said. "If Congress authorizes military action, 55% of Americans would still oppose air strikes." …

Fifty-nine percent of people questioned say they don’t think Congress should pass a resolution that would authorize military action against Syria for a 60- to 90-day period and bar the use of U.S. ground troops, while about four in 10 approve of such a resolution…

Meanwhile, a bellwether of the low information crowd has weighed in.

From Breitbart:

Cher: If Obama Bombs Syria It Could Be His Downfall

By Christian Toto | September 8, 2013

Count Cher as one of the few politically active celebrities to weigh in on President Barack Obama’s war stance against Syria.

Cher routinely uses social media to defend the president and/or slam conservatives in the most callous fashion she can muster. Today, the singer/actress took a different, more defiant tone, warning Obama of the consequences of betraying the will of the American people.

Believe,If Pres.Obama,Bombs Syria,it might b His Downfall. He could go From Loved 2 Loathed.U Cant Go Against The Will Of 80% Of AMERICANS

Could Syria be the tipping point with the low-fo voters? That would be a little surprising.

Cher couldn’t let that stand without hitting her usual targets, so she followed up with a slam that hardly seemed to connect with her concerns over Syria.

Will congress make PRES.Lame Duck,Re:SYRIA? W/out Love or Care 4 Ppl,T-BAGS HAVE ALREADY EVISCERATED HIM.THEY PASS NOTHING 4GOOD OF COUNTRY

What insights. Has anyone heard from Bette Midler? We should get the insights from as many of the Hollywood brain trust as possible.

  1. I had no idea that Cher was so racist. When will the DOJ begin its investigation. Where is the NAACP? How can she use her celebrity to espouse such hateful rhetoric? Obama… loathed? Is that a threat? This kind of thing can’t be ignored. How long must we wait for action on this scandal.

How long will it take for these people to start eating each other whole? This could be the moment for conservatives to sit back and watch Obama’s own fan base tear him down. Just let me dream…

  2. It’s important that Cher be on board. Without Cher I don’t know what would happen to our men in uniform .. if only she could Turn Back Time … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5G4O5AMSevc

what is the best way to reach with the low-fo voters?
to print the news on Miley Cyrus’s a.s.

  4. “….a new national survey shows him swimming against a strong tide….”

Who does he think he is? Diana Nyad? Is Nerobama holding on the Kerry’s swiftboat?

  5. Right of the People

Man things sure are going into the toilet for Barry if uber-lefty Cher is agin him.
